Fields CJDR JAM Werks Division Builds Custom Jeep® Vehicles, Builds Up Charities A Message from

Pietro Gorlier

As one of the top-selling Jeep Wrangler dealerships in the country, Fields Chrysler Jeep® Dodge Ram (CJDR) in Glenview, Illinois, frequently found its technicians servicing Wrangler vehicles with improperly installed accessories. The group at Fields decided to create a separate division to help owners customize their off-road rides with high-quality Mopar products and, in the process, sparked a tradition of giving a lift to worthwhile charities.

The new division, dubbed JAM Werks by Fields Auto Group (the JAM standing for Jeep and Mopar), was founded in 2013 and is housed in the dealership’s 42,000 square-foot facility where it provides enthusiasts with premier custom Mopar modifications. For the division’s inaugural build, Fields CJDR General Manager Jim Moyer chose to honor a very special and meaningful cause: the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation (CPMF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the lives and memories of fallen heroes.

Moyer lost a friend in the line of duty, so a special Jeep Wrangler build was designed to pay homage to the CPMF while incorporating a plethora of Mopar parts. Fields donated all the time and labor required to create special Chicago PD-themed graphics and handle accessory installation. The vehicle was displayed in the FCA US display at the Chicago Auto Show and later handed over to the CPMF for auction, ultimately raising more than $100,000 for the organization.

“Yes, we’re a business, and we want to make money, but we also look for opportunities to give back to the community,” says Moyer, who has worked for the Fields Auto Group for 30 years, with more than 20 as a GM. “We’re blessed that the owners, John and Dan Fields, allow us to be creative. We do a lot of charity work in the community.”

As we usher in a new year, the changes for Mopar during the last five years have been dramatic for the brand and for you, our dealer body.

Between 2009 and 2014, U.S. parts market share and retention increased significantly. We opened nine PDCs around the globe in that time frame, with facilities opening in China, Austra-lia, Japan, S. Africa, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, South Korea and Dubai. In 2009, Mopar sold approximately 600,000 service contracts, while in 2014, the number of Mopar Vehicle Protec-tion (MVP) plans sold under the newly branded name increased to 1.7 million — an important statistic considering that each contract equates to an average of three future service visits to your stores.

The Mopar Custom Shops in North America ended the year with more than 170,000 vehicles processed, for an increase of 22 percent over 2013. Last year, Custom Shop packages resulted in $83.1M in revenue versus $77.8M in 2013. We launched more than 40 new unique pack-ages last year as well. We are continuing the roll out of our popular Jeep® Hood Map Decals, and the JPP two-inch lift kits that we launched in volume late last year, with just slightly less than

place of prominence in the FCA US Chicago Auto Show exhibit. In 2015, the division is doubling down in the display area, building a pair of unique Wrangler vehicle creations — one to benefit the Illinois Special Olympics and the other once again earmarked for the CPMF, this time to aid the organization in its “Behind the Vest” drive to replace expired bulletproof vests worn by officers while on duty.

Starting with the first build in 2013, all accessories for the projects have been graciously donated by Mopar, a fact much appreciated by Moyer.

“It was very important to have Mopar buy into the program,” stresses Moyer. “Not only did they say yes to the build, but Mopar stepped up and donated all the accessories for the project.” The brand didn’t hold back on the products provided for the charity builds. “We’ve used almost everything in the Mopar catalog,” adds Moyer. “Lift kits, bumpers, performance exhaust, cold air intake, performance hoods, light bars, winches, Katzkin® leather seats, wheels, tires and much more — the accessories list for each project has been almost two pages.”

The builds have generated media coverage, including a TV segment by the local ABC affiliate documenting the 2015 projects. And according to Moyer, the JAM Werks modification business is thriving.

“It’s been a major watershed for profits,” says Moyer. “It was a no-brainer. Why wouldn’t you do it if you’re a Jeep enthusiast? Our parts carry warranties, and owners who come to us for Mopar lift kits, wheels and more have the reassurance that we’re using parts designed specifically for their vehicles.

“Our parts sales have more than doubled. People want to go to someone who knows what they are doing. It’s been great.”

Great for business — and great for the charitable organizations that have been helped by the custom builds created by JAM Werks by Fields Auto Group.

With at least 40 percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States accessorized at time of sale with at least one accessory, customiza-tion continues to be an important part of what Mopar offers new customers. As you’ll read in a related story in this issue, our Mopar-customized Jeep Renegade vehicles displayed at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit illustrate how Mopar can help customers bring to life their own personal vision of the Jeep brand’s all-new small sport-utility vehicle. From urban to off-road, Mopar has parts and accessories to support the launch of this, and every new vehicle coming this year and beyond.

Good selling and great customer service!

Mopar opened its garage doors for visitors at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, showcasing a pair of Mopar-equipped Jeep® Renegade vehicles and a Dodge Challenger T/A Concept in its unique display space — complete with custom Mopar cabinets and Mopar neon signs and posters — at the event, held at Cobo Center in Detroit on January 12–25.

The off-road Jeep Renegade is a Trailhawk model that was transformed with Jeep Performance Parts and prototype parts. Large, bold body-side graphics, picking up on the “X”-shaped taillamps, highlight both sides of the Commando Green skin of the Renegade. In a nod to the Motor City roots of the NAIAS, a Detroit map decorates the Mopar Topographical Hood decal. The satin black wheels feature a single spoke trimmed in Colorado red, with tow hooks at the front and rear receiving the same treatment. Additional mods include satin black cross rails and Mopar roof basket, gloss black body-side rail, concept skid plate, prototype rock rails, rear valance and production roof rails. Interior upgrades include Katzkin® leather seat covers, plus HVAC bezels, speaker grilles and the center console highlighted in Commando Green to match the exterior. For the urban rendition, a Jeep Renegade Limited model was transformed with stylish Anvil paint and set off with distinct Omaha Orange touches, including attention-grabbing orange pockets featured on the satin black wheels. Mirror caps, grille rings, taillamp surrounds and roof rails also are accented Omaha Orange. At the rear, a Mopar hitch bike carrier is put to work for two-wheel transportation. Inside, Katzkin leather seats and Omaha orange highlights on the HVAC bezels, speaker grilles and the center console add flavor. A Dodge Challenger T/A Concept, first shown at the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas last November, served as a Sublime Green example that the big gun in the Dodge brand’s muscle-car arsenal hasn’t forgotten its roots. Full-length matte black T/A graphics flank each side of the body, and the functional “Viper”-inspired

center scoop hood with Mopar gloss black hood pins was adapted to accommodate a Mopar induction system and cool the 6.4-liter legendary 392 HEMI® engine, among a host of upgrades. “The company exhibit at the North American International Auto Show highlighted vehicles from all FCA brands, including three modified rides that illustrated how Mopar can assist customers in bringing to life their own personal vision of an FCA vehicle,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar. “Customers can pull from our portfolio of Mopar products to augment the versatility and capability of the all-new Jeep Renegade, as shown with two Mopar-equipped Renegade vehicles, or to beef up the muscle of the Dodge Challenger while adding a vintage feel, as demonstrated by the Dodge Challenger T/A Concept.”

Mopar was far from the only brand to heat up the show floor in frigid Detroit — a Spider and a Rebel also added sizzle. Ram unveiled the new 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel, delivering enthusiasts the off-road package for which they have long clamored, and Alfa Romeo revealed the all-new 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, featuring an open-air performance cockpit and race-inspired performance. The Ram 1500 Rebel is scheduled to go on sale early in the second half of 2015, with the 4C Spider set to arrive in dealerships this summer.

Tim Knutson, Mopar Business Development Manager; Kenneth Hembre, FCA US DM; Luis Colón, Denver BC Wholesale Parts Manager; Joe Stacken, Bernard’s Parts Manager; Ross Werner, FCA US Technical Advisor; and Mike McDonald, owner of St. Croix Automotive.

St. Croix Automotive in New Richmond, Wisconsin, scored an impressive haul recently, bagging the Ultimate Mopar Ga-rage Prize Package as part of the 2014 Mopar Big Game Giveaway.

The contest, hosted on MoparRepairConnection.com from July through September to help raise awareness of the web-site and Mopar specific aftermarket content, featured a different animal each month (penguin, cheetah and butterfly) composed of Mopar parts. Hundreds of IRFs took part in the contest, with participants required to identify all the parts correctly in order to be entered to win the grand prize.

St. Croix shop owner Mike McDonald himself identified the parts, bringing home the big prize for his garage, located near the Wisconsin/Minnesota border.

“Three months later, I received a call saying I won,” recalls McDonald, a self-described Mopar nut who services many clas-sic Mopar vehicles in his maintenance and repair shop, founded seven years ago. “I was like, ‘I won? What did I win?’”

McDonald claimed a grand prize package of Mopar goodies worth nearly $2,000 for his shop, including a Mopar neon clock, Mopar pub table, Mopar counter stools, Mopar dart board, Mopar aluminum and neon signs, a Mopar man cave sign, Dickies mechanic jackets and more. The grand prize was presented by the shop’s servicing dealer, Bernard’s North-town, along with support from the local BC and FCA HQ.

St. Croix has been a longtime customer of Bernard’s Northtown, a Mopar Wholesale Certified Dealer located in New Richmond, WI. As the St. Croix Automotive’s parts source for maintenance and repair parts, McDonald says, “There’s a list of O.E. Mopar parts that we will only buy from the Bernard’s. It’s non-negotiable because of the quality. The parts have the correct fit, and they work.”
