4.NATURAL DISASTERS

These are the deadliest disasters on earth which kills thousands of people and left an ugly marked to

their country. Below are some of the disasters;

Haiti Earthquake- Haiti was hit by earthquake with Magnitude 7.0,. This is the strongest

earthquake that hit the country since the year 1770. There are so many people have lost their

homes, and since people were moved out to evacuation center, cholera infected most of the

people and killing 4,000 people.

Japan Tsunami -March 10, 2011, Japan was shocked by a 9.0 earthquake and a powerful

tsunami.Which results to the explosion of the Fukushima nuclear plants. Innumerable missing

people and deaths, entire villages and towns being wiped out, and economy was seriously

affected.

Italy -Ship sank - It has just recently reported about the shrinking of the cruise ship in Italy. It

was aired on the news that the rescue team is so slow to move, which results to chaos. Peopl

fought for their lives, but the kind hearted filipino crews on the ship, helped the passenger to

get out on the ship. This incident reported 39 people died.

Philippines -Ondoy and Pepeng Storm - Typhoon Ondoy. Death Toll: Official death count is

198 people with 46 missing. But unofficial count is already around 250 with more expected to

be added in the coming days. Typhoon Pepeng dumped one of the heaviest rains recorded,

heavier than the rainwater dumped by Typhoon Ondoy. The resulting floods reached as high

as the rooftop of several houses plus turned into rivers or bodies of water the rice fields

(agriculture is the major industry in the areas hardest hit by Pepeng) and destroyed several

roads and highways.

Sendong- another disaster in the philippines and it was named as the world's deadliest storm

for 2011. People were buried alive with mud and flash floods. The whole Cagayan de Oro town

was covered with mud. Men try to save usable items from flattened houses two days after

destructive rampaging waters from Cagayan de Oro river washed out villages in Sitio Kala-

Kala, Macasandig. Tropical storm Sendong hit the city Friday night and at least 258 people

were killed and an estimated 400 people are missing.
