Milltown’s After School Activities Program
Fall 2014 Session 1
Session 1 runs September 16, 2014- October 14, 2014

What are Miltie’s Mini Courses?
Activity courses provide fun, challenge, and excitement for new
learning that capitalizes on the different “intelligences” of children.
Instructors are all staff of Milltown School.
When are Mini Courses?
All Mini Courses are held one day per week at Milltown School from
2:50-4:15 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

When does session begin?
All sessions run for 5 consecutive weeks. There are also make-up
weeks built into all sessions.
Where do I pick up my child
Parent pickup takes place at 4:15 at the front door/main entrance.
Parents can drive up and pick up children curbside. No parents are
allowed inside the school.
Fees
All Mini Courses cost $60 per student per session. Ten dollars for
every registration will go to the Milltown PTO. If there are additional
fees required for a Mini Course, they are not included in the PTO
donation and go directly to the teacher.
Minimum/Maximum
Some courses have minimums that must be met in order for the course
to run. Please be sure to register early to ensure that your child gets a
spot and to guarantee that the class runs!
Snacks
You may send your child with a drink and snack. Some teachers will
provide a snack during the class. Please read all descriptions and reach
out to your individual teachers if your child has any food allergies or
restrictions.

All registration and payment is completely ONLINE!!

**NOTE: You will only be able to register once with the same email address. If you have a current Paypal

add another course later, you need to use a different email address. It is just a glitch in the system that we
cannot change. If you experience any problems with registration, please send an email to
Late Registration Fee
Any registration submitted late and prior to the start of the course, will
automatically be charged a $20.00 late fee. Also any changes made after original
registration will be subject to $20.00 fee as well. We cannot guarantee that late
registrations will be added.

Full Course Descriptions
TUESDAY
Course Title: Lego Robotics
Course Description: Join Mr. Lembo and Mrs. Martinez on Tuesdays to build
various objects out of Legos. The students will use a laptop to program their
creation to perform challenges. This course is a repeat of last session. If you have
already taken this course please do not sign up again.

Course Title: Delightful Decorators! with Ms. Tang and Miss Peloso
Course Description: : Come and spend the afternoon making fun and creative
decorations for Milltown School!!! Throughout the year Delightful Decorators will
snowmen, to gardens and planters, you will help make Milltown School looking
simply delightful!
This course will run ALL FIVE SESSIONS. *Each session will consist of
different decorations and activities, based on school activities and time of the year.
Students are allowed to sign up for as many sessions they are interested in.

Course Title: Summer Camp Favorites
Course Description: Sign up and have a blast doing your favorite summer camp
games and WATER GAMES. Go on the slip and slide or play some of your
favorite camp games such as Around the World, Home run derby, Newcomb,
Capture the flag, and more!

Course Title: Candy Creations
Course Description: Sweet treats to build and eat! Come satisfy your sweet tooth
as we make delicious candy creations. Students will learn how to make chocolate
molds, lollipops, taffy, and much, much more!

WEDNESDAY
Course Title: Crafts
Course Description: Join Mrs. Martinez on Wednesdays for an afternoon of arts
and crafts. Students will use a variety of materials such as paint a ceramic pot,
sand art, etc.

Course Title: Striking Soccer Stars
Course Description: Learn how to play soccer with Ms. Naselli! We will learn
about the various positions and the importance of each coming together to work as
a team. We will learn strategies to improve skills in specific positions and general
strategies to help when playing the game. Strategies also include learning
teamwork. We will also look at famous soccer players in their specialized positions
to learn strategy and skills. Most of the class will take place outside, but sometimes
we will work in the classroom to be able to view famous players and their
strategies. We may watch some clips from the World Cup!

Course Title: Reader’s Theater!
Course Description: Reader’s Theater is a great educational activity that enables
students to use their best reading voices to bring characters to life. Students also
get to show off their creativity by working together to create all costumes and
props. Students are invited to read their lines during the play or memorize them as
a challenge if they wish. In the final week of the course, students will put on their
plays and record them to share with families! A portion of the extra cost per child
goes to purchasing flash drives so that each child gets a copy of the play!
Special Requests: Parent permission for students to be recorded putting on
their play.

Course Title: Coach King’s Football Training Camp
Course Description: Learn drills, skills, and games from 2007 ALL AMERICAN
FOOTBALL PLAYER and NJAC/East Region Defensive Player of the Year…
Joseph King!! At camp we will practice drills for turnovers, agility, and reaction
time. Don’t forget about games like End-Zone Football, Capture the Football, and
two hand touch football. See you at training camp!

Course Title: Teamwork Challengers!
Course Description: Do you like working together on a team? Do you like
thinking of the most creative and different ways to reach a goal? If this describes
you, then join Miss Boise as we work together and challenge each other in some of
Milltown’s favorite teamwork games like Titanic, Hula Hut Knockdown, the
Parachute, and many new activities including The Amazing Race!

Course Title: Poetry and Art
Course Description: The students will learn about a variety of poetry and create
their own. The students will then illustrate and color using a variety of art
supplies.

Course Title: Say Cheese!
Course Description: “Say cheese!” Come and learn all about photography and
the art of taking pictures. Students will take pictures based on a variety of thematic
units and then learn how to edit, crop, and artistically alter their prints with digital
details and computerized drawings. Students will have the opportunity to create
and take home a slide show of their work in addition to their printed final copies.
All participants will need a digital camera and/or an I-pad device to take pictures.
We do have a limited number of extra devices that students will have to share if
they do not have a camera of their own.

Course Title: Music Videos
Course Description: Direct and create your own music video!! Kids will work in
groups to show off their dance and acting skills!
*All videos will be recorded on i-Pads using i-Movie. Completed videos will be
saved and sent home on flash drives. Snacks will be provided.

FRIDAY
Course Title: Chess
Course Description: The game of chess is over 1300 years old and is one of the
most popular games in the world!!! Do you want to learn how to play chess?? OR
do you already know how to play, but want to learn a couple new strategies that
can make you a better player? Join us and challenge yourself while playing this
classic game!
Teachers: Ms. Tang, Room 104

NOTE*Chess will begin Friday, September 26th, and will end Friday, October

Course Title: Say “Hola” to Spanish with Mrs. Musso
Course Description: ¿Hablas Español? You will after this fun and engaging
course. In this course, students will not only learn vocabulary and conversational
skills, they will also learn all about the Hispanic culture. This course will be loads
of fun! ¡Qué divertido!
This course will be offered all 5 sessions and with each new session you will learn
more and more vocabulary!

Course Title: Crafting Up a Storm!
Course Description: Do you love to make crafts? If so, this course is for you!
You will make some beautiful projects using various techniques such as stamping,
crafting markers and paper decoupage. You will leave with gorgeous projects that
you can display and use!

Course Title: Championship Sports
Course Description: Come to Championship sports where every week focuses on
a different sports championship. Sports include:
-World Series (baseball) - World Cup (soccer)
-Super bowl (football) - Stanley Cup (hockey)
-NBA Finals (basketball)
