MINUTES OF DRUGS PRICING COMMITTEE HELD ON 26-10-2011 18th meeting of the Drugs Pricing Committee (DPC) was held in the

Committee Room of Ministry of Health on 26-10-2011 under the chair of

Nargis Sethi, Cabinet Secretary, Cabinet Division, Islamabad.

3. Representatives of Pakistan Medical Association and Consumer Rights

Commission of Pakistan did not attend the meeting.

4. The meeting started with the recitation of the verses from The Holy

Quran. Cost Accountant, (Cabinet Division) explained that the working

paper had been prepared in line with the approved pricing parameters.

5. The committee examined the agenda, discussed each case in the light of

the pricing mechanism, availability of the medicine in the country, prices

of competitors in the market, C&F prices of imported medicines, prices

in the neighbouring countries, costing data, invoices of materials, etc

and made recommendations as given below, and detailed in the

appended minutes:

i. 235 cases of price fixation were approved for price

fixation.

ii. Deferred decisions on fixation /re-fixation of 116

drugs/formulations and directed pricing section to provide more details for consideration in the next meeting.

iii. 57 cases / formulations were approved for price re-

fixation.

iv. 7 cases/ formulations of M/S National Institute of

Health, Islamabad were approved for price re-fixation.

6. The committee also considered cost factors of other medicines such as

cough syrups and other cough & cold preparations and decided to re-fix

their prices soon after evaluating market situation.

7. The members of the committee agreed with the chairperson that

parameters to fix prices of drugs need to be revisited in line with the

new developments and hold a separate meeting in this regard.

8. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks to the chair.
