Despite a volunteer shortage caused by the State Conven-tion, and illness, lingering inclement weather and cashless po-tential donors this couple redoubled their efforts to raise funds for intellectually disabled children and adults. In grateful recog-nition of their determination to maximize the proceeds from our 2017 Tootsie Roll Drive) Council 6646 is most pleased to honor Brother Bill and Lady Julie Bergeron as its Family of the Month - April, 2017.

Though their home is in Greendale this special couple pro-vides much needed support for our council's charitable and ser-vice programs. Cardinal Albert G. Meyer Council #6646 offers its heartfelt congratulations to our Chaplain Fr. If you're married, your wife is probably involved in a few of the many events that happen each year. This support adds great value and im-pact to what a council can achieve. Climb the Degree Ladder

Day of the Unborn

St. Catherine of Alexandria Church again proved to be an ideal venue for our annual prayer service for the victims (babies, mothers and fathers) of abor-tion. Dozens of Pro-Life men and women gathered before the beautiful statue of our Blessed Mother to pray a Scriptural Rosary for the Respect of Human Life. It was led by Phil McCarthy and narrated by Peter and Alice Schulteis. The Stations of the Cross for the Victims of Abor-tion was led by Steve Gaenslen with Tim Nighbor assisting as the cross bearer. The three dimension-al depictions of the 14 Stations dramatically visual-ize the unfathomable agony and brutal suffering en-dured by our Savior in atonement for the sins of mankind. Yet, before expiring He, an inexhaustible font of mercy, forgave His executioners! "Were YOU there when they crucified my Lord?"

4th of July Celebration

Memorial Day Observance

In 1988 Council #6646 began participating in Brown Deer’s Independence Day Parade. Volun-teers are needed to continue publicizing the pres-ence of the Knights of Columbus in the community and thus maintain this patriotic tradition. The pa-rade will step off at 1:30 PM on Tuesday,July 4, 2017. Our council needs two banner carriers and two flag bearers as well as volunteers to publicize our annual Campaign for the Intellectually Disabled by distributing Tootsie Rolls to the children along the parade route. (East on Dean Rd. to 51st St, then NORTH across Brown Deer Rd.) The staging area is the parking lot south of the middle school on 60th & Dean Rd. Volunteers may park there. Please contact GK Lary Brushafer to participate in this pat-riotic community activity. 414-354-3513 or [email protected]

Holy Hill Usher Service

Since 1977 Cardinal Albert G. Meyer Council 6646 has provided ushers at three Masses (9:30 & 11 AM, 12:30 PM) at what is now the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary. There's a need for 8 Brother Knights at each Mass on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Volunteers wear "off-red" blazers which are provided. Dress slacks and shoes, a shirt and tie

Since 1978 our council has paused to honor the men and women of our Armed forces who showed no greater love than to lay down their lives in de-fense of our freedoms. On Monday, May 29th Brother Knights, Ladies, family members and friends are invited to St. Catherine Parish (76th Pl.) to pray the Rosary at 8:30 AM. After the 9:00 AM Mass and prayers in the cemetery, refreshments will be served in the Parish Gym. A free will offering would be greatly appreciated.

Prayer for Those in Military Service

O Prince of peace, we humbly ask your protection

for all our men and women in military service. Give them unflinching courage to defend

with honor, dignity and devotion, the rights of all who are imperiled

by injustice and evil. Be their rock, their shield, and their stronghold and let

them draw their strength from you. For you are God, forever and ever. Amen.

For almost three decades Calvin College profes-sor Peter Tigchelaar has had a three-month-old-

fetus, encased in plastic, that he uses in his human biology classes. Last year a student in one of his classes privately inquired if he still had it. He did and invited the young woman to his office for further conversation. There he asked why she was so interested. She proceeded to tell him an amazing story. The young woman told him that a generation ear-lier her mother had been a student in one of his biol-ogy classes. Unknown to him this student was three months pregnant on a day he had shown the class the fetus with its tiny fingers, facial features, eyes, outline of a liver and other human features. "She had already visited a Planned Parenthood Clinic and was told about the 'product of conception' and 'contents of the uterus' that she had within her. She was advised to have an abortion and had one scheduled for the following morning." But after his class my mother realized she had more within her than a "product of conception." She canceled her scheduled abortion, continued with her pregnancy and eventually delivered a healthy baby girl. "I am that girl," The student then informed a stunned Tigchelaar. "Thanks for my life!"

Correspondence—Part 1

Please convey this message of appreciation to the Knights of Council #6646. Just a note to express my thanks for your most generous contribution to Fr. Gene's HELP Center dated February 9, 2017 in the amount of $200.00. It is greatly appreciated. The winters in Wisconsin are brutal. I can't thank you enough for your continued support of Fr. Gene's vision of providing help to those in need. Over the years you have been a steady companion in assisting us care for the needy. Fr. Gene had a favorite saying, "The answer is love."

Roberta Wolheim

Executive Director

Thank you, on behalf of St. Coletta of Wisconsin, for your commitment and dedication to our mission with your total gift of $699.48 during 2016. When we reflect on those who truly make a difference in the lives of those we serve, you are in our thoughts and sincerest thanks. Your 2016 gift has assisted St. Coletta in providing much needed support for over 300 individuals with devel-opmental disabilities and other challenges who rely on our care. This past year, gifts like these have expanded our services in Northern Illinois and continue to pave a path for young adults wishing to enhance their personal and professional skills for their independent lives ahead.

Robin Baker Director of Marketing & Development

In the name of the Carmelite sisters in the behalf of our Carmelite Home for Boys, I want to thank you for your generous gift of $300.00. I am happy to let you know the money will be used toward the Music Program that we are setting-up for our youth.

Your gift is indeed an answer to our prayer for the ben-efit of the boys. We truly want to get the boys involved in something constructive using their time and energy to en-hance the talents given to them by God. Thus, music is something that they can all relate to especially being in their teens.

Sister M. Immaculata

Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus

Our parish community wishes to thank you for your table sponsor donation of $150.00 for our Mardi Gras Ca-sino Night which was held on Saturday, February 25, 2017. This was our sixth year having this event. Because of your support and that of many businesses, organiza-tions and individuals, it was a huge success and enjoyed by all who attended. Again, thank you for your generosity. We know you most likely receive many requests for donations. We ap-preciate being among those who benefitted from your kindness. We wish you continued success and prosperity and look forward to your support again next year.

Debbie Hintz, Parish director Steve & Stephanie Gilles, Chairpersons

Thank you for your recent $250.00 donation to Catho-lic Relief Services. Gifts like yours help suffering people overseas in many ways. One important way is by helping those vulnerable to slavery and human trafficking. CRS helps prevent human trafficking by supporting sustainable livelihoods, education and health projects. Given productive land, stable incomes and healthy fami-lies with access to education, children and adults are far less likely to be lured into schemes that promise prosperi-ty but end in slavery.

RSVP - Refund Support Vocations Program

RSVP is the primary program by which K of C councils promote vocations through direct support of seminarians, religious postulants and novices. Since 1981 the Su-preme Council has refunded over $6,000,000 in $100 rebates for each $500 grant issued by participating coun-cils. Since 1987 Council 6646 has donated over $45,000 directly to seminarians and religious aspirants for their personal needs. Thanks to YOUR SUPPORT of the 2017 State Charity Raffle Council 6646 has already issued $500 grants to seminarians William Arnold, Andrew Infanger, and Car-los Londono for the 2017-2018 academic year. William and Andrew were recently ordained to the Order of the Diaconate by Bishop Jeff Haines. They will continue their formation at St. Francis de Sales Seminary and at SHST prior to their ordination as Archdiocesan priests in 2018. They and Carlos greatly appreciate your generosity and your prayers.

Thank you for continuing to support me in my studies for the priesthood. I appreciate all of your prayers. the Lord has strengthened me and granted much grace as I journey along the path of my vocation. The past semester has been extremely busy with a lot of school work and preparation for my ordination to the deaconate

In addition to a lot of studying different areas of theolo-gy-scripture-systemics, and pastoral counseling, I've also been spending much time at my new teaching parishes. I was previously assigned to St. Charles Borromeo in Mil-waukee, but I have since made the switch over to Nativity of the Lord in Cudahy and St. Veronica in Milwaukee. The change has kept life interesting, full of new and rich possibilities. Furthermore, I've had the opportunity to do more "practicums" as we call them. This is when the seminarians on the verge of ordination practice how to perform the sacraments. For example, I've had sessions pretending to perform a baptism, marriage ceremony and also assist as a deacon at Mass. I look forward to the real experience as it gets closer and closer. In conclusion, I again thank each one of you for the generous financial support that the Knights graciously provide to men, like me, discerning vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Your prayer is also much appreciated and is full of much merit. May God continue to pour out His abundant blessings upon all of you.

Correspondence—Part II

I want to thank you for your kindness and generosity towards me and the Church. May God reward you with many blessings, for each one of you and each one of your families! I am now in my third year of this exciting journey to-wards, God willing, the Priesthood. Academically this is my first year in Theology, after 2 years of Pre-theology. Studies are going well; I am personally enjoying one class: Paschal Mystery! On March 11th, I was instituted into the Ministry of Lector. Becoming a Lector and Acolyte and then declar-ing candidacy are necessary steps before deaconate and priesthood. I am grateful to be here and really looking forward to serving the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as a Priest. This summer, God willing, I will be on a mission trip to Lourdes for a few weeks! I will have each one of you pre-sent in my prayers in front of the grotto!

Always grateful, Carlos Londono

Editor's note: Andrew Infanger has gratefully acknowl-edged our financial support and welcomes your prayers as he continues his journey to ordination in the Archdio-cese of Milwaukee.

Carlos Londono
