MISHAAL ALANZI Gas Engineer, KOC
In 2007, Mishaal Alanzi graduated from the University of Nottingham, UK, and was awarded a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours. Before joining KOC in 2009, Mishaal was working in Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) as a Mechanical Engineer for Water Projects Department for almost two years. Ever since, he’s been working as a Gas Engineer in Gas Operations Group.

Orifice Plate and Turbine Meters were traditionally used in Kuwait Oil Company for both Gas and Liquid Metering Systems.
For example, Orifice Plate has higher pressure drop which may imply pumping or
compression costs. Turbine Meters require periodic maintenance which may result in additional cost.

1 Improvement & Expansion of KOC’s Infrastructure
Variations in Gas Accounting between Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and various consumers: Power Stations of Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) and Small Private Users.
The Old Consumer Network required periodic High Maintenance Cost.
The obligation to meet (MEW) Power Stations Fuel Gas requirements. The ability to use Mixed Liquid Service (Crude Oil & Heavy Fuel Oil) without affecting the
Metering Accuracy. The new ongoing agreements between Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and the various Gas
Consumers in Kuwait is of high significance in terms of reliable fiscal measurement and higher accuracy.

Various redundant configurations are being used (2 x 100% – 4 x 33% – 5 x 25%). Ultrasonic Metering Skids have different flow switching controls. Coriolis Metering Skids consist of only one flow switching philosophy. For example, LSFO and HFO have a redundant configuration of 2 x 100%.
Gas Oil pipelines are designed in two redundant configurations of 2 x 100% & 4 x 33%.
Fuel Gas Metering Skids utilize all of the 3 redundant configurations.
