Mirka Mora

— Our Tribute To A Great Richmond Artist

Mirka Mora was an amazing, generous and talented member of our local community whose art inspired us all. Our school was keen to honour her memory and so it was decided to ask some of our own talented artists to create a tribute to this incredible Richmond identity. The presentation of this work was held during the last assembly in Term 1. The painting is an adaptation of her work, "Young Lovers in the Garden". The project was a collaboration between Mirka’s family, our Art teacher Chony and was painted by a talented team of students, including Mirka’s granddaughter, Carlotta (3/4E.) William Mora spoke at the presentation and the family has donated a plaque in honour of the occasion to be installed beside the work. The painting will be hung in the school's courtyard for all students and families to enjoy.

News From The Office

Walkathon May 16

This important fund raising event relies on family support for our

students, particularly in gaining sponsors. Booklets have been sent

home with each child to start finding these – they may be members of

your extended family or even your neighbours! We also need volunteers

on the day. Please check the Signmee sent out for more details.

Working Bee—This Sunday May 6 10am to 12 Noon

Apologies for the confusion over our date for this term’s Bee. We hope

families are still able to attend this Sunday when we will spreading soft

fall and topping up our sandpits.

Friday Afternoon Assemblies

The move of Friday Assemblies to 3.00pm will continue while we seek

feedback on if it should continue. It has proved a popular change for

teachers as it has provided the opportunity to plan for uninterrupted

learning during the Friday 9.00am session which has proved much more

effective in finishing off the week’s work. It has had a mixed response

from students, though our Year 6 Leaders have appreciated the extra

time to prepare for their Assembly Reports. We’d now like to hear from

parents. Please access the online form below where you may tell us

what you think. https://forms.gle/FgLifozb8eYmaLucA
