MILWOOD RESIDENCE IMAGE SUMMARY

IMAGE 6

The project utilizes a number of green building principles to reduce energy and resource consumption.

GREEN BUILDING PRINCIPLES

SMALL FOOTPRINT

Moving the bedrooms up to the second floor minimizes the building footprint and leaves space for gardens and exterior gathering areas.

PERMEABILITY

Hardscape is kept to a minimum, while planting and permeable surfaces fill much of the garden space.

WATER MANAGEMENT

Rainwater is harvested from the roof for use in landscape irrigation.

Loose hedges provide screening for privacy without blocking out the vegetation, sunlight, and charm of the neighboring properties.
