Goring C of E Primary School took part in the BBC Children in Need again this year. As a school we raised a whopping £422.28. Children in need took place on the 17th November and caused a rush of excitement throughout the school. School Dinners Today, Hip Hip Horary!

Some lovely roast pork…
Some very happy children enjoying their lunch.
Just a few weeks ago it was anti-bullying week. The theme was ‘All different. All Equal’ meaning just
because we are all different we should all be treated the same. In our classes, we have all completed
different activities to show that this was an important week. For example, in our class we made puzzle
pieces of what we like and things that we enjoy doing.
Sorry but this is a NO bullying area!
On Wednesday 15th November we had an
amazing skipping work shop. This workshop
runs every year but this year was even better!
We did all sorts of skipping tricks like cross-
overs, back crossovers, dutch, figures of eight
and a pretzel. It was quite difficult to master
but in the end we got there.
After each class had had half an hour learning
new types of skips, 6 boys and 6 girls were
chosen. These children would perform a little
showcase on what they learned to the whole
school.
Skipping Sensation
By Lily Taylor and Joy Cleverley
Each person was chosen to do a skip that the
leader thought they were good at. Year 6 did a
figure of eight turn which looked really cool.
Year 4&5 did cross-overs and the pretzel which
looked awesome too. Finally, Years 2 &3 did
normal skipping and fast double skips. Even
though there were a few mistakes, I thought it
was the best showcase so far.

Win Win Win On Thursday the 7th of December, at
Sheepcot field in Goring, there was a cross country race taking place. We did extremely well as a school and won 7 medals and 5 trophies. The following all finished in the top three of their event: Riona Street, Harrison Kent, Aoife Murphy, Sophie Scott, Finley Hannigan, Osian Watson, William Derbishire and the Olympic value medal went to Oscar Gardener. As we won the event it means we are officially the best cross country team in the area.
This term we are thinking about the rhinoceros. Did you know?
There are five different species of rhipceros. Three are from Southern Asia and two are from Africa. They are the Black Rhinocerso, White Rhinoceros, Indian Rhinoceros, Javan Rhinoceros and Sumatran Rhinoceros.
The name Rhinoceros comes from the ancient Greek word rhino (meaning nose) and serocs (meaning horn).
White rhinoceros are the second largest land mammal.
The white rhino is the largest rhino species and can weigh over 3500 kg and is the largest land mammal after the elephant.
Rhinos can grow over 6 feet tall and more than 11 feet in length.
The Black Rhinocerso, Javan Rhinoceros and Sumatran Rhinoceros are all critically endangered which means they have a 50% chance of becoming extinct within three generations.
Rhinoceros have thick, sensitive skin.
Rhinoceros are herbivores.
A group of rhinoceros is called a ’herd’ or a ’crash’
Despite their name, white and black rhinoceros are actually grey.

Outstanding Orchestra On Friday 15th December we had the annual orchestra assembly, where the orchestra, choir and recorder club performed. It was a delight to hear so many children perform and lovely to sing along to some Christmas songs.
