The World Cup Course is also the winner of multiple international awards and is heralded by the authoritative US golf publication, Links, as

Majestic vistas of untouched jungle and flowing streams create outstanding backdrops throughout the golf course. In November 2012, the World Golf Championship–HSBC Champions was also hosted here. It was the first time that the WGC set foot in southern China and presented the region’s golf fans with the opportunity to witness one of the world’s top golf tournaments. Signature golf courses include:

BLACKSTONE – Asia’s premier tournament venueRanked Asia’s Best New Course by America’s Golf Magazine and having quickly earned the reputation of Asia Pacific Best Championship Course from the Asian Golf Monthly magazine, the Blackstone course weaves through a striking landscape of mature trees, thick jungle and expansive wetlands. Lava rock walls and village ruins created centuries ago remain as a testament to the site’s past.

As a premier tournament venue, the Blackstone course provides extensive spectator spaces for fans and a thrilling world-class course capable of challenging the world’s greatest players. Competing on the Blackstone course at Mission Hills Hainan during the 2011 World Cup of Golf, Rory McIlroy described the resort as “spectacular”. LAVA FIELD – Big, bold and surrounded by black rockWhile similar in many respects to the Blackstone Course, with its irregular lines of turf and wild bunkering, Lava Fields presents an expansive and open look, featuring rolling waves of tall grasses in place of dense trees. Black rock and wild bunkering dominate the landscape like no other course in the world. The Lava Fields course was ranked among the world’s Top 100 Courses by the UK’s Golf World magazine.

THE VINTAGE – Traditional “lie-of-the-land” Golden Age golf coursePatterned after courses built at the turn of the 20th century, this 7,363-yard course features a lie-of-the-land routing with tree-lined fairways. The distinctive, natural terrain is mixed with quirky features that utilise odd, sometimes geometric shapes, abrupt mounds, deep pot bunkers, square edges and the occasional blind shot. Wicker basket pins and man-made features resemble the handiwork of the past, evoking a classic charm.

Other signature courses include Sandbelt Trails, inspired by the iconic Australian Sandbelt courses and distinguished by large, high-flashed bunkers with crisp, thick lips; and Shadow Dunes, which incorporates the towering dunes and native vegetation found along the vast, unspoiled beaches of Hainan Island. Family-friendly par-3 tracks such as Double Pin and Stepping Stone are perfect for guests new to the game or simply seeking to sharpen their iron and short games. As part of the Mission Hills Group’s initiative to foster junior golf development in China, juniors under the age of 16 enjoy free access to these two courses while vacationing at Mission Hills Hainan.
