Dear Friends of our Veterans,2020 has been a fiercely challenging year. Our lives were disrupted and our freedoms

limited by the novel coronavirus. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, NRFV continued to provide much-needed home

improvement and modification to Veterans in financial need. The Construction and Veterans Committees completed nearly two dozen projects with another dozen ongoing.

When the shutdown first hit in March, Naperville Responds immediately put in cost- control measures to maximize resources. We prioritized projects based on life-safety issues versus quality-of-life issues. These projects include ramps, handicap accessibility bathrooms, grab bars and much more.

While our ability to fundraise was impacted, we were once again able to rely on the generosity of members at White Eagle Golf Club, Cress Creek Country Club and Naperville Country Club during our 2020 Tournament for Champions golf event.

Our events team was able to adapt to a virtual reverse raffle in place of our traditional Cheers for Veterans gala to bring much needed funding to our mission. We live-streamed the raffle from the Naperville VFW and gave thanks to our Veterans in mid-November.

About 90 percent of all funds raised continue to directly benefit Veterans in need. And to take it one step further, most work completed by professional contractors is steeply discounted or done at cost.

We are already planning and look forward to bringing The Naperville Salute to our community over Independence Day Weekend in 2021. This will be a hometown celebration of America’s Independence Day with the focus of honoring Veterans, First Responders, and our Hometown Heroes.

Let me emphasize that if you know a Veteran in need, please have them or help them apply for assistance through our website at www.napervilleresponds.org. Applying through our website helps to expedite the application process so NRFV volunteers can execute a project quickly and efficiently. All applications for assistance are vetted by the NRFV Veterans Committee on an “income” and “needs” basis.

We realize under the current business climate, it’s increasingly difficult to be charitable. It is hard to be generous when you are not profitable. Naperville Responds encourages everyone to shop, donate and support local commerce.

Naperville Responds would like to thank our generous supporters, all individuals who volunteer their talents and resources, and everyone who spreads the word about our mission to assist Veterans in need with home repairs and renovations.

THANK YOU, GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL THROUGHOUT THE WORLD,

Naperville Responds Board Members MATT ISHIKAWA and KEVIN KEARNS prepare for the Cheers for Veterans Reverse Raffle last November that was live streamed from the Naperville VFW. The virtual raffle raised $55,000 to support the mission of NRFV to assist area Veterans with home repairs and renovations. Thanks to all raffle participants, sponsors and volunteers. Your generosity equals our success.
