Dear Bookseller,Having been an independent book publisher for over 25 years,

I am happy to continue with the publishing of high quality select works and to launch a new initiative with support from the Tri-S Foundation.

Millichap Books is pleased to announce that we are the distributor of two new volumes of poetry from ZigZag Press, William Kistler’s in the middle of things and Stephen Berg’s steam rising from a full bowl of rice. Berg is the founder of The American Poetry Review, the most widely read poetry magazine in the country. Both Kistler and Berg are well-established names in the poetry world.

As the publisher of Dr. Hiromi Shinya, the world-renown gastroenterologist, I am excited to announce his new volume, translated from the Japanese, Enzyme Factor 2, the follow up book to the bestselling Enzyme Factor.

Along with classic Native American and indigenous wisdom titles from Joseph Rael’s Being & Vibration and Thomas Mails’ Fools Crow Wisdom & Power among others, Millichap Books now has just published a new title by Onye Onyemaechi, The Drum: Voice of the Village. Onye’s presentations and workshops are highly in demand as transformative and healing experiences.

Best,Paulette Millichap

The fifth collection from a unique American poet

Originality and intellectual fervor are at the heart of William

Kistler’s work. In these 64 “studies,” the range of form and content—lyric, philosophical, political, cosmic—rivals the most accomplished contemporary poetry.

William Kistler attended Stanford University, where he studied Literature and Philosophy. He was on the board of Poets and Writers and was president from 1980 to 1985. He co-founded Poets House (New York) and served as treasurer. He is the author of four earlier volumes of poetry: The Elizabeth Sequence, America February, Poems of the Known World, and Notes Drawn from the River of Ecstasy. He was the co-editor for Buying America Back, a collection of essays on America’s social and economic issues. A strong supporter since his

university days of a balanced, democratic society, human rights and environmental integrity, Kistler continues his commitment. He lives in New York City.

In all the years I have known [Stephen Berg] he has been skeptical of Enlightenment even for the Zen masters who claim it. That contradiction is the driving force of these ‘versions.’ The Enlightened Dōgen we have come to anticipate, ecstatic and calm, sensitive to cosmic beauty, is steadily undermined by a curmudgeon Dōgen, blind, angry, pinned. …” – From the Afterword by Steve Antinoff

In this follow-up to his bestseller Enzyme Factor, Hiromi Shinya, MD, prominent gastroenterologist, shows

how bacteria work to produce enzymes and are thus key to keeping you healthy. He questions the currently popular approach of fighting disease with more and more pharmaceuticals and explains how his “Shinya Biozyme” program switches on your immune system to prevent cancer and other deseases.

“Your health depends on how well you maintain –

rather than exhaust – the source enzymes in your body.”

As our national medical system faces serious breakdowns Hiromi Shinya MD points the way to a new vision

for health care. His revolutionary research suggests we have a prototype enzyme that is the key to life and health. After 45 years as a practicing physician and examining over 300,000 people in the United States and Japan, Dr. Shinya tells us exactly what to do to be healthy, to stay healthy, and even to cure disease.

$18 USA/ $20.95 Canada Trade Paperback TK Pages, 6 x 9 ISBN 978-1-957462-23-9 Lifestyle/Diet/Health

In The Enzyme Factor 2, Dr. Hiromi Shinya again turns his visionary genius to the Power of Enzymes

to cure and restore. He provides even more compelling ways to obtain a young heart and fresh body, reverse aging, stop Alzheimers, prevent diabetes and rejuvenate your sex life.

Dr. Shinya’s diet and health regime is grounded in this 45 years of medical experience as a gastroenterologist in

the United States and Japan. He says much of modern medicine loses touch with the body as a whole system. He calls all medicine “poison” which should be used only as intervention for a short time. He says we need to work with a person’s whole system to bring about health and healing. Dr. Shinya’s research supports the idea of the body’s own miracle enzyme out of which all the enzymes the body needs are produced. He suggests cancer and other diseases occur when this key enzyme is stressed and cannot properly rejuvenate the body’s cellular structures. Dr. Shinya shows how what we eat can support or suppress that key enzyme.

Dr. Hiromi Shinya, MD, made a medical breakthrough when he was the co-inventor of colonoscopic surgery without the need for incision. This technique is named the Shinya technique for his contribution. He is retired Chief of Surgical Endoscopy, Beth Israel Medical Center and Retired Professor of Surgery at Albert Einstein College Medicine.

Felix Wolf found himself unexpectedly initiated into the mythological world of anthropologist and shaman Carlos Castaneda while on a two year sabbatical in Sri Lanka. This initiation led to a magical odyssey around the globe and culminated in a three-year apprenticeship with Castaneda until his death in 1998. During this time Wolf translated some of Castaneda’s writings into his native German and served as Castaneda’s simultaneous translator. Felix Wolf teaches workshops on the art of navigation and lectures internationally to a variety of audiences. He currently lives in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Felix Wolf

$20 USA / $24.95 CanadaTrade paperback original324 pages, 6x9978-0-9822900-1-9Memoir / Body, Mind & Spirit

The Art of Navigation examines how the author’s association with Carlos Castaneda transformed his

life — from a first encounter in 1980 to the present, more than a decade after Castaneda’s death. The story follows the journey of a modern-day shaman’s apprentice over thirty years and across the globe, from hedonistic beginnings towards

surrender and awakening, from a focus on magic and power to the emergence of love and compassion. The central theme of this memoir is the art of navigation, which entails living life in the spirit of a magical treasure hunt — playful, intuitive, fluid and fully aware in the Now.

The memoir starts out with a literally mind-stopping event that occurred shortly after Castaneda’s death, effectively completing the author’s apprenticeship. Then the narrative swings back to the beginning of the journey in the mountains of Sri Lanka; from there it follows a path of magic and discovery that leads through India, Nepal, Germany, France, Mexico and the United States. It is an honest and unpretentious account of an unusual spiritual awakening, introducing the art of navigation as a most elegant and fascinating pathway into our essential nature.
