    Modesto City Schools is made up of an elementary school district (grades K-8)and a high school district (grades 9-12). Both are governed by a single, seven-

    member Board of Education elected at large from within the high school district

    attendance area approximately 250 square miles for four-year terms of office.

    There are 22 elementary schools (grades K-6), four junior high schools (grades7-8), seven comprehensive high schools (grades 9-12), and an extensive

    alternative education program within Modesto City Schools. Enrollment for the

    2012-2013 school year is expected to reach approximately over 30,000 students.

    The Districts Strategic Plan outlines the commitment to the educationalachievement of every student, regardless of his or her background or circumstance.

    Five Essentials comprise the Strategic Plan: Rigorous and Relevant Instruction,

    Culture of Continuous Learning, Strong Relationships, Quality Leadership, andShared Responsibility and Accountability.
