• The research issue :• mobile interfaces can be tricky and cumbersome to use for those with‘fat’

fingers• Key concern is designing for small screen real estate and limited control space

• e.g. mobile browsers allow users to view and navigate the internet, magazines etc., in a more streamlined way compared with PC web browsers

WHAT IS HAPTIC?

HAPTICS IS QUITE LITERALLY THE SCIENCE OF TOUCH.

Haptic technology or haptic is a tactile feedback technology which takes advantage of the sense of touch by applying forces, vibrations or motions to the user.

Haptic technology has made it possible to investigate how the human sense of touch works by allowing the creation of carefully controlled haptic virtual objects.

MAIN DESIGN

Haptics are enabled by actuators that apply forces to the skin for touch feedback and controllers.

The actuator provides mechanical motion in response to an electrical stimulus.

• Tactile feedback• applying vibration and forces to a person’s body, using actuators that are

embedded in their clothing or a device they are carrying, such as a cell phone

• Can enrich user experience or nudge them to correct error• Can also be used to simulate the sense of touch between remote

people who want to communicate
