• Theircarparkisbeingusedtoprocessfooddonations.Theywouldlikeideasandsupportforsomewhereelsetoputtheircars.

• Petermentionedthataparapetovertheemptybuildinglooksprecarious.MobilityParking-JanreportedthatmobilityparksinVictoriaStreet,SouthoftheOldFarmersbuilding,havebeenconedoffforsomereason.LauriewillfollowupwithCouncil.DraftParkingPolicy-submissionsdueonJune8th.

• Stevewantstoemphasizethatpolicymustbebasedonevidence• MartinissuggestingthatsomeMevochargingpointscouldbeallowedforonNewtownAvenue.
Discussionoftheprobableextrapressurescomingfromthesoon-to-openConstableSt/NewtownAveapartmentshavingnoonsiteparking-notevenforbikes.Havingsharedcarsnearbycouldreducethepressurefortheoccupantstohavecars.
ProposedBrooklynHillcyclelane
• JanisworriedaboutthelossofparkswiththeproposedBrooklynHillcyclelaneThistakesout139carparks,andcouldhaveabigeffectonsocialhousingtenantswhoworkunsocialhoursandneedtohavecarstogettowork.ThemeetingdiscussedthisandlookedatwherealternativeparkingisavailableinNairnStetc.ThisisaseparateConsultationandpeoplewereadvisedtomakesubmissionsexpressingtheirviewsbyMay28th.
DraftAnnualPlan
• Rates5.1%increaseisrecommendedbyWCC,anditlookslikenextyear’sincreasecouldbetwicethat.LauriewasaskedandreportedthatmostCouncillorsagreethattheproposedratesriseforthisyearisnecessary.RatepaymentscanbedeferredwithoutpenaltyforpeopleadverselyaffectedbyCovid-19.
• Wenotedthatthereisaratesrebateforpeopleonlowincomes,andsuggestedthatthiscouldbepublicisedmore.
• TherewereconcernsexpressedthattheDraftAnnualPlandoesn’tseemtohavealotofcontent.NotedthattheAnnualPlanisanadd-ontotheLongTermPlan,andthenextiterationoftheLTPisduein2021.
• Rhonasuggestedthatweshouldstartdiscussingnextyear’sLongTermPlanwithWCCnow,inthehopeofhavingmoreinfluenceonwhatisincludedandthefuturepriorities.
• SeveralpeopleatthemeetingattendedtheCouncilWebinarlastMonday.Wethoughttheformatworkedwell.

• NotedthattheCityLibraryreportsaysrepairswillbealotmoreexpensivethanfirstthought.LauriesaystheCouncillorsarekeentogetmoreinformationbehindtheissues,anditisgoingtobebroughtupataCouncilmeetingonWednesday26thMay.[Update-postponedtillJune3rd]
• LauriereportedthatanewlibrarywillbeopeninginBrandonStreetsoon,whichwillhavemorespaceandimprovethetemporaryservice.
• Notedthatnoprogresshasbeenmadeonputtingmoresensorsinbuildingsthatmeasurehowbuildingsareaffectedbyearthquakes.
• Dealingwiththewaterinfrastructureissuesisapriorityforus.Thisisaverybigdeferredexpense.Willthisbeaddressedfullyinthe2021-31LTP?
