Monash Sinfonia is a string ensemble that offers outstanding students the opportunity to work withmusicians of the very highest calibre both in Australia and overseas.Since its formation in 1996, Monash Sinfonia has performed in Australia at the Port Fairy Spring Music Since its formation in 1996, Monash Sinfonia has performed in Australia at the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, Melbourne Festival, Robert Blackwood Hall, Federation Square, Ripponlea, Abbotsford Convent and the Melbourne Recital Centre. Collaborative artists have included Wilma Smith, Jeffrey Crellin, Tinalley Quartet, Choir of Trinity College, Paul Grabowsky, Paul Dyer, Andrew Goodwin and Asmira Woodward-Page. Internationally, Monash Sinfonia has toured Italy and Brazil, premiering newworks by Thomas Reiner and Jonatas Manzoli. International collaborations have includedperformances with American violinist Tim Fain, violin virtuoso Nemanja Radulovic and composer andconductor Eric Whitacconductor Eric Whitacre.

MONASH ACADEMY ORCHESTRAMonash Academy Orchestra is a symphony orchestra based on the Clayton campus of MonashUniversity. Consisting of students from the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music as well as musiciansfrom across the wider Monash campuses, it is an orchestra committed to sharing the joy of musicalperformance.The orchestra has established an enviable reputation as an outstanding training and mentoringorchestra, performing a large variety of major symphonic repertoire from Beethoven and Mozart toStravinsky and Duke Ellington. Students are provided with the opportunity to develop their knowledgeof orchestral repertoire, as well as the ensemble skills necessary for professional practice.The orchestra is committed to performing the work of Australian composers. To this end, a new work is commissioned from an Australian composer each year. The orchestra works closely with established and renowned conductors and recognised soloists, providing students with the opportunity to learn from some of the very best in the industry.
