Museo delle Miniere di Montecatini Val di CecinaLa più importante miniera di rame in Europa tra il 1827 ed il 1907
La storia del bellissimo borgo medievale di Monteca-tini Val di Cecina è legata alla Miniera di Rame rimasta in attività fino al 1907 e che ha dato il nome ad una delle maggiori industrie del XX° secolo: la Montecatini S.p.A. divenuta poi Montedison; tappa storica nel campo dell’e-strazione di rame. Gli Etruschi furono i primi a sfruttare le abbondanti risorse naturali di questa zona.
Il complesso Minerario, posto a circa 1 km dal borgo, racconta la storia degli uomini, la loro laboriosità e la loro intraprendenza; sono visitabili le gallerie originali ottocentesche (il reticolo delle gallerie si estendeva per circa 35 km fino ad una profondità di 315 m), la torre di Pozzo Alfredo con il montacarichi “sospeso sulle teste dei visitatori” e dalla cui sommità si può spaziare su gran parte del territorio dell’Alta Val di Cecina. Il borgo minerario, ristrutturato ed ancora oggi in parte abitato, arricchisce di fascino la visita che acquista una suggestio-ne unica durante l’apertura notturna.

Die Geschichte des wunderschönen, mittelalterlichen Dorfes Montecatini Val di Cecina ist mit dem bis 1907 in Betrieb gebliebenem Kupferbergwerk verbunden, das einem der gröβten Industriebetriebe des 20. Jahrhunderts seinen Namen gab: die Montecatini A.G., die später zur Montedison wurde; ein wichtiges Kapitel in der Ge-schichte des Kupferabbaus.
Als Erste nutzten die Etrusker die reichen Rohstoff-vorkommnisse in diesem Gebiet.
Das ca. 1 km vom Dorf entfernt gelegene Bergwerk-gebiet gibt Zeugnis der Menschen, deren Arbeitsamkeit und Unternehmungsgeist; zu besichtigen sind die aus dem 17. Jdt. stammenden Originalstollen (das Stollen-netz ist insgesamt 35 km lang und geht bis in eine Tiefe von 315 m) und der Förderturm „Pozzo Alfredo“ mit dem „weit über die Köpfe der Besucher“ reichenden Aufzug, von dessen Gipfel ein Groβteil des oberen Cecinatals zu sehen ist.
Das sehr gut erhaltene und noch zum Teil bewohn-te Bergwerksdorf besticht durch seinen Charme, ganz besonders bei Nachtführungen.
Das Documentationszentrum im Herzen des Dorfes gibt einen Überblick über die unterirdischen Ressourcen, die seit der Antike im Cecinatal abgebaut wurden: Kup-fer, Halit, Alabaster, das geothermische Feld, Chalcedon, Braunkohle.

L’histoire du très beau village médiéval de Montecati-ni Val di Cecina est liée à sa mine de cuivre qui est restée en activité jusqu’en 1907. C’est d’elle qu’a tiré son nom une des plus grandes industries du XXème: la Montecati-ni S.p.A devenue plus tard la Montedison; étape histori-que dans le domaine de l’ extraction du cuivre.
Les Etrusques ont été les premiers à exploiter les abondantes ressources naturelles de cette zone.
L’exploitation minière est située à environ 1 km du bourg. Il témoigne de l’histoire des hommes, de leur tra-vail et de leur courage; on peut visiter les galeries origina-les du XIXème siècle (le réseau de galeries s’étendait sur à peu près 35 km à une profondeur de 315m) et la tour du Puits Alfredo avec le monte-charge “suspendu au dessus des têtes des visiteurs”. Depuis son sommet on découvre une large étendue du territoire de la Haute Val di Cecina.
Le bourg minier a été restauré et est encore en par-tie habité; il contribue de son charme à la visite dont il augmente d’autant le pittoresque au cours des ouvertures nocturnes.
Le Centre de Documentation, au coeur du bourg propose un profil des richesses du sous-sol de la Haute Val di Cecina, ressources qui ont été utilisées depuis l’an-tiquité comme le cuivre, le sel gemme, l’albâtre, le bassin géothermique, la calcédoine, le lignite.

Das sehr gut erhaltene und noch zum Teil bewohn-te Bergwerksdorf besticht durch seinen Charme, ganz besonders bei Nachtführungen.
Das Documentationszentrum im Herzen des Dorfes gibt einen Überblick über die unterirdischen Ressourcen, die seit der Antike im Cecinatal abgebaut wurden: Kup-fer, Halit, Alabaster, das geothermische Feld, Chalcedon, Braunkohle.

L’histoire du très beau village médiéval de Montecati-ni Val di Cecina est liée à sa mine de cuivre qui est restée en activité jusqu’en 1907. C’est d’elle qu’a tiré son nom une des plus grandes industries du XXème: la Montecati-ni S.p.A devenue plus tard la Montedison; étape histori-que dans le domaine de l’ extraction du cuivre.
Les Etrusques ont été les premiers à exploiter les abondantes ressources naturelles de cette zone.
L’exploitation minière est située à environ 1 km du bourg. Il témoigne de l’histoire des hommes, de leur tra-vail et de leur courage; on peut visiter les galeries origina-les du XIXème siècle (le réseau de galeries s’étendait sur à peu près 35 km à une profondeur de 315m) et la tour du Puits Alfredo avec le monte-charge “suspendu au dessus des têtes des visiteurs”. Depuis son sommet on découvre une large étendue du territoire de la Haute Val di Cecina.
Le bourg minier a été restauré et est encore en par-tie habité; il contribue de son charme à la visite dont il augmente d’autant le pittoresque au cours des ouvertures nocturnes.
Le Centre de Documentation, au coeur du bourg propose un profil des richesses du sous-sol de la Haute Val di Cecina, ressources qui ont été utilisées depuis l’an-tiquité comme le cuivre, le sel gemme, l’albâtre, le bassin géothermique, la calcédoine, le lignite.
