Become a Part of Our Community Joining a CSA is one of the easiest ways you can participate in the exciting transformation taking place in our local food system. It not only ensures your family can enjoy the healthiest, safest, and freshest food possible; it also gives you a direct connection to the people that grow your food. As an educational nonprofit, it is part of MFA’s mission to make sure you connect with food and farming in a way that is meaningful for you. We offer many ways to be involved, from reading your member newsletter, to attending events on the farm, to working in the fields side-by-side with our farmers – depending on what sounds right for you. We will keep you in the loop all season about opportunities and events, and our staff is always happy to answer your questions. If you’d like to visit the farm outside of our regularly scheduled events, please contact us, and together we’ll plan something meaningful. WELCOME to Big River Farms CSA! By joining our CSA, you are not only directly supporting the current farmers, you’re making an investment in the future of organic agriculture in our community.

Join Us!At Big River Farms, we make it easy for you to feed your family the highest-quality Organic pro-duce, while at the same time playing a significant role in the transformation of our local food sys-tem. We offer a variety of share options to meet your family’s needs, and deliver to sites through-out the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs to make pick-up convenient. You can find more details on pricing and payment options, dropsite locations and other logistics on our website, www.mnfoodassociation.org, or by contacting us at 651-433-3676 or [email protected]

CSA Shares• Summer’s Best Veggies: 18 weeks of boxes full of

Organic vegetables at the peak of ripeness. • Every-Other Week Veggie Share: If a full box

each week is too much for you, opt for the ev-ery-other week share: the same great veggies, but not quite so much.

• FruitShare: Organic fruit from family farms across the country is available through a partnership with Everett Myers, the founder of FruitShare. Add 9 weeks of fruit on to your veggie share, or sign up for FruitShare as a stand-alone option.

• Fall Harvest Share: 3 weeks of storage veg-etables at the end of the season, to get your holidays off to a great start!

Dropsite locations are updated regularly, but include the following neighborhoods:

• Minneapolis: Nokomis, South Central, Southwest

• St. Paul: Midway, St. Anthony Village, Highland Park

• East Metro: Roseville, White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi, Shoreview, Stillwater, and Hudson, Wisconsin

What Makes Us Different?Like all Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms, we offer members a share of our harvest in exchange for pre-season support. This helps ensure a successful season by providing much-needed operating funds in the spring, when they’re needed most.

Big River Farms has many unique features that set it apart from other CSAs in the Twin Cities:

• Our produce is Certified Organic. We follow (and often exceed) the national standards set by the USDA for Organic production, and are monitored by a third-party certifier. This guar-antees to our customers that we’re using best practices for the health of the environment, our farmers, and the people who eat our produce.

• Your CSA membership supports multiple farmers. MFA is a local food hub: we share our resources to help small-scale farmers succeed in ways they wouldn’t be able to on their own. By growing for Big River Farms, farmers gain ac-cess to land, infrastructure, training, marketing and distribution channels while growing their own farm business.

• The farmers come from highly diverse back-grounds. MFA focuses on farmers from social-ly-disadvantaged backgrounds, including many immigrants and refugees. On any given day, you’ll meet farmers from 10 different countries while walking through our fields!

• We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Big River Farms is operated by the nonprofit Minnesota Food Association (MFA) to provide a guaranteed market for the farmers we support, and to gen-erate funds needed to train future farmers.
