The Municipal Corporation has provided new Water boosting station in sector 56

Consisting of one lac gallon

capacity underground reservoir to be filled up with yield from the tubewell as well as canal

water from water works sector 52 alongwith two pump sets (one working and one standby

arrangement) the water boosting station was completed at a cost of Rs 43 lacs within 4

months span

The Adviser said that there was dire necessity to improve the water supply system in

that area as it was persistent demand of the residents pursued by the area councillor He said

that the residents of sector 56 were facing lot of problem of low water pressure in their area

and regular requests were received from the residents to increases the water pressure as the

pressure of water was not sufficient to meet with the requirement of water at first floor

The water boosting station will cater approximately 3000 households having two and

three story buildings in the rehabilitation colony sector 56

MC issues 51 notices against defacement in city

worth Rs 36 crores

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has issued 51 notices worth Rs 36 crores on

September 16 to the defaulters under anti defacement campaign in city carried out under

Chandigarh Advertisement Control order 1954

Chandigarh said that during the course of checking by joint team of civil defence Municipal

Corporation and Chandigarh Police regarding defacement of property in Chandigarh number

of posterssignboards were displayed at various locations in Chandigarh during student union

elections

The joint team removed the posterssignboards from different locations and proper

photography of such advertisements has been taken He said that notices have been issued to

the defaulters and advertisement fee calculated as per Chandigarh Advertisement Control

Order 1954 has been imposed on them

The defaulters have to be deposit the calculated fee with the Municipal Corporation

Chandigarh as per issued notices on account of advertisement fee

directed that fogging operations should be carried out under the direct supervision of the

concerned area Councillors

It was also resolved during the meeting that pamphlets for prevention amp

control of Dengue will be distributed to the general public through Municipal Councillors and

RWAs The RWAs will hold special meetings in their respective areas to spread the

message of prevention control and management of Dengue fever It was also decided in the

meeting that MLO (Mosquito Larvicidal Oil) should be sprayed over all the breeding points

of mosquitoes

A Special Entomological Exhibition was also displayed where the larvae of

Aedes mosquito was shown to the councilors RWAs and the general public A Special

Helpline for the Dengue ie 9779558282 is maintained by Dr Gaurav Aggarwal Anti

A meeting of Electricity committee of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held on

September 9 under the chairmanship of Sh Mukesh Bassi councilor MC Chandigarh Other

Environment amp City beautification committee meeting held

The Environment amp City beautification Committee of Municipal Corporation was held

on September 4 under the Chairpersonship of Smt Rajbala Malik and attended by other

Heera Negi Smt Jannat Jahan Sh Pardeep Chhabra Sh Sat Parkash Aggarwal and

The committee passed various agenda items of development and policy

The committee has accorded approval for 10 additional gardeners for every ward for

cutting grass from parks and green belts including pruning of trees wherever required

These gardeners will be deployed for ten days under Swachha Bharat Mission

The committee also decided to provide benches outside all the religious places in

Chandigarh falling under Municipal limits The committee members were of the view that

the wild grass in reserve lands falling near the sites of Apni Mandies in City be cut regularly

The committee also discussed the issue regarding provision of more division of

Horticulture wing and two sub divisions for proper maintenance of increasing developed

green area in city

Public can now rate the redressal of their

grievances related to MC

In order to further improve the functioning of the Online Grievance Management

System of the MC and to make it more responsive to the citizens the Municipal Corporation

Chandigarh has added a unique feature in this system by which the citizens will be able to

rate the redressal of their grievances on a scale of 1 to 5 as soon as their complaint is

resolved

Explaining about the system Mrs Bhawna Garg IAS Commissioner MC said on

September 30 that this rating of the citizens will be recorded in the system and then the

redressal can be monitored by the senior officers who can decide as to which department of

the MC is responding efficiently to the complaint of the citizens

As a step further changes have been made in the system which will now generate

SMS and send it to the officer concerned for redressal of grievance and to the next higher

authority as to how many complaints are pending for more than 3 days and more than 15

days on a daily basis at 8rsquo o clock in the morning

This will help the senior officers to effectively monitor the redressal of complaints

done by the junior officers In order to make the complaint system more broad based 3 new

categories of complaints relating to birth and deaths registration work relating to Colony

Branch and complaints relating to paid parking are being added in this system

Mayor inspects primary schools assures for smart class rooms

Mrs Poonam Sharma Mayor of Chandigarh inspected primary schools under the

jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh on September 2 and she assured to make

the class rooms smart in all the schools with proper provision of computer and projectors

etc

She was accompanied by Sh Joginder Singh Block Education Officer and concerned

officers of MC visited primary school Sector 12 (PGI) and Buterla village Chandigarh The

Mayor was apprised by the school incharges about the condition of the buildings and other

infrastructure facilities provided in the schools premises

After inspection the Mayor assured that the schools under the jurisdiction of MC

will be upgraded soon and converted into smart schools with all modern facilities at par

with other government schools in Chandigarh She further said that matter will be discussed

with Chandigarh Administration regarding transfer of more schools under Municipal

Corporation Chandigarh

She checked mid day meal provided in the primary schools and instructed the

concerned staff for provision of hygienic food to the children She said that a meeting of

officers will be called in two-three days to chalk-out proper plan for upgradation of the

schools and addition of more hygienic food supplements to the students of primary schools

Sanitation Committee meeting held A meeting of Sanitation committee of Municipal Corporation was held on September

29 under the Chairmanship of Sh Darshan Kumar Garg and attended by Sh Satish Kainth

Sh HC Kalyan Sh Babu Lal Sh Davesh Moudgil Sh Rajiv Gupta Joint Commissioner Dr

PS Bhatti Medical Officer of Health and concerned senior officers of Municipal

Corporation

During the meeting the councilors discussed and recommended following agenda

items

1 The Committee members discussed and resolved that cattle catching drives

be carried out in various sectors as complaints regarding cattle menace is

very common especially in southern sectors these days

2 The members also accorded approval for the agenda item regarding

providing and fixing of 85 iron dustbins in the markets of sector 47 and 48 at

an estimated cost of Rs 8 lacs

3 Agenda item regarding procurement of various tyres tubes and flappers for

the vehicles of Medical Officer of Health MC Chandigarh has been approved


Water Supply amp Sewerage Disposal Committee meeting held

A meeting of Water Supply amp Sewerage Disposal Committee Municipal Corporation

Chandigarh was held here on September 4 in the committee room of MC under the

Chairmanship of Maj (Retd) DS Sandhu and attended by other members of the committee

including Sh Darshan Kumar Garg Sh Satinder Singh Sh Surinder Bahga Prof Aruna Goel

Sh Pardeep Chhabra Smt Harjinder Kaur and concerned officers of Municipal Corporation

The committee has asked the concerned officers to issue a public notice regarding

awareness of tertiary treated water supply for irrigation purpose amongst masses in

Chandigarh to save the drinking water

It was also discussed in the meeting to streamline the functions of Executive

Engineers of Public Health department MC The members resolved that proper

demarcation of the jurisdiction of the public health divisions will be on specific area basis

rather than the existing arrangement of functional basis

The members were of the view that it is not feasible for an executive engineer and

his deficient staff and limited resources to cover the entire geographical territory of the city

In order to attend to the identical nature of complaints at distantly located spots long

distances have to be traversed and lot of time consumed before the complaints are

resolved

The members of the committee accorded approval to various developmental agenda

Tax Branch

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has imposed property tax on commercial lands

and buildings wef 22112004 which is collected under self assessment scheme every year

During the current assessment year 2015-16 Tax Demand Notices to the tune of Rs 1852

crore were issued and the corporation has collected Rs1796 crore upto Sep 2015 against the

target of Rs18 crore Further the Tax Branch has been issuing the Demand Notices to the

defaulting assessee and notices have been issued to 6921 assessees upto Sep 2015 to the tune

of Rs 3674 crore The process of issuing notices is going on and during the month of Sep

around 90 notices have been issued to the defaulters against outstanding amount of Rs 25 lac

and amount of tax arrears recovered during Sep 2015 is Rs 1091 lac

Further the Corporation imposed property tax on residential lands and building for the

assessment year 2013-14 Re1- per sq yard on plot basis on provisional basis The

Chandigarh Administration issued directions to the Municipal Corporation to revise this rate

and to bring it inconformity with the Act and make it financially more reasonable and

economically viable with in a period of three months The corporation fails to comply with

the directions of the Chandigarh administration The Administrator Chandigarh

Administration keeping the facts and figures in view and including the Chandigarh in the list

of smart city mission impose the property tax on residential lands and buildings falling

within the limits of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh commencing from the assessment

year 2015-16 except for any residential houseflat having area less than 500 sqft Further

Residential houses in the colony and villages falling within MC limits have also been

exempted In the case of Govt Building service charge at the rate of 75 per cent of the

property tax is to be paid The corporation has collected more than Rs150 crore upto Sep

2015 which is subject to reconciliation of accounts with banks concerned and collection

centres for collection of property tax on residential lands and buildings

Water Boosting Station provided in Sector 56

The Municipal Corporation has provided new Water boosting station in sector 56

Chandigarh Sh Vijay Kumar Dev IAS

Chandigarh today inaugurated this

station on September 14 in presence of

Mrs Poonam Sharma Mayor Mrs

Bhawna Garg IAS Commissioner MC

Sh Darshan Kumar Garg area

councillor other councilors and officers

senior residents of the area and

prominent citizens from Chandigarh

were present on the occasion

Consisting of one lac gallon

capacity underground reservoir to be filled up with yield from the tubewell as well as canal

water from water works sector 52 alongwith two pump sets (one working and one standby

arrangement) the water boosting station was completed at a cost of Rs 43 lacs within 4

months span

The Adviser said that there was dire necessity to improve the water supply system in

that area as it was persistent demand of the residents pursued by the area councillor He said

that the residents of sector 56 were facing lot of problem of low water pressure in their area

and regular requests were received from the residents to increases the water pressure as the

pressure of water was not sufficient to meet with the requirement of water at first floor

The water boosting station will cater approximately 3000 households having two and

three story buildings in the rehabilitation colony sector 56

MC issues 51 notices against defacement in city

worth Rs 36 crores

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has issued 51 notices worth Rs 36 crores on

September 16 to the defaulters under anti defacement campaign in city carried out under

Chandigarh Advertisement Control order 1954
