A Safe, Fair, Caring Learning Community Mole Creek Primary School Newsletter – 16th October, 2012 Department of Education Principal’s Desk As you saw from the Grade 3/4 report in last week’s newsletter we had a very successful lambing this spring. Our 13 ewes produced 18 healthy lambs. This is an invaluable resource and educational opportunity for our students and I thank all the people who have helped out by volunteering their time and resources. On Friday we have our school athletics carnival. The day will begin at 9:30am and because of the small group of staff that will be present on the day we have put together a roster of parent assistance (see page 2) and hope that you can help us out. Your help would be greatly appreciated if you have been rostered on. If you cannot attend, or, if you are attending and haven’t been assigned a job but would like to assist, please let me know. A reminder that Kinder and Pre-Kinder children require a teddy bear or other such toy to participate in the teddy bear race. Last Friday, during the student free day, teachers were able to plan the science curriculum for our school for 2013 and 2014 as well as moderate English work samples in preparation for end of year reports. Also during the day staff were able to align the nearly $800 worth of maths resources, with our current resources, that the Parents and Friends kindly supplied, so that they can be best used within the Australian Curriculum. Yesterday a permission/medical information form went home for the upcoming swimming and water safety program. Please return this as soon as possible and take note of the information it provides including the compulsory wearing of swimming caps. Our program begins on the 29 th of October at the Deloraine Primary indoor pool and swim caps will be handed out at this time. (Swim caps are $2 each.) Another reminder that the 5/6 camp is on next week and, as yet, not all permission/medical information forms have been returned. Please do this as soon as possible along with paying the camp fees. Principal’s Desk

As you saw from the Grade 3/4 report in last week’s newsletter we had a very successful lambing this spring. Our 13

ewes produced 18 healthy lambs. This is an invaluable resource and educational opportunity for our students and I

thank all the people who have helped out by volunteering their time and resources.

On Friday we have our school athletics carnival. The day will begin at 9:30am and because of the small group of staff

that will be present on the day we have put together a roster of parent assistance (see page 2) and hope that you can

help us out. Your help would be greatly appreciated if you have been rostered on. If you cannot attend, or, if you are

attending and haven’t been assigned a job but would like to assist, please let me know. A reminder that Kinder and

Pre-Kinder children require a teddy bear or other such toy to participate in the teddy bear race.

Last Friday, during the student free day, teachers were able to plan the science curriculum for our school for 2013 and

2014 as well as moderate English work samples in preparation for end of year reports. Also during the day staff were

able to align the nearly $800 worth of maths resources, with our current resources, that the Parents and Friends kindly

supplied, so that they can be best used within the Australian Curriculum.

Yesterday a permission/medical information form went home for the upcoming swimming and water safety program.

Please return this as soon as possible and take note of the information it provides including the compulsory wearing of

swimming caps. Our program begins on the 29th of October at the Deloraine Primary indoor pool and swim caps will

be handed out at this time. (Swim caps are $2 each.)

Another reminder that the 5/6 camp is on next week and, as yet, not all permission/medical information forms have

been returned. Please do this as soon as possible along with paying the camp fees.

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, 18th October at 1.30pm in the staff room. Everyone is invited to attend. An order form for the Athletics Carnival is attached to this newsletter. Thankyou to the parents who have volunteered their time to assist with the BBQ and events at the upcoming athletics carnival. We haven’t received near enough responses however, so we have decided in order for this day to be a success we needed to allocate duties to families. All jobs are relatively easy and will be supervised by experienced staff. If you cannot assist during your designated time, please call the school office prior to Friday. Please refer to the roster below to check your duties and allocated time.

We will be conducting a Christmas Raffle, to be drawn on the last week of this term. Donations of items suitable for the raffle can be left at the school office. Raffle books will be sent home to every family later in the term.
