Mineral Production During September 2013 (Provisional) 

The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector in September 2013 was higher by 1.3% compared to that of the preceding month. The mineral sector has shown a positive growth of 3.3% during September 2013 as compared to that of the corresponding month of previous year. 

The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during September 2013 was Rs. 16120 crore. The contribution of petroleum (crude) was the highest at Rs. 5625 crore (35%). Next in the order of importance were: coal Rs. 4939 crore, iron ore Rs. 2198 crore, natural gas (utilized) Rs. 1801 crore, lignite Rs. 383 crore and limestone Rs. 355 crore. These six minerals together contributed about 95% of the total value of mineral production in September 2013. 

Production level of important minerals in September 2013 were: coal 406 lakh tonnes, lignite 30 lakh tonnes, natural gas (utilized) 2814 million cu. m., petroleum (crude) 31 lakh tonnes, bauxite 1239 thousand tonnes, chromite 170 thousand tonnes, copper conc. 12 thousand tonnes, gold 117 kg., iron ore 107 lakh tonnes, lead conc. 12 thousand tonnes, manganese ore 199 thousand tonnes, zinc conc. 113 thousand tonnes, apatite & phosphorite 136 thousand tonnes, dolomite 504 thousand tonnes, limestone 206 lakh tonnes, magnesite 14 thousand tonnes and diamond 3001 carat. 

In September 2013 the output of apatite & phosphorite increased by 133.8%, manganese ore 27.9%, magnesite 7.3%, iron ore 6.9%, limestone 6.8%, chromite 6.7%, coal 6.4%, bauxite 5.4% and lignite 4.5 percent. However the production of natural gas (utilized) decreased by 3.0%, petroleum (crude) 3.1%, dolomite 4.6%, copper conc. 6.0%, gold 6.4%, zinc conc.12.8%, lead conc. 18.2% and diamond 21.2 percent.

Mineral Production during August 2013 (Provisional) 

The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector in August 2013 was lower by 1.9% compared to that of the preceding month. The mineral sector has shown a negative growth of 0.2% during August 2013 as compared to that of the corresponding month of previous year. 

The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during August 2013 was Rs. 16099 crore. The contribution of petroleum (crude) was the highest at Rs. 5806 crore (36%). Next in the order of importance were: coal Rs. 4590 crore, iron ore Rs. 2313 crore, natural gas (utilized) Rs. 1858 crore, lignite Rs. 365 crore and limestone Rs. 342 crore. These six minerals together contributed about 95% of the total value of mineral production in August 2013. 

Production level of important minerals in August 2013 were: coal 382 lakh tonnes, lignite 29 lakh tonnes, natural gas (utilized) 2902 million cu. m., petroleum (crude) 32 lakh tonnes, bauxite 1376 thousand tonnes, chromite 166 thousand tonnes, copper conc. 12 thousand tonnes, gold 125 kg., iron ore 115 lakh tonnes, lead conc. 15 thousand tonnes, manganese ore 175 thousand tonnes, zinc conc. 129 thousand tonnes, apatite & phosphorite 77 thousand tonnes, dolomite 537 thousand tonnes, limestone 197 lakh tonnes, magnesite 14 thousand tonnes and diamond 3810 carat. 

In August 2013 the output of diamond increased by 63.0%, gold 28.9%, lignite.14.8%, copper conc. 9.3%, dolomite 5.6%, magnesite 3.1% and iron ore 0.3 percent. The production of petroleum (crude) remains at the level of previous month. However the production of natural gas (utilized) decreased by 0.6%, manganese ore 3.7%, coal 3.9%, zinc conc. 6.1%, lead conc. 14.0%, limestone 15.4%, chromite 17.0%, apatite & phosphorite 18.6% and bauxite 29.6 percent.

Mineral Production during July 2013 (Provisional) 

The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector in July 2013 was higher by 0.1% compared to that of the preceding month. The mineral sector has shown a negative growth of 2.3% during July 2013 as compared to that of the corresponding month of previous year. 

The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during July 2013 was Rs. 16641 crore. The contribution of petroleum (crude) was the highest at Rs. 5804 crore (35%). Next in the order of importance were: coal Rs. 4899 crore, iron ore Rs. 2472 crore, natural gas (utilized) Rs. 1868 crore, lignite Rs. 308 crore and limestone Rs. 398 crore. These six minerals together contributed about 95% of the total value of mineral production in July 2013. 

Production level of important minerals in July 2013 were: coal 399 lakh tonnes, lignite 25 lakh tonnes, natural gas (utilized) 2918 million cu. m., petroleum (crude) 32 lakh tonnes, bauxite 2034 thousand tonnes, chromite 214 thousand tonnes, copper conc. 11 thousand tonnes, gold 97 kg., iron ore 119 lakh tonnes, lead conc. 18 thousand tonnes, manganese ore 191 thousand tonnes, zinc conc. 137 thousand tonnes, apatite & phosphorite 57 thousand tonnes, dolomite 522 thousand tonnes, limestone 235 lakh tonnes, magnesite 15 thousand tonnes and diamond 2338 carat. 

In July 2013 the output of bauxite increased by 38.3%, limestone 4.9%, zinc conc.3.9%, iron ore 2.6%, petroleum (crude) 1.8%, natural gas (utilized) 1.7% and dolomite 0.4 percent. However the production of coal decreased by 0.8%, manganese ore 2.5%, lead conc. 3.6%, copper conc. 6.6%, apatite & phosphorite 7.4%, magnesite 7.8%, chromite 11.9%, diamond 14.5%, gold 21.8% and lignite 32.2 percent.

Mineral Production during June 2013 (Provisional) 

The Index of Mineral Production of Mining and Quarrying Sector in June 2013 was lower by 4.3% compared to that of the preceding month. The mineral sector has shown a negative growth of 3.9% during June 2013 as compared to that of the corresponding month of previous year. 

The total value of Mineral Production (excluding Atomic & Minor Minerals) in the country during June 2013 was Rs. 16892 crore.

The contribution of petroleum (crude) was the highest at Rs. 5702 crore (34%). Next in the order of importance were: coal Rs. 5110 crore, iron ore Rs. 2494 crore, natural gas (utilized) Rs. 1836 crore, lignite Rs. 444 crore and limestone Rs. 377 crore. These six minerals together contributed about 95% of the total value of mineral production in June 2013.

Production level of important minerals in June 2013 were:

Coal 406 lakh tonnes, Lignite 37 lakh tonnes, Natural Gas (utilized) 2868 million cu. m., Petroleum (Crude) 31 lakh tonnes, Bauxite 1530 thousand tonnes, Chromite 259 thousand tonnes, Copper Conc. 12 thousand tonnes, Gold 125 kg., Iron Ore 113 lakh tonnes, Lead Conc. 18 thousand tonnes, Manganese Ore 196 thousand tonnes, Zinc Conc. 132 thousand tonnes, Apatite & Phosphorite 95 thousand tonnes, Dolomite 527 thousand tonnes, Limestone 219 lakh tonnes, Magnesite 16 thousand tonnes and Diamond 2735 carat.

In June 2013 the output of Chromite increased by 51.9%, Lead Conc. 9.5%, Apatite & Phosphorite 3.6% and Magnesite 2.6 percent.

However the production of Copper Conc. decreased by 0.1%, Petroleum (Crude) 1.5%, Natural Gas (Utilized) and Gold 2.3% each, Coal 5.9%, Zinc Conc.7.6%, Dolomite 9.2%, Limestone 11.4%, iron ore 12.6%, Lignite 16.2%, Manganese Ore 17.9%, Bauxite 19.4% and Diamond 26.8 percent.
