CLUB PRESIDENT

MTM Members,

Our next general meeting will be Friday, December 2nd at Jack's in Fremont. We will be voting for our club officers and wrap up any other club business to close out the year. If you have any agenda items, let me know.

The last car related event of the year will be the Festival of Lights Parade in Niles on Friday, November 25th. In years past we have met and decorated the cars in the school parking lot then drive to the staging area. The issue we have is it's dark by the time we get there, which make it hard to locate our area. So this year we are going to try something different. We will still meet at the school, but once everyone is there, we will drive to the staging area to decorate the cars. The plan is to find our staging area before dark.

At our last meeting the club voted to "Adopt a Family" in need through the city of Fremont for the holidays. The Family Resource Center identifies families in need and has them submit a "wish list" for Christmas. The coordinator asked, since we are a large group, if we would accept a family of nine. We did. Members have been very responsive in selecting a family member to shop for. We still have a few family members to go, if you are interested in participating... let me know. I will find out this week when the items need to be turned into the Family Resource Center. Items can be wrapped or unwrapped... up to you.

The MTM holiday party will be on December 17th at our house in Livermore. Everyone is welcome. As usual, the club will purchase the ham and club members are asked to bring an item to share. Cathy will coordinate the appetizers etc... so we do not end up with everyone bringing the same item.

Also, when coming back from the Hollister Car Show a truck in front of us kicked up a rock and cracked the windshield.   I called Hagerty and they covered the windshield 100%, no deductible.   Sweet.

Anyway, we made several calls and found a guy who replaces classic car windshields on the side after he gets off work from his regular job as a glass installer for over 30 years.  He came to my house and did a great job.

If anyone is ever in need of window glass for their vehicle I have his name and number.Lastly, it's not too soon to start thinking about club events for 2017... it will be here before you know it. The Spring Fever Niles Car Show is always a club favorite and is already on the calendar for May 17th.

CLUB EVENTS COORDINATOR

I can’t believe this year is coming to an end and we will soon be welcoming in 2017.

I said earlier this year, we are going to blink our eyes and the year will be over. Well, here we are in December and what a year we have had. So many activities and just all around fun we have all enjoyed.

As of the writing of this newsletter article, our Club just participated in the Niles Festival of Lights Parade, which took place the day after Thanksgiving. This is a Club favorite. Every year this parade grows and grows, I am always astounded as to how many people line the streets of Niles to view the bands, floats, dancers and cars, yelling “Merry Christmas, and love your car”. This year was no exception. The biggest yet, the parade was extended another block and around the corner from Niles Blvd up to Second Street. It was a mild evening, which is why I am sure so many people turned out to watch the parade. Of course our cars were all decked out with lights, wreaths, bells and Merry Christmas signs. The only challenge this year was decorating the cars in the dark, and the traffic after we left the parade. All in all, I would say we had a wonderful time. Thanks Jim Johnson for your participation, this was his first year and his new Mustang looked outstanding.

As we are hustling and bustling through this next month, we still have activities going on.

Club Events Continued:

December 2nd: Our Club meeting and voting for our Club officers. Our Meeting is at Jacks Brewery at the Hub shopping center in Fremont. Those wishing to have dinner gather about 5:45 ish we have dinner and our meeting starts at 7:00PM. This months meeting we will be electing our new Club officers and Board. All the nominations are in and we will be casting our votes.

December 17th: Our annual Holiday Party. It will be at our house, in Livermore. The Club provides the Honey Baked Ham, and Club members bring all the other fixings. We do a gift exchange, which consist on stealing, so don’t get too attached to the gift you open.

This year our Club decided we would adopt a family in need. We worked with the City of\Fremont, and they had a family of 9 that they felt would be ideal for our Club to adopt. I wasso touch by the generosity of our Club members to step up and I am happy to tell you all, that every single family member in our adoptive family will be getting items on their wish list.I was so moved as I read the family’s request, nothing extravagant, very basic; socks, underwear, hats, scarfs, and gloves. I think sometimes we forget how fortunate we all are, even in our hardest times, it is nothing like what our adoptive family members areexperiencing. I personally want to thank every Club member who selected one of ouradoptive family members to buy for this year. And a huge thank you to those MTM membersthat selected 2 family members to buy for. Thank You.
