Awareness campaign, knowledge and appreciation dissemination towards the Old Town through income-generating tourism activities like “Phuket in the Past” trips, vocational training on indigenous arts and customs - e.g. traditional clothing, recipes

Public relations through local media activities in TV programs, leaflets, and physical renovations, like conversion of an old school into a museum;

Improvement of the urban environment, such as solid waste management, green energy, underground power lines, and clean water;

Investment in communication technology and public relations;

Long-term investments in a tourist information center and museums for education and tourism.

ISSUES AND CONCERNS

CLUSTER TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT AND MARKETING PLANS need to be integrated/mainstreamed in the municipal, provincial and regional tourism plans

Limited LGU capacity (resources and personnel) in project implementation

Inadequate LGU annual allocation for tourism and cultural promotion activities and interlocal cooperation

Need to formulate cluster policies

(Formulation of objectives, results and indicators, timetable, budget, strategy, monitoring system and communication plan)

ISSUES AND CONCERNS

The need for the two (2) clusters to undertake joint capacity development trainings on results-based monitoring and evaluation (RBME), marketing and promotion, installation of feedback mechanisms and resource mobilization

Need to strengthen the roles of respective Municipal Tourism Councils in tourism development and for the cluster to establish an Office

Community Mobilization–e.g. health and sanitation concerns, observance of standards, marketing and promotion strategies

The need for the cluster to formulate a COMMUNICATIONS AND FEEDBACK MECHANISM PLAN

( Formulation of objectives, results and indicators, timetable, budget, strategy, monitoring system and communication plan)

At the end of the project, the Pilot Clustered municipalities of Misamis Oriental shall have attained the following :1. Established functional cluster- and municipal–

based tourism structures2. Formulated Tourism Development Plans, including

funding commitment from respective LGUs, approved, prioritized, and integrated in the Annual Investment Program and development plans

3. Integrated the Cluster Tourism Plans in the respective Provincial Tourism Office and Department of Tourism Regional Office Plans

4. Developed marketing and promotion materials as brochures, video, and website materials uploaded in the website (LOGODEF Portal)
