“Prathiphalana”. I wish the entire team a good success who has contributed in
bringing a shape for our dreams through this newsletter.

We are extremely happy to present the Vol 2 Issue 2 of Newsletter which
indicates the next level of the successful journey of BIMS in the attainment of
our goal. The doors of our faculty members are always open for any student
who seeks help. We look for, and develop creative problem solving strengths
in our students and we encourage our students to grow as effective team

It’s an immense pleasure to introduce the next issue of newsletter to the
readers. BIMS is an institution with a marked difference in quality to serve the

Message from Principal

BIMS newsletter “Prathiphalana”. This provides the information about the
happenings of various events and activities of BIMS. I wish a wonderful

Message from Editor’s Desk
“Prathiphalana”, Vol 2 Issue 2 would be a snapshot of the various activities
and advancements associated with BIMS. To mention the key points of this
issue, we organized some of the major events like FDP, Job Mela and
Rajyotsava which have promised bright endeavors of future. Thank you

KANNADA RAJYOTSAVA CELEBRATION
The epic event of Karnataka, celebration of “Kannada Rajyotsava” was held on 7th
of November. The event
was organized by BIMS and was initiated by Prof. Mahadev Prakash with the support of students, teaching
and non-teaching staff.
It was great moment to remember the poets, noble laureates, and soldiers etc. who have made our state
proud. It is also called as Karnataka Formation Day; literally "Birth of the Karnataka state" is celebrated by
Kannadigas all over the world on 1st November of every year. This was the day in 1956 when all the
Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to form the state of Karnataka.
Hoisting the Karnataka flag was the beginning of the event. It was performed by honorable Chairman Sri
Suresh, Director Smt. Geetha Suresh, Actress Kusuma and Retired Principal of Kanakapura Rural College
Dr. Bhuvaneshwar. The event then continued with speeches of honorable guests and tremendous
performances of students. Bharatanatyam, Classical music, Yakshagana and many other performances by the
students stole hearts of the audience.
SEMINAR ON PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
A Seminar for the UG/PG students was given by
International Trainer Sri Chethan Ram RA.
Different dimensions of personality, inputs to
develop personality, motivation, self-esteem etc.
areas were covered in the session.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
BIMS had organized a faculty development programme on “Data analysis through SPSS” on 8th
December
2016, under initiative of Prof. Nandini, Prof. Sudha and Prof. Santhosh and the guidance of Management.
SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) is a software package used for logical batched and non-
batched statistical analysis. Long produced by SPSS Inc., it was acquired by IBM in 2009. The current
versions (2015) are officially named IBM SPSS Statistics. Companion products in the same family are used
for survey authoring and deployment (IBM SPSS Data Collection), data mining (IBM SPSS Modeler), text
analytics, and collaboration and deployment (batch and automated scoring services).
The programme started early in the morning with the installation of SPSS software in the laptops of all
faculty participants. The session consisted of theory which also included a case study analysis and practical
exercises. About 125 participants from various colleges across Bangalore participated in this glorious
learning event. Everyone appreciated the hospitality of BIMS, potential of MBA students who also took a lot
of effort in organizing the event and information given by resource person Mr. Shankar M Mepparambath,
who is a well-known statistician.
“JOB MELA” – THE PLACEMENT DRIVE
BIMS had organized a “Job Mela”, a pool campus placement drive for job aspirants. More than 40
companies represented on behalf of their companies and more than 1000 candidates from different colleges
had participated in the placement drive.
The Job Mela started with the registration which was followed by resume shortlisting, group discussions and
interviews by the companies. The approximate number of candidates who got placed in the placement drive
was around 200. Besides, more than 300 were asked to attend next rounds of interviews in the companies.
Some of the companies that visited the campus are as listed below:
1. Infosys
2. CMS IT services
3. Hinduja Global Solutions
4. HDFC
5. Reliance India Ltd.
6. Canara Bank Ltd.
And many more.
TRAINING FOR THIRD SEM MBA STUDENTS
The MBA Final year students were given with training
related to Placement Skills by Bangalore’s reputed
training and development firm “Seventh Sense”.
This training started in the month of October and
winded up in the month of November 2016. Various
topics related to recruitments such Aptitude
(consisting of numerical, logical reasoning and English),
Group Discussion, Interview Skills etc., were taught
to the students. At the end, assessments were done
to understand the effectiveness of training and best scorers
were given with prizes.
DISTRIBUTION OF LAPTOPS
Every year the Management of BIMS provides the
laptops for first year MBA students. This year too,
on behalf of Management, Honorable CEO
Prof. Basavegowda distributed the laptops in the
presence of Respected Principal, Dr. Nijaguna G.
SIX SIGMA TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION
Six Sigma training and certification for Final Year MBA students took place at BIMS between November
till January 2017. A reputed training company “SAP MINDS”, who are specialized in training the students
on SAP and Six Sigma was hired to train the students on Six Sigma
Six Sigma is a set of techniques and tools for process improvement. It was introduced by engineer Bill Smith
while working at Motorola in 1986. Jack Welch made it central to his business strategy at General Electric in
1995. Today, it is used in many industrial sectors.
It seeks to improve the quality of the output of a process by identifying and removing the causes of defects
and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management
methods, mainly empirical, statistical methods, and creates a special infrastructure of people within the
organization who are experts in these methods. Each Six Sigma project carried out within an organization
follows a defined sequence of steps and has specific value targets, for example: reduce process cycle time,
reduce pollution, reduce costs, increase customer satisfaction, and increase profits.

The most awaited college fest “INTOGLIO – 2K17” will be held on March 3rd
2017.
BIMS is planning to conduct two days International Hindi Conference in the month of March 2017. The
theme and brochure design is scheduled in the month of January/February 2017
Cost and Management Accounting (CMA) classes are scheduled in the month of February 2017.
Release of International College Journal is scheduled on 26th
January 2017.
Planning to conduct an intra-college Drama competition event in the month of January 2017.
NSS Camp is scheduled in the month of January 2017.
