School Outreach Program
School Supply Distribution and Feeding
Last year, MOWD extended assistance to some 100 and 150 (male and female) identified “indigent” school children of GangoElementary School and Ozamiz City NationalHigh School, respectively who belong to unprivileged families by giving them various school supplies for school year, 2014.
This year, the WD reach out its assistance by giving the students various school supplies and feeding of nutritional snacks to some 200 male and female identified indigent students of Labo National High School. Prior to the distribution, a short program about water conservation to help address the El Niňo Phenomenon occurring this year and forecasted by PAGASA to intensify in the next three (3) quarters until June 2016 was made by the WD Employees with some of the Teachers of Labo National High School.

GAD Mandate: Senior Citizen
Cause of the Gender Issue: Welfare of elderly
Objective: It’s vital that we recognize the importance of supporting Senior
Citizens and to ensure that we’re doing our best to give something
back to our older people in consonance to Republic Act N0. 7876.
Recipient: All Senior Citizens within the MOWD area of coverage who applied
with one (1) Water Service Connection.
Activity: Continued availment of water bill discounts
Output: From 269 Senior Citizens last year to 321 this year (2015) or an

This Program is all year round.
Blood Letting Activity
Every time you donate blood, you are saving lives. Blood cannot be manufactured, and there is no
substitute for it. A voluntary blood donation is thus a gift which cannot be valued in monetary terms.
Every second of every day, people around the world – of all ages and from all walks of life – need
blood transfusions to survive. The reasons for transfusion vary but the demand for blood is ever-
present and growing: ● The number of accidents and injuries requiring blood transfusion is growing
worldwide ● Our Country face chronic shortages of blood which particularly affect children with
severe anemia due to malaria or malnutrition and women with complications of pregnancy or
childbirth and many more henceforth, this annual activity of the Water District which aims of reducing
maternal mortality through timely availability of quality and safe blood supply.
This program of the WD is in coordination with the PhilippineRed Cross, Ozamiz City Chapter.

Continuation Blood Letting…
GAD Mandate: Reducing Maternal Mortality Cause of the Gender Issue: For timely availability of quality and safe blood supply for pregnant
and post-partum mothers and for other patients who will need blood for survival.
Objective: Build wider public awareness of the need for regular blood donation throughout the year in order to maintain adequate supply of blood for all patients requiring transfusion.
Activity: Blood Letting once or twice a year Output: Full implementation of the Program
Status of Activity: Completed May 15, 2015 Cost: Php 2,080.00 (snacks) A total of fourteen (14) bags of blood were extracted and donated to Red Cross, Ozamiz City.
BARANGAY PROGRAMS –CLEAN AND GREEN ENVIRONMENT
Thru “bakhaw/mangrove planting” in coordination with the Barangay Officials of Polot and Calabayan,
Ozamiz City
Status of Implementation: Completed September 5 and October 17, 2015, respectively.
This program of MOWD is to support the efforts of each Barangay/Purok in Ozamiz City to the
attainment of a Clean and Green Environment.
MOWD recognizes that effective stewardship of the Earth requires both changes in behavior and new
ways of thinking. It requires that environmental considerations be factored into personal and
institutional decision making. It also requires a willingness on the part of people with diverse interests
to try to understand one another’s perspectives and seek common ground.
This year MOWD conducted a clean-up drive and mangrove planting at the Coastal Area of Barangay Polot, and Tree (Banyan) Planting at Barangay Calabayan, both in Ozamiz City. The objective of the said activities is to help the Barangay constituents to involve themselves in maintaining the clean and green environment and to promote cleanliness especially along the coastal areas.

GAD Mandate: Administrative Support Services Human Resource Development Program Gender Issue: Gender insensitive bureaucracy due to lack of training on GAD Objective: Enhance awareness and sensitivity of WD employees on Gender and
Development. To equip water supply and sanitation utility employees and officials
with the knowledge, attitudes and skills to accelerate gender mainstreaming and promote gender equality.
Activity: Continued attendance to GAD Training/Seminars conducted by Government agencies

GAD Mandate: Team Building/Cross-Learning - Career and Staff Development Gender Issue: Lack of knowledge & training on Gender AndDevelopment (GAD)
issue; and need to know better one self and our colleagues. Objective: To equip employees with the proper attitude, knowledge and skills to
respond to personal gender issues and to recognize women’s different perceptions and interests arising from their different social positions and gender roles, mainstream gender and development in one’s workplace.
Participation of the personnel both men and women is essential to
make them aware on the issues and concerns of GAD. Activity/ies: Continued orientation on Gender And Development; Team Building
activities; workshops and health lectures. Target Participants: All Water District Officers and Employees (130 participants) Budget: @ Php7,500.00 per pax or Php975,000.00 Output: After the Team Building, employees are expected to: Benchmark good practices from other Water Districts; Become gender sensitive and committed to gender equality; and Identifies water and sanitation gender issues both in the organization

WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION – March 18, 2015
National Women's Month Celebration (Whole month of March)
This year, all female employees once again were out of the office on official time. The activity was dubbed “Women’s Day Celebration”. The ladies celebrate the Women’s Day at Lala’s Eco Park, Barangay Stimson Abordo (Montol), Ozamiz City to experience new things, relax and unwind themselves from their day to day activities. At this time, the activities are exclusive for women only and their entire task in the office were taken cared of by the understanding men employees.
This year’s celebration, the women employees were abreast about their rights under Republic Act N0. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women.
R.A. N0. 9710 seeks to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino women. These rights include all rights in the Philippine Constitution and those rights recognized under the international instruments signed and ratified by the Philippine Government.
Among these RIGHTS are:
Protection from all forms of violence, including those committed by the State Protection and Security in times of disaster, calamities and other crisis situations
Participations and representation Equal treatment before the law Equal access and elimination of discrimination against women in education, scholarships and training Equal participation in sports Non-discrimination in employment in the field of military, police, and other mimilar services Non-discriminatory and non-derogatory portrayal of women in media and film Comprehensive health services and health information and education Leave Benefits Equal rights in all matters related to marriage and family relations

MOWD believes that it is equally important for people to support environmental endeavours and share in the effort to protect and preserve nature. We are in dire need of trees because of global warming. If we notice, we are now experiencing the effects of global warming not only in the city but the entire country, thus, it is but proper that people from all walks of life should understand the importance of planting trees.
In preservation of the watershed areas, this year, the Managementplantedbanyan trees in Barangays Laboand Guimad, SitioPolikin Watershed Rehabilitation Project.
Continue activities on Gardening within the office premises that can as well give health benefits considering that organic planting is encouraged.

Recognition of special gender needs through the granting of additional leave benefits aside from the Vacation & Sick Leave earned on a regular basis.
