Mitosis Notebook Activity 1.Draw Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase in an Animal Cell. On unlined paper and cut it out and glue it in your notebook on the right hand side. 2.Title each drawing. 3.Label correctly according to Coach Furin’s Rules for Biology Drawings (Pencil, Straight Lines, no crossing, 1 bend per line, label to the right in a straight column & Color). You may want to label first before cutting the drawing out. All pics must have a minimum of 4 structures labeled. 4.Describe the important events that are going on in each of the phases in bullet format below your drawing. 5.The 6 th drawing will of the Eukaryotic Cell Cycle, Figure 6 page 125 in your book. 6.Make all this neat and easy to read.

Mitosis Notebook Activity1. Draw Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and

Telophase in an Animal Cell. On unlined paper and cut it out and glue it in your notebook on the right hand side.

2. Title each drawing. 3. Label correctly according to Coach Furin’s Rules for Biology

Drawings (Pencil, Straight Lines, no crossing, 1 bend per line, label to the right in a straight column & Color). You may want to label first before cutting the drawing out. All pics must have a minimum of 4 structures labeled.

4. Describe the important events that are going on in each of the phases in bullet format below your drawing.

5. The 6th drawing will of the Eukaryotic Cell Cycle, Figure 6 page 125 in your book.

6. Make all this neat and easy to read.

• Pages 130 & 131 in your book.• May use an open computer for this.

Interphase:

*Period of normal growth and cell activity. Three stages: G1(growth 1)-Before mitosis can take place, the cell need to store enough energy to drive the chemical processes during the cell division. During this period of time, there is intense cellular activity. The cell grows in size. The length of the grow phase varies between a few hours to a few months, S(synthesis) DNA has replicated, but has not formed the condensed structure of chromosome. They remain as loosely coiled chromatin and G2(growth 2)-growth phase when the cell’s organelles are duplicated. *The nuclear membrane is still intact to protect the DNA molecules from undergoing mutation
