Starting the BoatThe only calls we’ve gotten this season (we’ve had 2) were on how to re-start the boat. Here area few tips. 1. From the Neutral Position, pull the throttle base to the left, this allows you to give gas tothe engine while in Neutral. 2. Push the Throttle forward, past the point you feel resistance. 3. Push in the ignition key to the ‘choke’ position and turn key to right to start.

- The engine should start within 1-3 attemps. On starting you may need to back down onthe throttle depending on how far you pushed it forward. 4. Once the engine is started, slowly pull back the throttle back to the Neutral & In-Gearposition. The Throttle base will pop to the right, back into running position. 5. You may now forward/reverse as needed.

Rough Water Conditions

In the event of rough water, it is possible that you may take water on over the front of the boat. This will not hurt the boat. However, it can be very surprising if unexpected. Should this occur, shift the throttle into Neutral. Allow the water to escape over the edges of the boat. Enjoy therest of your outing.

To lessen the likelihood of taking on water, position the majority of the people / weight to therear seats of the boat. Also, take note of what you place on the deck of the boat that you may notwant to get wet.

Things You May Need To Do

Boat Operation - pontoon is equipped with a 25hp Evinrude engine. Drive safely; max speed isabout 8mph. Do not run reverse at full throttle!

Swim Ladder - the swim ladder is stored to the right of the captain’s seat. The swim ladderinstalls and is removed very easily. The braces for the swim ladder are located on the floor onthe side entry opposite the captain’s chair. The hooked ends of the swim ladder have a screwhead that slides in the braces the slide into locking position. Make sure to extend the laddersupport braces that rest against the pontoons. REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE SWIMLADDER BEFORE STARTING THE BOAT AND RETURN TO STORAGE AREA.

Docking / Undocking - you will need to leave the dock and come back . There are dockinglines on each of the four corners of the pontoon and there are multiple buoys on each side of theboat allowing for docking to either side of the boat. Better to come in slow and steady in anydocking situation. Carefully enter the docking area and have a couple of your passengers readyto step onto the dock and tie the lines to the docking cleats.

Raise / Lower the Bimini Top - the Bimini is connected at three points on each rail with a strainconnecting pin. To lower pull the rear pins on each side. Then pull the front pins on each side, connect the front rails to the connection point on the adjoining rail. Carefully push the biminitop and lower onto the rear platform. TOP MUST BE LOWERED TO GO UNDER BRIDGE!

Using the Anchor - located under the front left seat. Carefully remove the anchor from it’sstorage compartment. Prior to tossing anchor into water, make sure you allow for enough slackin the line so the line doesn’t get pulled out of your hands. After the anchor hits bottom attachthe anchor line to one of the FRONT docking eyelets.

Changing the fuel - if you should run out of fuel in your first tank, changing the fuel line is easy.Raise the rear platform to access the fuel compartment on the passenger side, have a passengerhold up the rear platform. Follow the fuel line to the connected tank. There is a quick releaseclip to the fuel tank. Release the fuel line and connect to the 2nd tank. There is a primer bulb onthe fuel line, after connecting the line to the full tank, squeeze the primer bulb until the line if fullof fuel. Should you need to re-fuel during your rental period, YOU MUST ADD OIL! Followinstructions on Oil Bottle, located in storage compartment with fuel tanks. Failure to add oilWILL CAUSE engine to overheat!

Registration - let’s hope you don’t need this! But if you do, it is located under the life jackets inthe from driver side seat.

History of Morse Lake

Indianapolis is the largest city in America not located on a large river, lake or nearmountain streams. That’s why the history of Geist and Morse reservoirs is important for itsproactive growth planning for the Indianapolis metro area.

The Indianapolis Water Company (IWC) designed and built Geist and Morse Reservoirsafter a mid-twentieth century study indicated that the future growth of the city was dependent onthe stored water capabilities in the area. Construction of Geist Reservoir began in 1941, withMorse following shortly after in 1956. Both were created in an ecologically sound method byusing several small creeks as water sources.

The reservoirs were largely isolated bodies of water for more than three decades until theIWC started a program of real estate development in the early 1980s. Today, upscale homedevelopments encircle both lakes, providing lakefront living and waterfront access. In addition, both lakes offer beautiful recreational resources to the community for swimming, boating andfishing.*Information courtesy of the Indianapolis Water Company
