Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time February 3, 2019
Dear Parishioners: See you at the parish Mission! We are so glad to have Fr. Ron Hoye C.M. with us this weekend and look
forward to gathering with him, our neighbors, guests and fellow parishioners at 7:00pm on Monday through Wednesday evening! I know the time spent together will be a blessing for each of us and for the parish! Now some future dates to plan for. The “Meet the Leaders” gathering that was cancelled because of the snow storm has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 10th. Hopefully no snow will be falling in March. So plan on coming over after morning Masses, having coffee and donuts and finding out the various minis-tries and opportunities to serve the parish and com-munity that are part of our parish life! Young Adults, you are invited to a reception from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday night, February 22nd in the Parish Center. It has been a wonderful thing to see the number of young adults growing in the parish. We hope this will be an opportunity for you to meet each other, so come by for a few minutes or for the entire evening. There will be more details in next week’s bulletin, so save the date. In Christ’s love, Fr. John

In the Gospel today, Jesus shows us that we are called to place gos-pel values before any other values and to be willing to put our lives on the line for them. Taking care of God’s poor is indeed living gos-pel values.

All are Invited!!! Don’t miss out on this opportunity for busy people to quiet them-selves a bit and listen and experience the voice of God within them. Having said that, Fr. Ron Hoye, CM, mixes each mission evening with humor, storytelling, music and prayer. It’s a power-fully spiritual experi-ence, and enjoyable. Light refreshments will be served in the sacristy after each night. Block out some time for YOU! You won’t be sorry that you did.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Three years and two months ago (November 2015), I was blessed to be able to return to SHF and resume my Diaconal ministry with all of you. Little did I know then that I would be diagnosed with a particu-lar kidney disease that is ultimately terminal. It has not caused me any problem during this time, but now as I was forewarned, it has begun to affect my life and subsequently, my ability to regularly function as a deacon. It is a strain of the disease that does not bode well for a transplant, and other than dialysis, there is no treatment. I have chosen not to endure dialysis, so I will simply await the disease to run its course on me. Therefore, I am now stepping back from diaconal ministry, and if you don’t see me as often as you have in the past, you will know why. Please know that materially I have everything I need at this time but would greatly appreciate you remembering me and my family in your prayers. In the future, I will ask Father Brennell to share with you any appropri-ate updates on my condition and would appreciate your understanding of my privacy as I live out this condition. Finally, simply know how much you have meant to me over the 34 years I have been privileged to be a deacon and to have walked in your lives. Know also that I will pray for all of SHF parishion-ers. The parish was here for me in February, 1985 at my ordination and I know you are still there today. God Bless, Deacon Tom Forster

Christian Movie Night “Please join us for the next Christian movie night on Friday, February 15th, at 7 pm in the Parish Hall when we will be showing “War Room”. This is an impactful story about spiritual warfare and the power of prayer. It is a drama of a family facing serious problems, when one of the characters explains the importance of prayer time in a special place…..the War Room. Admission is free; refreshments will be provided.” Rating: PG.
