This basket is woven using flat oval in natural reed which sits on an oval wooden base. Shaping is done in a plain weave. All will embellish their vase by adding a decorative accent using a jasper fan and additional beads.

A basket for your bike (or walker!). Woven base features a chain lock fill-in using wide binder cane. “Creel” type shape is accented with cane weavers and braided God’s Eye you will weave from cane. Rim is lashed with carriage cane. Lastly add leather straps with buckles for attaching to handlebars.

Valentine Hearts

The Valentine Hearts vary from the usual 1-3-5 twill technique. It has three 2-1-2 rows that create the connecting hearts around the basket. The basket starts with a 3/3 herringbone twill base. The student will make one square basket; however, the instructions for materials for all five sizes of baskets are included in the pattern.

Weave a filled-in base of paired filler stakes, no splitting here. Create horizontal bands of color with natural/dyed in navy accent (other colors available). Emphasis on attention to detail and hand shaping from square base to round rim. Triple braid wrap decorates this tote from start of handle to finish with several handle wrap techniques available.

You build this basket on a 6” X 10” ebony base. Black and natural spokes are woven in a 3-rod wale and continuous weave. The rim is a zigzag (lattice) pattern that captures black wire handles. Round reed inserted into the bottom weavers makes an embellishment that mimics piano keys.

It’s Your Sweetgrass Basket

In this class you will choose the sweetgrass design of your choice, select from round or oval shaping and design with either pine knots, a twisted rim side handles or the traditional look. The royal blue dyed reed is a start-stop weave that alternates with a continuous seagrass weave. Handles are carved from round reed (bring a knife) and joined with a knot on top. Cozy Cradle a.k.a. Flower Basket

Pati English Weave many interesting techniques in this wine cradle; bottle stored horizontally keeping the cork wet.
