Greetings to all BVE members, As the new season has started, a new life has blown into BVE. For starters we got a new board. Me, Ken Lok will be the chairman. Treasurer will be trusted in Chung Hang Cheung hands. The seat for secretary is reserved for Dorianne Swieringa. Of course this new board will be available for any mischiefs, question, and remarks as usual. Further we have also new TCs, Ratna Werry and Kyung Mentink. After a few years, we also got a new trainer, Arjen Smith who will be introduced in this dropshot as well. Be prepared to get aching muscles after Tuesday’s training. Last but not least, a long time no see the Events Committee (FeCo). There will be no other then Jean Pierre van der Waal and Sander Jaspers who will be keeping your weekends fully booked. And that wasn’t a punchline. Anyhow, on behalf of the BVE board we wish you a sporty and fun season with us. Nice to meet you all, Ken Lok Dorianne Swieringa, Secretary Hi BVE’ ers, hereby I’ll like to introduce myself. I am Dorianne, 23 years old and studying tax law. I am a BVE member since last year, then I was convinced by the board to become a member of the board this year. After a few moments of doubting whether or not to this, I decided it would be nice to be in the boarder of such a nice club. I hope it will be a nice year for all the (new) members. Greets, Dorianne Chung Hang Cheung, Treasurer My name is Chung Hang, I study Business Economics at the Erasmus University. Last year, I joined the badminton club BV Erasmus. It was a great experience, I got to know new people, had a lot of fun and also participated at several student tournaments. The coming year, I will be the Treasurer of BV Erasmus. As a treasurer i am responsible for managing the books and keeping track of expenses that BVE incur. I will ensure that our club remains financially stable. Regards, Chung Hang Kyung Mentink & Ratna Werry, Technical Commissioners Hello we are Kyung (22) and Ratna (24). One of us has already finished her studies (Ratna) and the other one hopes to finish by the end of the year (Kyung). We have now been a member of BVE for a couple of years and have played quite a few tournaments so far. We’ve always enjoyed that, which has inspired us to organise fun and competitive tournaments/competitions for you as well! Sooo this year we are responsible for the competition, internal competition and tournaments! Regards, Kyung & Ratna About myself: 25 years of badminton experience. Former player of the dutch national youth team (when I was young :-) and for 2 years a player of BVE. Trainer: I'm honoured to be a trainer of BVE. One of my own trainers, Michel Redeker, has been the trainer here in the past. And we're both born and raised in the city of Hoogeveen (northern countryside of Holland). My philosophy: train hard - have fun - togetherness Best BVE experience: BVE summerfarmcamp 2010 & first 3 days of Who's bad tournament in Paris. Worst BVE experience: BVE summerfarmcamp the day after the bbq & last day of Who's bad tournament. Grtz, Arjen Fall competition Mix 5th - Class Having been relegated from the 4th to the 5th class, one can assume that the opponents are a bit easier to beat than previous year. Yet, we lost the first four matches with a big red spank mark on the butt (three time 7-1 and one time 5-3). Luckily, these seemed to be the best teams of our competition. Honestly, those teams could even play one or two classes higher than they currently do. From the 5th match onwards, we started winning (5-3 and 7-1) and even played a draw against the number two (thanks to Ramon and Su). Current standings show that we’ll spend Christmas as number four. The remaining four matches (to be played in 2011) will be crucial, whether we’ll consolidate this 4th position. Gr, Sander Fall competition Men B Class After a successful season we finally got the first place in Men C- class competition. This meant we could upgrade to the B-Class. In the B-Class you can expect difficult opponents, higher play standard and etc. However we are hanging in there. Doing our very best in every match we played. Till now we have lost 2 matches with 5-3 and won with a convincing 8-0. According to toernooi.nl we are in the 3rd place. As the team captain we want to end this season at least in the top 3. Because this is the first time to enter in the B-class for us. Please cheer for us … Greetz,Ken Lok Arun Paragh My name is Arun Paragh. bachelor and master in Logistics and Operational Research, so I just have to finish my thesis. I have been interested in joining BVE since two years, because I have played recreational badminton before and wanted to improve myself. It was not possible back then, because of the workload of all the courses, so I just continued playing badminton on a recreational level. But now that I do not have a tight schedule anymore, I have joined BVE and I like it here. Everyone is nice and eager to help out, whether you have some questions or just for some small talk. The training sessions are nice and I learn a lot from them, not only from the trainer Arjen, but also from the other members. So I would say: keep up the good work! Lisa Yeng Hello everybody, I'm Lisa, a master marketing student of the Erasmus University. Badminton is one of my favourite sports, I've played badminton the last two years at the sport centre of the EUR. Since this schoolyear Xichen and I decided to join the BVE to gain more badminton skills. The BVE is a very nice club, the other members are very kind =) The training given by Arjen are sometimes what hard to follow, especially the warming-up!! XD But all with all it's a very fun experience to join the BVE ^^ Nhat Thanh I am Nhat Thanh, come from Vietnam. At the moment I am an active member of BV Erasmus. I had known about the BVE before I came here through my friends on facebook. Soon after arriving to Rotterdam, I registered to become member of BVE. And my decision did not disappoint me; spending 4 hours per week to play badminton is the best way to relax after classes. Moreover, I feel very comfortable with friendly atmosphere as well as feel free to play with other members. BVE is the place where I can regain my health and spirit for the busy life at school. Ken Wan Wong Hi, I'm Ken Wan Wong, second year law-student. I worked for several years at a sales-department, but decided to make a change and start a new study. Beside my study I also work for two Chinese non-profit organizations now. My role is contacting Dutch, mainly governmental, organizations for them. Further I'm also active in the Chinese Christian Church in Rotterdam. When I was young (long, long time ago ;-)) I played for a few years and it's nice to do it again. Also welcome to BVE: Xichen Ji, Baiba Dzelme, Windy Wong, Ella Cen
