Three legal subjects responsible for energy production are:
Power Utility of the Republic of Srpska
Power Utility of FB&H
Power Utility of Croatian community Herceg-Bosna
ENERGY PRODUCTION (INCLUDING FOSSIL)
Fossil energy production in Bosnia and
Herzegovina is exclusively based on
coal. In the period 2010-2016 in B&H
TPP it took shared of 60% in total
electricity production.
Hydropower plants, dependant on
hydrological conditions share from
32% to 49%, average 38%.
The highest production provide PU of
B&H (6.6-7.6 TWh), following by PU
RS (5.1-6.4 TWh). Lowest one
provides PU HZHB (1.2-2.6 TWh).
(Source: Energy strategy of FB&H up to 2035).
In the RS operate the first private TPP Stanari in ownership
of the Energy Financing Team Company (EFT) from
London, UK. It is in operation from November 2016.
For the first year of the operation it produced about 1740
GWh.

CHALLENGES IN HARMONIZATION ON NATIONAL LEVEL – MINING PROJECTS
•NO LEGAL BACKGOUND FOR MINEAL RESOURCES CONSIDERATION AT THE
NATIONAL LEVEL
•ONLY AT THE ENTITY LEVEL (RS AND FB&H) ! CITERIAS FOR REPORTING ARE
CLEAR (AND HARMONIZED AS WELL ON ENTITY LEVEL) !
•STRONGER COOPERATION BETWEEN INSTITUTINS COLLECT AND PUBLISH DATA
ON MINERAL RESOURCES.
BUT IN PRAXIS...
•SOMETIME CONCESSION CONTACT FOR EXPLORATIONS, IN SENSE OF REPORTING,
ARE NOT IN THE LINE WITH NATIONAL LEGAL POLICY !!! E.G. THOSE RELATED WITH
OIL EXPLORATIONS
•POLYMETALLIC DEPOSITS REPORTING ! USUALLY UNCOMPLETE !
•CONTROL OF THE PRESENTED DATA, ESPECIALLY THOSE RELATED WITH QUALITY !
NO ANY NATIONAL CONTROL LABORATORY FOR MINERAL RESOURCES !!!
•APPROPRIATE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND ON-LINE AVAILABILITY OF THE
INFORMATION

UNFC –TOOL FOR BETER REPOTING AND MANAGEMENT OF THE RESERVES
• Advantage of the methodology is in user‐friendly and uniform system for classifying and
reporting of reserves and resource
•UNFC should be useful tool, in combination with current methodology applied for the
reserves reporting, for more comprehensible reserves reporting, supported with social
and economic information.
•To be a tool the UNFC must be for the first introduced in expert and scientific comunity
•Workshops organised for national experts are neccessary; dissemination of the available
documents: Application of the UNFCfR to GTE – Selected case Studies
•Implemented by UN (implementing) organizations active in the country (e.g. UNDP)
•For better understending of the methodology the results of the ongoing international
projects (e.d. DARLING, RESEERVE etc) should be desiminated
