As the major coal producer in the world, China reached annual coal output ofnearly 3.5 billion tons in 2011, accounting for about 37% of the world 's totalcoal output, and maintains the high growth and high profit trend.

Due to its production characteristics, the coal industry has high risks such asthe permeable, roof fall, fire protection /extinguishing, coal and gas pop-out,gas and coal-dust explosion and so on, and the million tons death rate remainshigh

Although IT system has a good foundation, it is still in urgent need of strengtheninginformation exchange and sharing between the various systems to meet safetymonitoring, emergency rescue, production and management automation and otherneeds

Industry consolidation leads to the trend of large group development. In the process ofindustry concentration, overall information integration needs to be improved.

With the development of sensors, sensor networks, mobile communications and automatic controltechnology, development trend of M2M applications in the coal industry will have the followingcharacteristics:

With increasingly improved bandwidth, coverage and disaster tolerance capacity of the mobile communication network, mobile broadband data network will be extended throughout the mine.

With the maturity of MEMS technology, it will achieve sensing of temperature, pressure, light, gas composition and other environmental parameters in small dimensions to lay a foundation for the multi-function integration of terminal.
