IMPORTANT MMHS EVENTS & INFORMATION:
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION Parents and students -- We encourage parents and students to weekly check student grades and attendance on SIS. Also, in that same area, student’s citizenship grades may be viewed. If an NC is listed, that indicates an attendance problem and you will need to contact Mrs. Davis (Attendance Secretary) to find out more information on how to get the NC’s cleared. Thank you!
Driver Education Information The March Driver Education class will start on Thursday, March 14th at 7:00 PM in the MMHS auditorium. Students are required to attend the parent meeting as it is their first class and are encouraged to bring at least one parent. The meeting will last until about 8:00 PM. Class will then be held every school day from Monday, March 18th until Tuesday, April 16th from 6:00 – 7:30 AM in room E-202. Class will not be held on April 1-5 (Spring Break). For those enrolled in the class, we will start each morning at 6:00 AM. Don’t be late. Bring your permit and something to write with on Monday, the 18th. Enter through the doors to the right of the flag pole, (by the cafeteria), go down the “E” hallway, and up the stairs to room E-202. Zero Fatalities The Zero Fatalities group from Salt Lake City will be here for their monthly presentation to the driver education
students. This presentation is required for students, but is open to the general public. Anyone is welcome to attend. It is a great presentation that adults and teens can benefit from. It will be held on Thursday, March 14th in the MMHS Auditorium. It begins at 7:00 PM and will end about 8:00 PM.
NHS Applications for the 2019-2020 School Year National Honor Society applications for the 2019-2020 school year are available in the Library for all current sophomore and junior students interested in becoming members. Minimum requirements for membership are a 3.75 cumulative GPA, and no NCs. Applications are due Friday, March 22nd at 3:00 pm. SheTech Explorer Day SheTech Explorer Day is a FREE hands-on tech conference for girls 9th through 12th grade. This day-long event will include hands-on workshops in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Girls who attend will have access to internships, receive a SheTech certificate, receive pathway information and become part of a community to help girls have opportunities in STEM. The day is tech interactive and enables girls to experience, innovate and create. Girl’s will explore robotics, computer programming, digital media, health and microbiology. The girls will also get to experience the TechChallenge where they work with industry mentors to ideate, solve and pitch their solutions. MMHS will be providing a bus and lunch is included. Go to www.shetechexplorer.com to register. April 9th seems like a long way off but spots are already filling up!
ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Maple Mountain High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition. For the 2019 AP exams, students at Maple Mountain High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.
Online Exam registration will begin on Wed, Jan 2, 2019 at 12:00 AM and end on Wed, Mar 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM. In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/450423 to register .To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.
Maple Mountain High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment. This year each AP exam costs $99.00.
Here are the important dates for the registration process:
Wed, Jan 2, 2019 at 12:00 AM - Registration Begins Wed, Mar 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registration Ends Mon, Mar 11, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registrations that have not been paid for will be cancelled and exams
will not be ordered.
Please contact Casey Mattinson, [email protected] , if you would like to register for an exam not listed or have any questions.
CODE TO SUCCESS SUMMER PROGRAM June 10 - July 19, 2019 Nebo Advanced Learning Center www.ctsutah.com Six week summer programming class FREE for Nebo students. Classes will be held at the ALC Monday-Friday from 8am - 12pm. Registration opens in January. In collaboration with tech leaders, we provide students with the opportunity to access coding training modules, obtain one-on-one mentoring from experts, and take advantage of networking opportunities to pursue internships. Our goal is to bridge the gap between education and industry by getting students interested in programming and setting them up on a successful education pathway in computer science. Interested students can talk to Mrs. Dunn or Mr. Eastmond or call the ALC and speak with Mrs. Hair.

Senior Class of 2019 Raising Money for Eagle Statue
In honor of the ten-year opening of Maple Mountain High School, the Senior Class of 2019 is trying to raise funds to purchase a Golden Eagle Statue, which will be created by internationally renowned artist, Gary Lee Price. We invite our students and their families, MMHS Alumni, and other members of our school community, to contribute to this great cause. We will be dedicating the Eagle in honor of those who “LIFT,” to all MMHS students (past, present, and future), and to those who participate in building our MMHS legacy of excellence. For those who wish to contribute, please make donations payable to the Nebo Foundation. If you have further questions, please contact our student body president, Dawson Ball (801-618-6107). Thank you for your support!
Hello Parents, Many of you have a child who does coursework on Canvas. Some of you may not be aware that you can be a parent observer in Canvas. Once you are enrolled as an observer to your child’s Canvas account, you will be able to view assignments, course events, and grades.
