KISSAN MELAIntroduction
Indian agriculture still remains the mainstay of the economy. I t contributes nearly one fifth to the GDP and provides livelihood to three fifth of the Indian population. In the recent past India in particular and world at large has witnessed an unprecedented i n c r e a s e i n f o o d p r i c e s a n d deceleration in the agricultural growth. It has thus necessitated for a close collaboration among farmers, scientists, NGO's, industries and other stakeholders for enhancing crop productivity and growth.
Kissan Mela at Udaipur, Rajasthan is an effort in the same direction. The Mela will bring together industry and other technology providers for threshold of farmers. It will bring awareness among farmers about latest developments in agriculture sector and thus choose the techno-logies that suit their requirements.
