17. Whereas the present trend toward immodesty of dress is so evidently out of keeping with the Word of God, girls and women who are members of the Pilgrim Holiness Church are not to appear in public wearing immodest forms of dress so current today, such as sun suits, shorts or without stockings, dresses of immodest length, slacks, or similar garments. Men and boys of the church are not to appear in public in shorts or without shirts.

Whereas in accordance with the Manual be it "Resolved, that ministerial Study Course be put on a yearly basis with the requirement that three study books and three reading books be the minimum requirement," and that each licensed minister correspond with the study course agency respecting his course and tests.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the seminar work be evaluated and credit be given by the study course agency.

26. Whereas it is very necessary at the time of pastoral change for the new pastor to become acquainted with his people as soon as possible and whereas the pastor leaving does not have adequate time for the preparation of a complete list of names and addresses of the members and constituency.

33. Whereas the majority of television programs are a definite hindrance to the spirituality of our people, bringing evil influence into the home: Be it resolved we go on record as opposing television.

34. In order to bring our Sunday Schools in line with the General Policy:

On the basis of the tithe paid to the district, the District Treasurer shall pay the 7 percent as required by the Pension Plan.

Pension Plan

Whereas the General Church has adopted and recommended the Pilgrim Pension Plan as a sound method of providing retirement benefits for aged Pilgrim ministers, and Whereas the Rocky Mountain Conference has declared its endorse-ment of the plan, and whereas action taken at the 1954 General Conference makes it mandatory for each local church to participate in the plan, we therefore recommend that every church, no less than once each quarter, send to the District Treasurer an amount equivalent to 8 percent of the pastor's salary as the confer-ence contribution to the Pension Plan.

DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

To our presiding General Superintendent, Rev. Wm. H. Neff, pastors, evan-gelists and lay delegates of the 44th annual assembly of the Rocky Mountain Conference. Greetings in the name of Him who has bought us with His own blood. I am made to rejoice, as from year to year I see the fulfillment of God's wonderful promises. The Book is a constant marvel to us. History tells us that it met the needs of God's people in the so called horse and buggy days but, thank God, we find it no less adequate in this jet age in which we live.

In the hurry of this fast age it is imperative that each one of us "take time" to be holy. It is the bounden duty of every official, pastor, evangelist and layman to make "spiritual values" the one objective of life. Only as we keep this vision constantly before us can we hope to see the work of the church go forward. Jesus said, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."

Local Church Improvements

The pastors and people of the Rocky Mountain District take a peculiar delight in the upkeep of their properties. Lawns have been put in and improved, worn sidewalks have been replaced, parsonages and church buildings have been re-decorated both inside and outside, new carpet aisle runners have been in-stalled. To give a detailed record of this work for each church would be a lengthy task. The work done has been necessary and greatly appreciated by the District Superintendent, and I am sure by the local congregations and local communities. Special mention is here made of the new church and facilities here at 1st church in Colorado Springs. Pastor Brown, his board and people have worked, prayed and built. The results of these efforts is the lovely and adequate building on the old location. On July 4 of this year General Superintendent P. W. Thomas was here for the dedication services. It was indeed a "high" and "rewarding" day for the members, friends, and neighbors of the church.

District Church Extension

The District Church extension obligations for the past year have been met. There have been times when it seemed we would run behind financially; how-ever, God and our good people have always come to the rescue.

This past year the District has supported work in Thornton, and West Pueblo. The Thornton work has suffered because of a shifting population. Some adjustments will he necessary in this area.

At West Park, our second church in Pueblo, we are happy to report splendid progress under the very able leadership of Bro. Lathrum. It was roy happy privilege to organize this group on March 7 with 9 members. This church with its pastor and delegate will be presented to this conference, to become an organ-ized part of the Rocky Mountain District.

Somewhere near the middle of this conference year Bro. Purcell and I made an investigation trip to Buena Vista, Colorado. There were folk there who were interested in our coming in for services. Bro. Purcell arranged for some services in a home for the first meetings. Out of his busy schedule as pastor of 1st church in Denver, he was able to drive over to this mountain town for services. The services of Bro. Smith and some of his people from Canon City were also enlisted. Between these two busy pastors and their people there has been a revival held here. God gave some definite results at the altar. Again it was my happy privilege on July 11, just past, to organize the church at Buena Vista, Colorado, with 9 members. This is a fine group of Pilgrims, and will be presented to this confer-ence with their delegate. We are in desperate need of somone to send to this new work as resident pastor. I feel that any words I say are inadequate to express my gratitude to Brothers Purcell and Smith and their people for their labors here. God bless them and the new Pilgrims at Buena Vista.

—18—

Page 20: MINUTES - cdn

Bible College

The work of the College, under the capable leadership of Bro. Bonner, is going forward. The expansion program is progressing, hut best of all God is smiling upon our school. Fifty percent of our pastors, this past year, are graduates of our College, and another 20 percent have taken some work there. It has been my pleasure to serve on the school board for 20 consecutive years.

Camp Ground

We thank God that the payments on our Camp Ground are coming nearer the end. If each church had been able to meet the entire quota each year we would pay out entirely with the August payment. As it is we will still be indebted $3500.00 plus interest on that part of the mortgage the school carried. The Lord helping this should be nearly wiped out this coming year.

Camp Meeting

God has again given us a good camp meeting. Brothers Philpot and Abbott have preached messages of divine truth that the Holy Spirit has used to bring conviction to the hearts of a number of youth and older folk.

My Personal Report

After much prayer and thought I feel that my name should not be voted on this year as District Superintendent. This, of course, is not news to most of you, but it does make it official, and with the firm conviction that I will not serve another year I have accepted a church on another district. I have chosen another district, not because I do not hold the Rocky Mountain District in high regard and love all of its people, but for reasons that are valid to me, even though some of my brethren do not agree with inc in those reasons. The past eleven years have been among the happiest of my life. To be in the homes of my pastors has been a real pleasure. Words are rather feeble vehicles to convey the gratitude of wife and me for the kindnesses of the pastors and their wives that have been extended to us. This wonderful fellowship will be greatly missed. We have considered it a privilege to minister to the people of the local churches and share with them in their problems and burdens, as well as in their joys and progress. Believe me, when I say that if there has been an ounce of pressure for me to step out of my office, I do not know of it. My decision comes from an inward persuasion that this is what God would have me do.

During the past year I have preached 76 times. I have held 21 local church meetings, 27 local church board meetings, and have personally conducted all of the annual meetings. I dedicated the church at Thornton, and assisted in the dedication of the new 1st Church in Colorado Springs. I have dedicated babies for both pastors and laymen. I have presided at all of the District Council meetings, and tried to faithfully carry out all of the duties of my office. It was my privilege to attend the church leaders meeting in Indianapolis in November.

As Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Central Pilgrim College I have been to all of the Executive Council meetings, as well as to the annual board meeting. In carrying out these duties I have traveled an additional 3,840 miles.

I would repeat that the travels and labors on the Rocky Mountain District for the past eleven years have been pleasant labors, as is all of the labor in the vineyard of the Lord.

Respectfully submitted

L. E. Schendel

ASSISTANT DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

MISSIONARY PRESIDENT'S REPORT

To our chairman, Rev. Wm. H. Neff, District Superintendent, and members of the Rocky Mountain Conference, we humbly submit the following report from the District Missionary Society.

We are glad to be "workers together with Him," and deeply appreciate all that has been accomplished by our faithful women and their leaders out over the district. Many hours have been spent making quilts, preparing clothing, making awards, etc., and getting boxes ready to send to the fields.

Our committee met after Conference last year and decided to take as a project the purchasing of a large mixer for the Camp kitchen. We were able to get a used one at a reasonable price, and I'm sure the cook has enjoyed using it this year.

We also asked that each society send in one hook of stamps, and with these we got Melmac dishes for the workers table, also a salad maker for the kitchen.

In March, at our Ministerial meeting, the societies bfought in a good supply of foodstuffs and supplies for the Mason twins. It was real thrilling to watch the box pile higher and higher, and the girls appreciated it so much.

Then we sent out a call at the end of the year for towel sets for our guest rooms. Our societies responded well, and we now have a nice supply on hand.

As we begin another year let us move forward with greater zeal and burden for the great work of Missions.

Respectfully submitted,

Mrs. L. E. Schendel

MEMOIRS

We, the committee on memoirs, present the following:

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing. II Tim. 4:7-8.

On Sept. 9, 1964, at the age of 68, Mrs. Elizabeth the Superior church departed this life. She was a faithful missed.

Mrs. Emma Isabelle Norwood, age 77, vent to her 1965. She was a charter member of the Superior church. her church.

On Christmas Eve, 1964 the Fort Collins church was saddened by the death of one of its beloved, faithful members, Mrs. Minnie Fritts. She was 73 years old and is missed by her many friends who nevertheless rejoice in her homegoing.

Albert Edward Southern, age 61, died of a heart attack Oct. 19, 1964. His pure life and inspiring talk and personal testimony given before the West Park Sunday School eight days before his death gives us the assurance that he now wears a crown of eternal life. When the basement remodeling is complete, one of the classrooms will be a memorial to him.

Thomas Dove passed away on Sept. 10, 1964, at the age of 71. He was a charter member of the Knob Hill church and was loved and respected by all who knew him. His broad smile was an inspiration as well as his hearty hand-clasp. He was a member of the church board and for many years was Sunday School superintendent. Always ready to help in a time of need and so faithfully discharging his church obligations, he has been greatly missed.

The Knob Hill church lost another faithful member when Mrs. Pansy Han-thorn slipped away on Jan. 6, 1965 at the age of 68. On days when her health permitted she prayed much and enjoyed visiting among the shut-ins. She carried a burden for the work of the Lord around the world. We can sincerely say, "She hath done what she could."

Mrs. Elsie Justice, a member of the First Pilgrim Holiness Church in Colo-rado Springs went to her eternal reward Dec. 14, 1964, at the age of 81 years. She served in the church as an ordained deaconess lor many years. Failing health kept her from the services in the last years of her life, but she never lost interest in the things of God and the activities of the church.

Ernest LeRoy Campbell, a member of the First Pilgrim Holiness Church in Colorado Springs since 1937, went to his eternal reward Oct. 25, 1964. Though failing health kept Brother Campbell from many of the services he kept in close contact with His Master and gave a testimony a few minutes before his home going.

Mrs. Carolyn Joy (Cheney) Wyatt, a member of the Lewellen church, went to her heavenly home on Feb. 21, 1965, at the age of 23. At the time of her passing she was Sunday School superintendent. She will be remembered for her cheerful disposition and fine Christian example. She kept a courageous smile to the end.

Death is but a stepping stone, to that eternal life In which there's no unhappiness, no suffering or strife, And so your loved one is at peace and lives on in a place Where there is light and gladness, and we see Cod face to face.
