Ghaziabad

At a glance…

The district of Ghaziabad is situated in the middle of Ganga-Yamuna doab. It is roughly rectangular,

spreading across 75 kms in length and 37 kms in breadth.

On the North, it is bounded by Meerut district, on the South, there’s Bulandshahar and Gautambudh Nagar,

on the South-West by the National Capital Delhi and on the East by the districtJyotibaphule Nagar.

River Hindon flows though the city dividing it into east of Hindon (CisHindon Area i.e. CHA) and west of

Hindon (Trans Hindon Area i.e. THA). CHA constitutes 2/3rd in area.

The status of Ghaziabad was upgraded from Municipal Board to Municipal Corporation, known as

Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) on 31st August, 1994 following 74th Constitutional Amendment Act 1992

and conformity legislation by State Government. GNN area has been divided into 80 wards and five

administrative zones namely City Zone, Kavi Nagar Zone, Vijay Nagar Zone, Mohan Nagar

SWACHH BHARAT MISSION

To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation, the National

Government launched the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in October 2014. It is India’s biggest ever cleanliness

drive, not only ensuring cleanliness, but also a pledge to build toilets on a national scale, across cities, villages and

states.

Ghaziabad is walking on the same path and trying to achieve the objectives by the end of Mission Period. The city

Municipal Corporation is focusing on construction of Toilets, SWM and People Engagement, to ensure the success of

this event.

With an aim of declaring ODF wards a formal communication has been made with D.M., BSA, DIOS, Ward

Councillors and Mayor. Also, a major step has been taken towards resolution of complaints received on Swachhta

App as during December 2016, out of total received complaints that were received, all of them were resolved.

This newsletter highlights the major events conducted by Ghaziabad City to create awareness among citizens, as a

step to make it a Swachh City & The steps taken by Municipal Corporation Ghaziabad to make Ghaziabad "SMART

CITY"

SMART CITY PROJECT

Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam Officials got prepared to draft Smart City Round 3 Proposal.

Steps took by Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam

1>Citizen ideas were called through

(i)facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GhaziabadMunicipalCorporation/),

(ii)twitter page (https://twitter.com/SmartCityGzb) and

(iii)dedicated whatsapp no. :- 8700767216.

2> Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam launched GPS Enabled Garbage pickup vehicles to track and monitor the Vehicles

while running in the city.

3> Sanjay Chauhan Nodal Officer, Smart City, Ghaziabad with his team meet various RWA's of the Trans Hindon

Area to know the views of the citizens where and how should a smart area be generated which helped in

preparing the Proposal for round 3.

4> Hon'ble Mayor Mr. Ashu kr. Verma visited local sites in the THA & Vasundhara Zonal Office to know, discuss

and think more about the place where smart city area should be developed.

5> Various in office meetings chaired by Hon'ble Mayor and Municipal Commissioner were also conducted

discussing the Smart City Project.

6> Citizens were encouraged for mentioning their feedbacks on www.mygov.in through all the above mentioned

channels and personally also.

7> Smart Proposal successfully drafted and submitted for the consideration.

Some Anecdotes

Observation of Garbage dumping plant by Municipal Commissioner: - To make the city garbage free

and to get the citizens rid of the big garbage piles and its hazardous effect Municipal Corporation

Ghaziabad's Officers have worked to get Garbage dumping plant under Solid Waste Management developed

in the city. The vehicles from the Health Department of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation will collect and

deliver the garbage to the Site where the garbage dumping plant will be treating the waste. For the same the

Municipal Commissioner visited the Garbage Dumping Plant to inspect the progress of the same. Waste on

the site is arranged with the help of Pokland Machine and huge amount of unmanaged waste has been

arranged properly. Mr Abdul Samad on visiting the site ordered the officers to start the plant as soon as

possible in order to dispose of the waste generated in the city on this occasion NSA (Nagar Swasth Adhikari)

Mr. Ram Kripal Yadav and various other responsible officials were also present and got the strict orders to

start the same soon.

Participation of Municipal Corporation in Digidhan Mela: - To increase awareness & to promote

digital payments in the citizens of Ghaziabad Digidhan Mela was organized in Ghaziabad District

under the supervision of Mrs. Nidhi Kesarwani District Magistrate Ghaziabad. Ghaziabad Municipal

Corporation took part in the same and demonstrated to the citizens how this organization promotes

the digital payments that are to be made by the citizens in favour of the Ghaziabad Municipal

Corporation i.e House Tax that are payed by the house owners of the city, & also demonstrated how

Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation promotes digitization.
