Modifier: “After turning on the radio” What does is modify? Did the baby turn

on the radio? No!!! To correct it, give the modifier something

to modify! The baby woke up after her brother

turned on the radio.

Carlos found another fuse in the drawer that was no good.

Was the fuse no good? Or the drawer? How to fix it – place the modifier – “that

was no good” – closer to the word it modifies:

Carlos found another fuse that was not good in the drawer.

While sweeping the floor, the stew boiled over on the stove.

Modifier – “while sweeping the floor” Who swept the floor? Insert the word it

modifies. While ____ was sweeping the floor, the
