DESCRIPTION
There are about 80 million Millennials in the United States and include young adults in their 20s and 30s. Millennials have earned a reputation for viewing the world through a uniquely digital lens, but there are many similarities between them older audiences. (Accenture) For a potential client research project I investigated how users conduct job searches, tools used, how information is gathered and attitudes about the “perfect job and company” utilizing Survey Monkey and an email survey of 83 users, including GenY, Millenials and 35+ users.TRANSCRIPT

YOUR JOB NOW: CAREER STARTER, CAREER, OR JUST A JOB?
Text Analysis:
Career Starter: I don't see myself doing what I'm doing now in four years, but I view it as an important stop along the way to my ultimate career goals. Career Starter: Because I am using my internship/job as a way to explore career options
Career: Because there are opportunities for skill growth and career (title/pay) advancement that are clear and known to me Career: Its has advancement opportunities and is utilizing my degree
Job: When I started with this company, I felt my position was a career started but after being looked over several opportunities for advancement, I've become to view it as just a job. Job: It is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. Job: It has no training opportunities, path to management, or any other career oriented benefits.

THE PERFECT JOB & COMPANY (GENY)
A perfect position and company would be one that fits my personal needs including the need for achievement. This position would include training and also have room for advancement in the future. A friendly, clean work environment are also of high priority as well as the geographical location.
Matches my passion, values, and compensates me fairly for doing the job I love. At a perfect company you don't treat the job as your "job", but rather as an essential part of your life, part of who you are and what you stand for. There could never be two perfect companies or dream jobs, so a person would know it if he is in the perfect company when he gets there.
13
THE PERFECT JOB AND COMPANY (25+)
The position - one that changes enough to be interesting (not rote) and makes use of my skills and talents. Company - one that is a grown up about the relationship between and employee and employer. Please don't expect me to give you more loyalty than you are willing to give to me. Also, one that owns and embraces its true identity. One where the best years are ahead, not behind.
The perfect position would be flexible enough to play to an individual's strengths while challenging them to develop further. The perfect company would cultivate this type of flexibility, and would collaborate with individuals as they develop both within their role and nurture new opportunities for individual and organizational development over time.
Perfect company: Has a culture built around customer focus. Nationally recognizable, profitable, produces a product or service that people find useful or like, encourages employees at all levels to look for opportunities to improve the company or make more money for the company in some way and go do it. Perfect position: Allows me to do something I love and reports to someone that helps themselves by providing opportunities for me to learn new skill sets and responsibilities or be better at existing ones. In return I make them look good by helping them reach their objectives.
To work for a company that offers a product/service that I can personally stand behind. A company that is constantly evolving and making changes and society. A company that makes a real effort to use and foster talent that employees have.
14
THE PERFECT JOB AND COMPANY (25+)
A perfect position would be a job that aligns with your best skill set while offering room for advancement and challenge all while serving a greater good. Perfect company would be a place that values their employees over their clients, takes in interested in and is familiar with employee's short and long-term career goals, establishes great team dynamics, and features qualified, personable, and encouraging leaders on their management team.
Position: Always mentally challenged, core skills are always being put to good use, projects are interesting, high quality of work is expected, variety of clients/projects is high, projects allow a sense of ownership and a sense of leadership. Company: Flexible work schedule (can work from home at least on occasion), your coworkers are all nice and smart and they feel like your "professional family", people are open and honest and hard working/driven, people are high communicators and foster a teamwork environment, works with clients that align with your personal interests, offers a decent work/life balance while still being challenging.
The perfect position would be working for a manager who has experience in my field and can grow me as an employee. A role which encourages independent decision making, has interesting projects and upholds a quality brand. The perfect company would be a diverse, laid back workplace devoid of drama or politics. Where groups collaborate on providing the best service and products possible for customers.
