ISTE- MCET Chapter conducted a talk “ Comparative study on stabilization of marine clay using nano silca and lime ” by : Prof . Joju M.R , Asst. Professor, CE Dept on 31/01/2019 at 3:15 PM in the CGPC Hall of M CE T, ANAD as part of its Weekly Colloquium .

    ELIXIR 2018 (Association of Department of BT & BCE) and IIChE, MCET Students Chapter were inaugurated by Shri C. R. Thomas, Deputy Director, VSSC on 9th August 2018, 2 pm at CGPC Hall, MCET Anad. Welcome speech and Introduction of the Chief Guest were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) K. M. Usha, Head of the Department, BT & BCE. The presidential Address was given by Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran, Director, MCET. Then Dr. S. Sheela, Principal. MCET addressed the gathering. Shri. C. R. Thomas gave a session on “Personality Development” and there was an interactive session with the students. Prof. Punnia Prasad (Staff in Charge of IIChE MCET Students Chapter) has introduced the office bearers of ELIXIR’18 and IIChE MCET Students Chapter for the next one year.

    ICNumACA’18-The International Conference on Numerical Analysis, Computing and Applications in science and engineering and technology ( ICNumACA)18 organized by the Department of Mathematics, Mohandas college of engineering and technology ,Anad

    was officially inaugurated by Dr. George Gheverghese joseph, Professor university of Manchester, UK on 17 thDecember 2018 at

    10.30am in the college auditorium. Dr. S Sheela Principal MCET delivered the welcome address. The presidential address was given

    by Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran Director MCET. Sri. G Mohandas Chairman VNGP Trust and Smt. Rani Mohandas secretary VNGP

    Trust addressed the gathering during the function. Sri G. Mohandas honoured the Chief guests with Ponnada and Smt. Rani

    Mohandas presented memento. Dr V Madukar Mallaya Professor and HOD department of mathematics gave a briefing of the

    objectives of four day international conference. Dr. E Krishnan (Professor Retd. University college Kerala) and DR. S Dasgupta (

    Retd. HOD , EEE Department ) felicitated the occasion. Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Nisha S ( Dept. of Mathematics ) .

    Eminent foreign experts like Dr.Ricardo Ruiz Baier (Oxford), Dr. Csaba Gaspar (Hungary), Dr. Afaf Bouharguane (France), Dr.

    Maria Gonzalez Taboada (Spain), Dr. Betuel Canhanga (Mozambique), Dr. Kanhaiya Jha (Nepal), Dr. Veronica Anaya Dominguez

    (Chile), Dr. Mehmet Emir Koksal (Turkey), Dr. David Mora (Chile) were present during the inaugural ceremony. The four day event

    will conclude on 20th December 2018.

    Prayan 2018- ( Alumni Induction Programme) was conducted on June 18th 2018, Monday at Mohandas Hall. Students of 2018 passing out batch along with their family members attended the programme. Students of all branches of B-Tech (2014-18 batch) and

    M-Tech were presented with a bonafide certificate and college memento , followed by grand lunch at 2.30. The programme was

    conducted by Alumni Association of MCET.

    Distinguished Alumni The last AGM was conducted on 30/12/2018 at mini Hall,MCET. The registration started at 10 am. The official function began at 10.30am Our Principal Dr. Sheela S. Welcomed the gathering. Dr. Ashalatha

    Thampuran, Director gave way the Presidential Addres. Ms. Rashmi S Nair, faculty, CSE Department

    presented the Annual Report and Mr. Prabhsimran Singh, faculty, EEE Department presented the Annual

    accounts for approval. Nearly 180 alumni members attended the meeting. Endowment awards were also

    distributed and they are as follows: Smt. Sarasija Thampuran Memorial Award, for the best outgoing

    student from the college. Dr. Sutapa Sen Endowment award, for the best outgoing student from EEE

    Dept. Sri. Balaram Gopalan Memorial award, for a student who scores highest marks in the Engineering

    Mathematics. A special prize is awarded to a student in EEE dept., with good technical skills, which is

    instituted by an alumni member Mr. Dileep Kumar 2006 IT batch. For that he has deposited an amount of

    Rs.25000 in AAMCET account. A special prize is awarded in the name of Prof. Muraleedharan Nair,

    former HOD, Department of Mathematics to a student from final year who secured highest GPA up to S6

    and this award is instituted by 2012 batch. Smt. Kaushalya Vati Endowment Award for the best outgoing

    female student instituted by Mr Premjit Singh. Shri. Shriramachari Endowment award for the Best

    outgoing student BT&BCE instituted by Prof Alwan. T.K Divakaran Memorial Award for the Best

    Outgoing student in Civil Dept. instituted by Dr. S Sheela, Principal MCET. Madhavi Amma Memorial

    Award for the Best Outgoing Female student in CSE instituted by Mr. Sabarish S Nair. Academic

    proficiency awards for the students with highest overall GPA were presented on this occasion. The

    official function was followed with Musical programme led by Gautham R (Alumini 2008 CSE). Election

    of new Executive members from each department was held.

    ACES’18-This year’s (2018-2019) activities of ACES (Association of Computer science &

    Engineering Students) was inaugurated on 13th September 2018.. The chief guest for the

    function,Mr.Georgie Kurien (Sr Manager,Information Security, Envestnet) inaugurated the

    function and gave a technical talk on ““Information Security Significance & Opportunities”. The

    Director, Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran presided over the function. Dr.Jayaprakash P, HOD, Dept of

    CSE gave a welcome address to all dignitaries and Dr.R.Imbrahimkutty (HOD, ECE Department,

    MCET), has felicitated the event. Mr. Shankar H, Secretary ACES presented the academic year

    (2017-2018) activity plan. Mr.Vignesh (s5 CSE) winner of “Idea Presentation” presented his new

    idea in the area of computer game development. All HOD’s of various departments, Faculty and students of CSE were present in the event. As part of ACES inauguration, organized Idea

    presentation contest on 4th September 2018.Vignesh (s5 CSE) won first prize and Ritvik

    R.Thampy (s7 CSE) won Second prize.

    Workshop on “Drupal” Inauguration of 2days Workshop on “Drupal”was conducted in the CGPC Hall of Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology on 03rd of August 2018. It was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr. Sheela S (Principal, MCET) followed by an inaugural address. Dr. P. Jayaprakash (HOD, Department of Computer science and Engineering, MCET) welcomed the Chief Guests and the audience. He also gave a brief idea about FOSSCEL@MCET, its objectives and about the need and benefits of using free software like “Drupal”. A felicitation speech was given by Dr B Sivasubramonian, HOD – ME Department. Mr. JithinMohan (Student Coordinator, Fosscell@mcet, Dept. of CSE, MCET) extended the vote of thanks. Workshop on “Drupal” was for 2 days on the 3rd and 4th August , 2018.The workshop was conducted as hands on training at the network lab of CSE department. We were too lucky to get Mr. Abhiram and Mr. Kiran, two well experienced persons from AVS technologies as the trainers for the workshop. The 32 participants were all engineering students from different semesters and branches of engineering.They gave a very

    positive feedback about the programme.

    Workshop on “Android Application Development”-The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, MCET in association with FOSSCell@MCET and ICFOSS has organized a two days workshop on “Android Application Development ” on 8th & 9th

    February 2019 for students of Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The programme was sponsored by ICFOSS. 40 students from various Engineering Colleges including MCET attended the workshop. The workshop was conducted with the technical support from M/S Elementz Engineers Guild Pvt. Ltd

    Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a skill development initiative scheme of the Government of India for recognition and standardization of skills. The aim of the PMKVY scheme is to encourage aptitude towards employable skills and to increase working efficiency of probable and existing daily wage earners by providing quality training to them.Five courses are approved to be conducted at Mohandas College Of Engineering and Technology and they are Field technician – Computer peripherals, CNC operator trainee, TV operator technician, IT Coordinator at school and assistant Electrician - construction sector. Classes for one batch of students are completed and they are waiting for their assessment. The second batch for assistant Electrician - construction

    sector have started their classes on 28/10/18 with 25 students. Classes are arranged on all Saturdays and Sundays and other holidays.

    Professional activities ’ ETERJA’18 Electrical & Electronics Engineering Association continues its journey with laudable ventures to make our students challenging professionals by allowing their talents to flourish, polish their skill and to allow the students get in touch with reality and do their best for the uplift of the society. Last year we got the Best Association of MCET award. This year, the activities will be focused on to equip the students to contribute in the development activities to face the natural or other type of calamities.ETERJA18 was inaugurated on 14th September 2018 by Prof.V.K.Damodaran, Chairman, Center for Environment and Development. Dr.Lathika.B.S, HOD EEE welcome the gathering, Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran delivered

    the presidential address and Dr.Sheela gave the Principal’s address. Prof.Neethu.U presented the future activities and Akhil, student coordinator gave the theme presentation. The appreciation award were distributed to students those who toiled hard for the association and later Rahul proposed the vote of thanks. After the inaugural function Prof.V.K.Damodaran delivered the keynote on the topic ‘Lunar Circle to Lunar Colonies, Electrons to work”

    Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a skill development initiative scheme of the Government of India for recognition

    and standardization of skills. The aim of the PMKVY scheme is to encourage aptitude towards employable skills and to increase working efficiency of probable and existing daily wage earners by providing quality training to them.Five courses are approved to be conducted at Mohandas College Of Engineering and Technology and they are Field technician – Computer peripherals, CNC operator trainee, TV operator technician, IT Coordinator at school and assistant Electrician - construction sector. Classes for one batch of students are completed and they are waiting for their assessment. The second batch for assistant Electrician - construction sector have started their classes on 28/10/18 with 25 students. Classes are arranged on all Saturdays and Sundays and other holidays.

    The SCULTURA ‘18(Association of CE) One day workshop on “Corrosion in concrete and rehabilitation” was conducted on 18/09/2018 by Civil Dept of MCET in association with Society of Surface and protective coatings”. Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran Director,MCET , Dr.S.Sheela Principal,MCET and Dr. Narayanan HOD,Civil Dept,MCET were present for inaugural functions. The resource people for the event were Mr. K.G.K.Moorthy, President SSPC ,South India, Prof. A.S.Khanna, President SSPC, IIT

    Bombay, Prof. M.Nazeer, Professor, TKMCE,Kollam, Mr. Anwar Hussain, Vice-President, SSPC,Kerala, Mr.Vijesh Lal, Manager, Cera-chemicals Ltd, Mr.S.Ravichandran, Senior Manager, Berger Paints.

    Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a skill development initiative scheme of the Government of India for recognition and standardization of skills. The aim of the PMKVY scheme is to encourage aptitude towards employable skills and to increase working efficiency of probable and existing daily wage earners by providing quality training to them.Five courses are

    approved to be conducted at Mohandas College Of Engineering and Technology and they are Field technician – Computer peripherals, CNC operator trainee, TV operator technician, IT Coordinator at school and assistant Electrician - construction sector. Classes for one batch of students are completed and they are waiting for their assessment. The second batch for assistant Electrician - construction sector have started their classes on 28/10/18 with 25 students. Classes are arranged on all Saturdays and Sundays and other holidays.

    The last AGM was conducted on 30 /12/2018 at mini Hall, MOHANDAS COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING. The registration

    started at 10 am. The official function began at 10.30am Our Principal Dr. Sheela S. Welcomed the gathering. Dr. Ashalatha

    Thampuran, Director gave way the Presidential Addres. Ms. Rashmi S Nair, faculty, CSE Department presented the Annual

    Report and Mr. Prabhsimran Singh, faculty, EEE Department presented the Annual accounts for approval. Nearly 180 alumni

    members attended the meeting. Endowment awards were also distributed and they are as follows: Smt. Sarasija Thampuran

    Memorial Award, for the best outgoing student from the college. Dr. Sutapa Sen Endowment award, for the best outgoing

    student from EEE Dept. Sri. Balaram Gopalan Memorial award, for a student who scores highest marks in the Engineering

    Mathematics. A special prize is awarded to a student in EEE dept., with good technical skills, which is instituted by an alumni

    member Mr. Dileep Kumar 2006 IT batch. For that he has deposited an amount of Rs.25000 in AAMCET account. A special

    prize is awarded in the name of Prof. Muraleedharan Nair, former HOD, Department of Mathematics to a student from final

    year who secured highest GPA up to S6 and this award is instituted by 2012 batch. Smt. Kaushalya Vati Endowment Award

    for the best outgoing female student instituted by Mr Premjit Singh. Shri. Shriramachari Endowment award for the Best

    outgoing student BT&BCE instituted by Prof Alwan. T.K Divakaran Memorial Award for the Best Outgoing student in Civil

    Dept. instituted by Dr. S Sheela, Principal MCET. Madhavi Amma Memorial Award for the Best Outgoing Female student in

    CSE instituted by Mr. Sabarish S Nair. Academic proficiency awards for the students with highest overall GPA were

    presented on this occasion. The official function was followed with Musical programme led by Gautham R (Alumini 2008

    CSE). Election of new Executive members from each department was held.

    Professional activities The association activities for the year 2018-19 of MCA department- MASTEC was inaugurated

    on 5/10/2018, by Mr. Anish John, Chief Operating Officer, NeoVibe Innovative Technologies,

    Techno park, Trivandrum. Students organized various contests like quiz competition, paper

    presentation, gaming contest etc on that day.

    Workshop on “Android Application Development”-The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, MCET in association with

    FOSSCell@MCET and ICFOSS has organized a two days workshop on “Android Application Development ” on 8th & 9th February 2019 for students

    of Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The programme was sponsored by ICFOSS. 40 students from

    various Engineering Colleges including MCET attended the workshop. The workshop was conducted with the technical support from M/S Elementz

    ACES’18-This year’s (2018-2019) activities of ACES (Association of Computer science & Engineering

    Students) was inaugurated on 13th September 2018.. The chief guest for the function,Mr.Georgie Kurien (Sr Manager,Information Security, Envestnet) inaugurated the function and gave a technical talk on ““Information Security Significance & Opportunities”. The Director, Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran presided over the function. Dr.Jayaprakash P, HOD, Dept of CSE gave a welcome address to all dignitaries and Dr.R.Imbrahimkutty (HOD, ECE Department, MCET), has felicitated the event. Mr. Shankar H, Secretary ACES presented the academic year (2017-2018) activity plan. Mr.Vignesh (s5 CSE) winner of “Idea Presentation” presented his new idea in the area of computer game development. All HOD’s of various departments, Faculty and students of CSE were present in the event. As part of ACES inauguration,

    organized Idea presentation contest on 4th September 2018.Vignesh (s5 CSE) won first prize and Ritvik R.Thampy (s7 CSE) won Second prize.

    Workshop on “Drupal” Inauguration of 2days Workshop on “Drupal”was conducted in the CGPC Hall of Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology on 03rd of August 2018. It was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr. Sheela S (Principal, MCET) followed by an inaugural address. Dr. P. Jayaprakash (HOD, Department of Computer science and Engineering, MCET) welcomed the Chief Guests and the audience. He also gave a brief idea about FOSSCEL@MCET, its objectives and about the need and benefits of using free software like “Drupal”. A felicitation speech was given by Dr B Sivasubramonian, HOD – ME Department. Mr. JithinMohan (Student Coordinator, Fosscell@mcet, Dept. of CSE, MCET) extended the vote of thanks. Workshop on “Drupal” was for 2 days on the 3rd and 4th August , 2018.The workshop was conducted as hands on training at the network lab of CSE department. We were too lucky to get Mr. Abhiram and Mr. Kiran, two well experienced persons from AVS technologies as the trainers for the workshop. The 32 participants were all engineering

    students from different semesters and branches of engineering.They gave a very positive feedback about the programme.

    ’ ETERJA’18 Electrical & Electronics Engineering Association continues its journey with laudable ventures to make our students challenging professionals by allowing their talents to flourish, polish their

    skill and to allow the students get in touch with reality and do their best for the uplift of the society. Last year we got the Best Association of MCET award. This year, the activities will be focused on to equip the students to contribute in the development activities to face the natural or other type of calamities.ETERJA18 was inaugurated on 14th September 2018 by Prof.V.K.Damodaran, Chairman, Center for Environment and Development. Dr.Lathika.B.S, HOD EEE welcome the gathering, Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran delivered the presidential address and Dr.Sheela gave the Principal’s address. Prof.Neethu.U presented the future activities and Akhil, student coordinator gave the theme presentation. The appreciation award were distributed to students those who toiled hard for the association and later

    The last AGM was conducted on 30 /12/2018 at mini Hall, MOHANDAS COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING. The registration started at 10 am. The official function began at 10.30am Our Principal Dr. Sheela S.

    Welcomed the gathering. Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran, Director gave way the Presidential Addres. Ms. Rashmi S Nair, faculty, CSE Department presented the Annual Report and Mr. Prabhsimran Singh, faculty, EEE Department presented the Annual accounts for approval. Nearly 180 alumni members attended the meeting. Endowment awards were also distributed and they are as follows: Smt. Sarasija Thampuran Memorial Award, for the best outgoing student from the college. Dr. Sutapa Sen Endowment award, for the best outgoing student from EEE Dept. Sri. Balaram Gopalan Memorial award, for a student who scores highest marks in the Engineering Mathematics. A special prize is awarded to a student in EEE dept., with good technical skills, which is instituted by an alumni member Mr. Dileep Kumar 2006 IT batch. For that he

    has deposited an amount of Rs.25000 in AAMCET account. A special prize is awarded in the name of Prof. Muraleedharan Nair, former HOD, Department of Mathematics to a student from final year who secured highest GPA up to S6 and this award is instituted by 2012 batch.

    COLLOQUIUM 2018 – Every year MCET is conducting Intercollege National Fest for the students. This year it was conducted on 16th and 17th of March 2018. The curtain raiser program was a Bike Rally from kowdiar to MCET started at 7.30 am. It was flagged

    off by Shri Sriram Venkataraman IAS in the presence of Smt.Rani Mohandas and Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran. The Inauguration was held on 16th March by Smt. Rani Mohandas. The Chief Guest for the Inter College Fest was Padmashree M.C.Dattan, Chief advisor of Chief Minister of Kerala, scientific wing. The conclusion event was Best Engineer on 17 th march evening.

    MCET College day 2018 was celebrated on 28th March 2018. The chief Guests of the day were Sri. M. Jayachandran (Music Director) and Sri. Shankar Ramakrishnan (Director/Script Writer). The programme started with prayer and Dr. S. Narayanan welcomed the gathering. Then the programmed was inaugurated by the chief guests by lighting the lamp. Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran

    presented the annual report of all the activities held during the academic year 2017-18. Smt. Rani Moahandas Secertary, V.N.G.P. Trust addressed the gathering followed by prize distribution for students and staffs for their achievements. Sri. Krishnamohan, Treasurer, V.N.G.P. Trust were also present during the event. After the prize distribution, various cultural events by the students were conducted.

    ICNumACA’18-The International Conference on Numerical Analysis, Computing and Applications in science and engineering and technology ( ICNumACA)18 organized by the Department of Mathematics, Mohandas college of engineering and technology ,Anad was officially inaugurated by Dr. George Gheverghese joseph, Professor university of Manchester, UK on 17 thDecember 2018 at 10.30am in the college auditorium. Dr. S Sheela Principal MCET delivered the welcome address. The presidential address was given by Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran Director MCET. Sri. G Mohandas Chairman VNGP Trust and Smt. Rani Mohandas secretary VNGP Trust addressed the gathering during the function. Sri G. Mohandas honoured the Chief guests with Ponnada and Smt. Rani Mohandas presented memento. Dr V Madukar Mallaya Professor and HOD department of mathematics gave a briefing of the

    objectives of four day international conference. Dr. E Krishnan (Professor Retd. University college Kerala) and DR. S Dasgupta ( Retd. HOD , EEE Department ) felicitated the occasion. Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Nisha S ( Dept. of Mathematics ) . Eminent foreign experts like Dr.Ricardo Ruiz Baier (Oxford), Dr. Csaba Gaspar (Hungary), Dr. Afaf Bouharguane (France), Dr. Maria Gonzalez Taboada (Spain), Dr. Betuel Canhanga (Mozambique), Dr. Kanhaiya Jha (Nepal), Dr. Veronica Anaya Dominguez (Chile), Dr. Mehmet Emir Koksal (Turkey), Dr. David Mora (Chile) were present during the inaugural ceremony. The four day event will conclude on 20th December 2018.

    Prayan 2018- ( Alumni Induction Programme) was conducted on June 18th 2018, Monday at Mohandas Hall. Students of 2018 passing out batch along with their family members attended the programme. Students of all branches of B-Tech (2014-18 batch) and M-Tech were presented with a bonafide certificate and college memento , followed by grand lunch at 2.30. The programme was conducted by Alumni Association of MCET.
