Canada is a country of wide open spaces and offers a world of contrasts _ modern

cities rich in art and culture are on the doorstep of rugged mountain ranges and the

great outdoors.

Canada’s west contains some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, the

harbour front cities of Vancouver and Victoria, the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains

with picturesque Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, and the stampede city of Calgary.

In the east visit the cosmopolitan cities of Toronto, Montreal and Québec, the capital

Ottawa and thundering Niagara Falls. Experience the history of the St. Lawrence

River region and the rugged coastlines of the Maritime Provinces. In the north view

the polar bears and beluga whales of Manitoba or wonder at the unspoilt beauty

and fascinating Gold Rush history of the Yukon.

If it’s a tour by coach or rail, or you prefer the independence of your own

motorhome or rental car, Momento Travel Services can arrange it all as the leader

in travel to Canada.

Located 80 kilometres north of Campbell River, British Columbia, isthe wild and remote Knight Inlet. Situated 60 kilometres from themouth of the inlet in Glendale Cove is Knight Inlet Lodge. GlendaleCove is home to one of the largest concentrations of grizzly bears inBritish Columbia. It is not uncommon for there to be up to 50 bearswithin 10 kilometres of the lodge in the peak fall season, when thesalmon are returning to the river. Although they are abundant inthe fall, it is not the only season that grizzly bears can be found inGlendale Cove. Starting in late April the bears return to the estuaryfrom winter dens and start the year feeding on the sedges, succulents, grasses and barnacles that abound in the estuary.

This is the time to see, at close proximity, the tiny cubs emerge withtheir ever-cautious mothers. In the summer, the berry crop is veryheavy and this helps keeps the bears in the general area.

As well as bear viewing, Knight Inlet Lodge also offers a number ofother highlights including marine wildlife tours, excursions to theupper reaches of Knight Inlet, day-hiking programs and guidedkayaking tours. Many of these activities are only available to guestsstaying a minimum of 3 nights at Knight Inlet Lodge. Knight Inletpackages can be extended to six night’s duration. Momento TravelServices highly recommends staying at Knight Inlet Lodge for aminimum of two nights.

Travel to America is nothing short of grand. Only in America can

you find an astounding collection of natural and cultural

wonders, from the wildly colourful tapestry of urban streets to

dramatic coastlines, barren deserts, iceberg laden peaks, plains

of remote tundra rich in even grander wildlife, amazing beaches,

delectable vineyards, rolling prairies and giant redwoods that

cover vast expanses of the country which itself spans 9.83 million

square kilometres. Putting this into perspective, even the

shortest distance from the East to West Coast (as the crow flies)

is a hefty 3,347 km from San Diego, California to Jacksonville,

Florida. Culture, cuisine, entertainment, wildlife, awe-inspiring

landscapes, cityscapes and historic hubs make this a country of

road trips, rail journeys and great open skies that unequivocally

offer something for everyone. Perhaps the only problem...where

to start?

along the winding Pacific and Atlantic Coasts. When you arise, enjoyContinental or American breakfast on the train. Make friends over aglass of wine and dine on regional specialties like catfish andMississippi Mud cake. That is what awaits you as you journey aboardthe train following the Mississippi River and “Blues Trail” throughmusical Memphis, St. Louis and new Orleans. Travelling east, Thedeep South’s bayous, bays, white-columned houses and cottonfields give way to Florida’s everglades, sandy beaches, and man-made attractions. Modern-day Texas cowboys, purple sunsets, blooming deserts and more are all on display from your vantagepoint aboard the train.
