● Simple to install
GypLyner
GypLyner wall lining is acost-effective, virtuallyindependent metalframe dry internal lining. It is a general purposesystem which is non-loadbearing and suitablefor all internalapplications. It can beused in all building typesranging from privatehouses to largecommercialdevelopments. Theinherent versatilitymakes it equally suitableas a wall and ceilinglining.

Planning the job1 Estimated construction time is 3m2 / man hourready for finishing.
2 The depth of the cavity is determined by thepositioning of the fixing brackets. Allow for a stand-off of 25mm - 75mm plus the lining thickness for GL2Brackets, and 25mm - 125mm plus the liningthickness for GL9 Brackets. These stand-offs aresufficient to correct irregularities normallyencountered in solid backgrounds.
3 The drylining cavity must be ‘closed’ otherwisethermal performance will be downgraded. This isachieved in practice if the abutting elements and thebackground are well fitted, and junctions are sealed. When the perimeter of the cavity is to be sealed by thedrylining contractor, apply a continuous fillet ofGyproc Dri-Wall Adhesive or Gyproc Sealant to theperimeter of the external wall and around any servicepenetrations and openings. Make provision forrestricting air movement around the perimeter ofsuspended timber floors, such as the provision of aflexible seal between the floor and walls.
4 Brackets should be positioned equidistant at max.800mm vertical centres. Where there is a requirementfor increased rigidity, these support centres should bereduced accordingly, although acoustic performancemay be downgraded. Contact British Gypsum forguidance.
5 Where there is a requirement for a more durablelining, 13mm DuraLine may be used in place of either12.5mm or 15mm WallBoard, or 12.5mm FireLine, giving equal performance.
6 Consider a damp proof membrane on new concreteor screeded floors.
7 Use full height boards wherever possible – if jointsare unavoidable endeavour to position them abovesuspended ceilings or below access floor level.
8 Support horizontal board joints with GypframeFixing ‘T’.
9 Select the right length of drywall screws (nominalentry into metal of 10mm).
10 Form vertical cavity barriers, where specified, inlong runs of lining.

11 Consider skirting fixing – mechanical or usingGyproc Sealant.
12 Seal any small gaps, such as at the base of theskirting, with Gyproc Sealant.
13 Install Gyproc Control Joints where specified.
14 Fixtures – additional framing will be required tosupport heavyweight items (e.g. sanitary ware).
15 Ceramic tiles – 12.5mm; 32 kg/m2 maximum.
Finishing See Section 10.

• Determine cavity depth required andmark chalk lines to floor and ceiling toindicate positioning of GL8 Track.
• Fix GL8 Track to perimeters, with thelonger leg towards the lining, at 600mmcentres using appropriate fixings.
• Mark vertical lines on the wall at600mm intervals (450mm intervals for900mm width boards) to indicate GL2 orGL9 Bracket fixing centres.
• Mark horizontal lines at 800mmcentres to determine individual bracketpositions.
• Position each bracket, ribs to the wall, and fix through bracket slot into the solidwall using a GypLyner Anchor.
Installation
3
• Friction fit GL1 Lining Channel into thetrack.
• Extend GL1 channel, where required,by engaging channel ends over a GL3Channel Connector.

Internal angles
• Position a GL1 Lining Channel tightinto the corner in order to providesupport for the lining.
• Bend one bracket leg across the face ofthe GL1 and fix with a Gypframe WaferHead Drywall Screw to secure andrestrain the channel at the cornerposition.
6
• Bend bracket legs forward and fix eachleg to the channel using a GypframeWafer Head Drywall Screw. Insert screwthrough the hole in the bracket nearest tothe back of the channel.
• Bend back protruding bracket legs tosit clear of the channel face.
Avoid exerting any backwards orforwards pressure on the channels whenscrew-fixing the brackets, otherwise astraight and true lining surface may notbe achieved.

Board fixing
• Fix boards to all framing members at300mm centres using Gyproc DrywallScrews.
• Lightly butt boards, inserting screwsnot closer than 10mm from bound edgesand 13mm from cut edges.
• Locate GL8 Track tight to the wall atthe corner position and fix through thelining into the channel.
• Continue boarding, fixing boards to allframing members.
7 8
Select the appropriate length offixing to provide a nominal 10mm penetration into the steel framing.
NB
Adjust slotted brackets (if necessary) as boarding proceeds toallow for board width tolerances.

Openings
• Position GL1 Lining Channel to slightlyoversail the opening on either side and fixchannel to track at head and base with aGypframe Wafer Head Drywall Screw.
• Install cut and bent track to form thehead of the opening and fix to the side ofthe channel using two Gypframe WaferHead Drywall Screws.

• Position a short length of GL1 LiningChannel midway above the opening andfix using two Gypframe Wafer HeadDrywall Screws.
10 11
• Fix Gyproc edge bead to the perimeterof the window frame to provide restraintand edge protection to the reveal andsoffit linings.
• Cut reveal and soffit boards to width, locate into the perimeter edge bead andfix to channel/track.
• Fix boards to complete drylining at theopening.
• Where door openings occur in the runof lining, cut board around the openingto avoid a joint directly in line with doorjambs.
Insulation
• If Isowool insulation is specified, installprogressively as boarding proceeds.Services
• The drylining cavity facilitates theincorporation of services. Fix pipes andconduits in position before installing theframing.
The insulating backing of Gyprocthermal laminates should not be chasedto accommodate services. PVC coveredcables must not come into contact withpolystyrene insulation. Use suitable isolation methods (conduit or capping).
