PC Hardware Requirements


TEMS Investigation is designed to run on a standard PC and interfaces with the

connected devices mainly through USB or serial ports.

Processor and RAM requirements are strongly dependent on what external devices

are connected and what tasks they will perform.

Recommended minimum configuration is: Pentium T7200 or AMD TL-58 class CPU,

preferably with dedicated graphics card from ATI or nVidia; 1 GB RAM.

Note that it is not advisableto collect data with more than one device, or to collect

data in an LTE or HSPA network, using the configuration above.

When using TI for highspeed data testing or multiple devices we strongly

recommend using a computer with a dedicated grafic card.

Manual section 5.1.

PC Software Requirements


Operating System

Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (x86, x64)

Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (x86)

Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (x86)

All the latest Windows updates should always be installed

Third-party Software

.NET Framework version 4.0

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 (not included in Windows XP)

Microsoft DirectX 9.0c required for video streaming measurements

Installing TEMS Investigation

Administrator rights are required to install TEMS Investigation.

User Authentication Control (UAC) must be turned off

Install from CD following the on-screen instructions.

If installation does not start automatically, run the file

SetupTEMSInvestigation.exe

Default installation folder: C:\Program Files\Ascom\TEMS Products\TEMS Investigation .

Utilities installed:

HASP SRM Remote Update

Check for TEMS Investigation Update

Manual UE Configuration Service Settings

TEMS Investigation Computer Diagnostics

TEMS Pocket Positioning Tool

Updating TEMS Investigation

TEMS Investigation updates are available automatically.

Check at start up

Utility to check for updates installed

Located under the utilities folder Default installation folder:

TEMS Investigation 14.0 to 14.x

Only PC Software is updated

New features added might need additional license(s) purchased separately

Installing HASP licenses

Local license HASP HL, no further

action.

Local license HASP SL, apply license to

PC.

Network license HASP SL, install HASPdriver in license server machine and

apply license to license server.

TEMS Investigation Computer Diagnostics

Evaluates current status of the PC.

Determines how well it is prepared for

running TEMS Investigation.

Performs the following:

Checks several PC settings that havesignificant impact on TEMS Investigation

performance, particularly regarding data

collection.

Checks hardware capabilities (processor

and RAM), and matches them against the

requirements of TEMS Investigation.

Launching TEMS Investigation

HASP license is required to launch

TEMS Investigation.

HASP HL: Hardware key must be

connected to a USB port of the PC.

HASP SL: Software key must be applied

to the PC or obtained from a LicenseServer.

Launched from:

Start>All Programs>Ascom>TEMS

Products>TEMS Investigation

Select Workspace to open and click OK.

Summary

TEMS Investigation runs on a standard PC and interfaces with connected devices
