ACPA Affiliation Status

Editors note:

As many of you may remember we recently sent

out a ballot to members of the MoCPA communi-

ty in regards to our affiliation status with ACPA.

This vote was prompted by changes in tax laws

in an effort to hold non-profit organizations more

accountable. During this vote members were giv-

en the option to retain ACPA member status as an

Internal or an External Chapter or to completely

un- affiliate with ACPA and become a separate

entity entirely.

As a result of this vote the members of MoCPA

have decided to have MoCPA be an External

Chapter of ACPA moving forward. This change

will bring about some changes however, the

MoCPA exec board looks forward to working

with our members to ensure that as an organiza-

tion we continue to meet the needs of our mem-

bers all throughout Missouri. Please see the de-

tails on this page regarding some of the changes

and should anyone have questions please let a

member of the Exec board know.

External Chapter of ACPA

Must incorporate with own 501 ( C ) (3)

status, therefore filing own yearly tax pa-

perwork and have its own Employer Iden-

tification Number. (MoCPA already has

this status and we file our own yearly tax

paperwork)

All chapter members must be full ACPA

members. ACPA will help ease the transi-

tion by offering the following discounts.

New members, $30 year 1, $60 year 2, $90

year 3. New member grads, half new mem-

bers cost. Existing members, $90.

Member rates received at convention and

other ACPA activities

Web presence for state maintained on AC-

PA site

Must promote ACPA’s activities and ACPA

will promote those of MoCPA

State money may be held at financial insti-

tution of choice but accounts and financial

activity must be sent to ACPA

May not contract in ACPA’s name

Must provide evidence of $1 million com-

prehensive general liability insurance with

ACPA as co-insured.

Discounts on services such as Professional

Liability, Home & Auto insurance, life in-

surance and health plans. (Specific info is

Toy Box Leadership: Leadership lessons frm

the toys you loved as a child

By Ron Hunter Jr. & Michael E. Waddell

Published by: Thomas Nelson (2009)

Category: Leadership Programs

Toy Box Leadership takes the often convoluted

and sometimes stuffy world of leadership books

and flips it completely on it’s head. Throughout

the book the writers take common toys such as

the Slinky Dog, Rubik’s cube and green army

men and utilized them to teach readers that

many of the skills necessary to lead such as pa-

tience and organization we already learned as

children from out toys.

I found myself enjoying this book not because

of the lessons it teaches per-se but more be-

cause of the way it teaches them. Talking about

leadership can often times become boring as we

usually utilize the same methods we learned

about in college and grad school. However, I

have found that by utilizing the authors work

and lessons in conjunction with a slew of toys

that it is much easier to engage with students,

faculty and staff as they light up seeing many of

the toys they loved as children strewn out on ta-

ble before them.

Whether you a re a grizzled veteran looking to

spice up your presentations on leadership or a

new professional needing to prepare your own

portfolio, this book can definitely instill a sense

of fun in the otherwise crazy world of leader-

ship
