Millthorpe Platform
Opening
This Friday, 15th March sees the opening
ceremony for the new Millthorpe Railway Platform. The senior and junior choirs have been busily learning some train
related repertoire to help celebrate this exciting
event for the village.
The SRC, choir students and school leaders will be involved in the opening ceremony. Participating students will be walked down to the Railway Station at 11am, by supervising teachers. The choir will perform 3 songs, the school leaders will perform the Wiradjuri welcome in Language, and all will be provided a sausage sizzle at the conclusion of the ceremony by the Village Committee. As students have signed permission notes to walk within the
village, there is no need for an additional permission note. Choir students have been asked to wear their formal school uniforms to sing. They are welcome to bring their sports uniform to change into after the formal event has concluded. If your child is unable to consume a sausage sizzle, please
pack an alternative lunch
for this day.
Three-way
Conferences
Each year we hold parent, teacher and student conferences to discuss learning goals for your child/ren. Our conferences will be held during Week 7, from Monday 11 March to
Friday 15 March
We are using an online booking form this year to book interview time-slots. Information about how to book has been distributed to families this week. Please book your session time with your child’s
teacher using this online
system.
A reminder that if you wish to discuss your child’s learning, I encourage you to organise a time where the teacher can give you their whole attention to discuss your child’s
progress.
Tell Them From Me
Twice each year senior students in years 4, 5 and 6 complete the online Tell Them From Me surveys during their IT lesson with
Miss Jordan. The results of the surveys are used to inform school planning and resourcing from the
students perspective.
If you do not want your child to complete the surveys in 2019, please
advise the office.
Special Canteen
It’s the last week to get your canteen orders in for Americana day! Order forms went home last week and are due back at school this Friday 15th March. Americana Canteen Day is on Friday 22nd
March. If you are a parent and are able to assist, please talk
to Tracey Nash.

Euphonium Looking for a
home
Due to the generosity of the P&C, Millthorpe Public School has added a
euphonium to our collection of
instruments.
We need someone to join the band with a love of bass, and a propensity to raspberries! The Euphonium is a
bass instrument, like a small tuba.
MPS Band Program
Yay! Nearly all band students have paid their fees, and have received their instruments. There are approximately 20 instruments looking for a home, lots of trumpets, some flutes and clarinets, a tenor sax, three trombones and a brand new euphonium! We would love to have these instruments in homes,
being used, please consider joining the Band program, which is now up
and running smoothly.
School Photo Day-Monday !
Notes are to be returned to the office prior to photo day on Monday 18th March. You can now order and pay online for your photo package. Please see the office staff if you need
another note.
Remember to wear your full school uniform on Monday—black shoes please, hair neatly done with school coloured ribbons and bands. No jewellery or painted nails for girls or
boys please.

Head Lice Alert
There have been a few reports of head lice already this term. Please check your child’s hair regularly for eggs and nits. They are usually found near the hairline around the ears and at the back of the neck. Please treat your child with an effectively system found at the chemist. It is important to repeat the process regularly to ensure head lice at covered that each stage of their growth cycle. Please discourage children from sharing or borrowing hats by ensuring they
have their own hat each day.

SAVE THE DATE – SUNDAY, 7th
APRIL 2019 The Millthorpe Markets are on again on Sunday, 7 April 2019. The bi-annual markets are the school’s major fundraiser and provide valuable resources including engaging learning materials, interactive technology and fun refurbishments in the playground.
The markets could not be run without so many wonderful volunteers.
This year we will be asking our volunteers to ‘sign up’ using an online vol-unteer sheet. A link will be posted on School Stream next week. Please keep an eye out for the link so you can secure your preferred time slot.
We will also email the link to all families who have given the P&C permis-sion to contact them by email. If you are unable to access email, please call or text the Volunteer Coordinator for the Markets Committee on 0459 828 137 or drop a note into the front office.
Don’t forget, if you cannot volunteer on the day, you can still support the school by baking some cakes for the MPS Cake Stall! Further details will follow soon.
Thank you for supporting the markets and Millthorpe Public School.
Don’t forget to send in your Easter eggs,
gifts, baskets, or toys to the
office for the Easter Raffle.
Thanks so much! signed

Stage 2 and 3 enjoyed a visit from Lydia and Chris from Netwaste to investigate how Millthorpe
Public School is tracking with their recycling mission. We were very happy to receive thumbs up
from Lydia and Chris but were very surprised to hear that 61% of our waste is soft plastic. The SRC
will investigate some initiatives on reducing our soft plastic waste. Congratulations to MPS for
making the recycling successful.

MILLTHORPE JUNIOR SOCCER
Boys’ PSSA Cricket - Match Report Yesterday, we played Blayney Public School in the PSSA Boys’ Cricket knockout competition
for 2019. After some fine individual performances with the bat and an outstanding whole
team effort on the field we were victorious! We lost the toss and were sent into bat. Sam Tay-
lor and Jake Hurst opened the innings and did a great job in setting us up for a competitive
total. Wickets fell regularly in the middle of the innings, but a fantastic late innings partner-
ship between Braydon Collins (18 not out and our top scorer) and Ned Jamieson saved the
day, and we finished our 25 overs at 7 for 100.
All of our bowlers were brilliant, with accurate bowling backed up with some very enthusias-
tic fielding, although we did put down several catches! Connor Bennett always looked like
taking wickets and finished with 1 for 8 off 4 overs. Likewise, Jake Hurst looked dangerous (1
for 9 off 5 overs) and was unlucky not take more wickets, Jacob Bird was very economical (0
for 1 off 2 overs) and Braydon Collins chimed in with a wicket (1 for 11 off 3 overs). They were
very well supported by Harry Richards (1 for 14 off 4 overs) and Levi Azie (1 for 15 off 5 overs).
Blayney managed to score 7 for 76 from their 25 overs.
Braydon Collins (in his first ever game of cricket!) was an obvious choice for man of the
match, well done. A great result for the team considered our limited preparation. We now
move on to play the winner of Eglinton Public and Bathurst Public in Bathurst.
