Zoom Meeting Rules + Guidelines• Do not share our meeting codes outside of our

you participation credit.• You are not required to be visible on your camera.• Your behavior is your responsibility no matter the Zoom

meeting settings. • Do not behave in a distracting way.• Stay on topic.• Raise your hand (not in the camera – see “participants”)• Our time is short and valuable, do not squander it by requiring me

to manage your behavior.• All extra devices not needed to attend our meetings

should be kept in a different room.

What Does “Learning Independently” Look Like?

• Choosing to do your work without anyone reminding you.• Choosing to do your work because you want to practice, even if

it’s not what you actually want to do.• Trying to understand a concept or material without guidance.

Key word: TRYING.• Reaching out when you need help.• Working through your frustration when something is hard to

understand, and even if you arrive at the end still not understanding, you also arrive at an emotionally healthy placeabout that:• “I will eventually understand it,”• “Maybe this is a moment to ask for more help,”• “I’ll look at this again tomorrow, it might look different then.”

• It does not mean understanding perfectly all on your own. Learning independently is about the process of learning. Not the outcome.

Make-up CreditCurrently, for our distance-learning pilot, there is no formal late work policy. Each teacher can make a judgement on how to deal with “late” work at this time.

Mrs. Hulewat’s Late Work/Make-up Credit Policy (Pilot Program):• All late work is welcome any time and as long as the work meets minimum

requirements, it will earn full participation credit.• To earn credit for a late assignment, submit the missing assignment to

Turnitin.com and then email me to let me know.• To earn credit for not attending a Zoom meeting, go to my “Distance

Learning” page, find the meeting you missed, read the slides, and fill-out the exit ticket. Email me letting me know you have done this.

*Keep in mind that if new late work policies are added to our long-term distance-learning program, this will change to match what the district says*

Conclusion

We should implement a junk food tax because it will change people’s buying habits and the revenue from the tax can go to other health programs.

Implementing a junk food tax will benefit other government-sponsored health programs as well as change the buying habits of the public.

The United States faces a health crisis with declining health across all ages… (summarize the issue)

Sentence 1: Summarize BP1 (revisit quote)Sentence 2: Summarize BP2 (revisit quote)Sentence 3: Summarize Counter Paragraph

If our favorite junk foods had a 10% mark-up, would it change our buying habits?

That 10% mark-up might not deter everyone from reaching for the candy bar, but it would cause everyone to reflect on the long-term costs of consuming junk food.
