Training
Soft skill Training for Postal Employees on January 20, 2016 Centre of Marketing, KCT Business
School conducted one day training for
the Postmen on January 20, 2016.
The training program was carried out
with an objective of equipping the
participants to face the present
dynamic market trend with more
techniques on Marketing and Selling.
The training platform educated the
participants on various tools to
manage the customers & services
confidently. The workshop had four
modules which included “Self
awareness”, “Rural sales promotion”, Communicate with customers and “Building Customer Relationship” .The
course content was developed by KCT
Business School in consultation with the India
Post Authorities. The training sessions were
conducted by the faculty team of Marketing
centre, KCT business School. Dr. Mary Cherian
Centre Head, Dr.B.Poongodi & Ms. Latha.A,
Assistant Professor and Prof
V.Kaarthiekheyan, Associate Professor from
CoM were the resource person for this
training program. The program was

Coimbatore Healthcare Market Analysis on December 28, 2015
KCT Business has bagged another consultancy assignment on Coimbatore Healthcare Market Analysis from
Ranjan Medicals Private Limited, Coimbatore on December 28, 2015. Ranjan Medicals is a multi-functionality
corporate hospital offering all range of health services including a pharmacy and operates from
Thennampalayam which is located at the heart of Coimbatore and Avinashi. Dr.B.Poongodi, Assistant Professor,
CoM is the faculty in-charge of this assignment.

ENTREPRENEURIAL INITIATIVES Young Entrepreneurs Bootcamp on January 5, 2016
KCT Business School hosted the NEN Bootcamp for
Young Entrepreneurs on January 5, 2016. The Bootcamp
was a unique expert-led session that took a hard look at
the critical issues & hurdles entrepreneurs face. The
session also provided students with the opportunity to
address the gaps in their business idea and prepare for
the tough questions asked by investors. The session was
facilitated by B.L.Lakshmi Meera , Assistant Professor &
Head CoE. Ideation, Opportunity Evaluation and
Business Model canvas was covered with hands on
activities. Forty student entrepreneurs from various
colleges participated in the event. Dr.Vimal and
Mr.Arumugam were invited speakers to share real world
experience with the students. The event was organized
by B.L.Lakshmi Meera , Assistant Professor & Head CoE
NEN E-Leader Workshop on January 6, 2016
NEN E-Leaders workshop was
hosted by KCTBS at KCT campus
on January 6, 2016. Eight E-cells
participated in the
workshop. NEN’s Successful
Leadership Workshop is
designed for those who have a
vision and want to be part of the
entrepreneurial revolution. This
one day workshop helps equip E-
Leaders with the secrets to
transforming their E Cells
through planning, leadership
and through constantly honing
their entrepreneurial skills. The
workshop is also a platform to connect E - Leaders in the city, establish worthwhile collaborative relationships,
exchange ideas & best practices and also meet other members of the entrepreneurial community. Ms.Vishnu
Priya, NEN facilitated the session. Mr. Mohan, CEO, Namma Cafe, Student startup of KCT shared his campus
startup experiences. It was a day of fun, excitement and network. Eighty five students from various colleges
participated. Students of KCT and KCT BS participated in the program. The event was coordinated by

FACULTY ZONE
Faculty Recharge Session The Faculty Recharge Program was
held on December 31, 2015. This
program provides an opportunity to
the faculty to upgrade and rejuvenate
themselves in their respective areas of
expertise. Under the program, the
teaching pedagogy, methodologies,
assessment pattern for the new
curriculum for batch 2015-17 was
open to discussion. Inputs from faculty
on all the courses was reviewed and
finalized. The program intended to
ensure that faculty will approach the
ensuing semester with exceptional creativity, zeal and commitment.
Department Performance Appraisal
The main objective of a performance appraisal is
to measure and improve the performance of
employees and increase their future potential
and value to the institution. The Annual
Performance Appraisal of KCT Business School
was held on January 13, 2016.The meeting
commenced with the opening remarks from Mr.
Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, KCT;
Dr. RS Kumar, Principal, KCT; Mr. Ravi
Kandasamy, PMO, KCT and Mr. Muniasamy,
Executive Office, KCT. Dr. Vijila Kennedy
presented the performance of the Business
School in the academic year 2014-15 along with
the half-yearly progress of Academic year 2015-16.Disscussion and suggestions on the strategic imperatives of
the B School including, providing feedback, improving communication, understanding training needs, clarifying
roles and responsibilities and determining how to allocate rewards was tabled
Knowledge Sharing with Outside world
Vijila Kennedy, Director
Vijila Kennedy is a member on the EuroBRICS Youth Advisory Board. This Board is a platform to connect with the youth and help them with the organization of the EuroBRICS Summit.

Dr.P.Nalini was invited to address the Alumnus, UG and PG students on the topic “Career Aspiration for Youth” in P.K.R Arts College for Women Gobi, on January 26, 2016.

B.L.Lakshmi Meera, presided over the Women Entrepreneurs - Coimbatore chapter
meeting on January 21, 2016 at SIEMA Building Racecourse. Mr.Vanagamudi, Head
MSME Canara Bank was the Guest speaker. Members of the forum participated and
gained information on various schemes provided by banks and the method to get a bank
loan from the banker himself. The meeting was well appreciated and provided a great
platform for learning and networking.
Knowledge Enhancement MOOC
B.L.Lakshmi Meera , Assistant Professor & Head CoE completed a MOO Course on Essentials of
Entrepreneurship: Thinking & Action offered by the University of California ,Irvine
Conference/ FDP Attended Mr.A.Senthil Kumar, Assistant Professor (SRG), CoF attended
a 3-day National-level Workshop on Data Analysis in
Management - Econometrics on January 08 – 10, 2016. This
FDP was organized by Department of Management Studies,
School of Management, Pondicherry University, Puducherry.
Dr.R.Kasilingam, Associate Professor, SoM, Pondicherry
University, Dr.G.Ramasundaram, Associate Professor,
St.Joesph’s College of Engineering, Chennai and
Dr.K.R.Shanmugham, Professor, IFMR, Chennai were the
facilitators. The sessions imparted knowledge and skills in
Uni-variate, Bi-variate and Multi-variate time series data
analyses tools using Stata, E-Views, and LIMDEP software.
B.L.Lakshmi Meera, Assistant Professor & Head CoE represented
the college in the second phase of the FDP on Capacity Building for
Incubation Managers organized by EDI at VIT, Vellore. It was two
days of great learning from the Incubation managers of VIT
Vellore, Periyar University, Tanjavore and 91 Springboard, New
Delhi. The visit to the VIT incubator and TIFAC CORE at the campus
provided great insights on technology innovation, patenting and
student engagement in entrepreneurship. The session covered
planning, execution and marketing of a incubator. The program
was conducted at VIT Vellore on January 7- 8 2016.

Dr. Gokilavani R, Lead Trainer CoCR attended a four day Train The Trainer workshop conducted By Bodhidh Training Pvt Ltd in Chennai from January 27-30, 2016. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Vineesh who is a trainer and consultant in Bodhidh.
Lakshmi Subbrami, Assistant Professor CoH attended a three day FDP on Case Writing, Teaching And Research at XIME Kochi on January 28-30, 2016. This FDP was facilitated by Prof. Mathew J. Manimala

A recharge
program was
organized for the
students to reflect
on the past
semester and
reenergize

semester.
Motivational
sessions, which
included interactive sessions with seniors & Alumni, were conducted. Mentoring sessions with faculty members
to assist students in developing a meaningful personal plan for academic success, guidance on the utilization of
KCT BS support services, and suggestions to improve in the areas of academic weakness was also scheduled

members of Batch 2015-17.
Discussion on various upcoming
events like Yugam, Valedictory
Function of SA 2015 - 16, Medical
Camp for the KCTBS Students was
the agenda for the day. Since most of
the Senior Executive members will
be out on their corporate project
next month, the baton was handed
over to the junior executives to
shoulder the responsibility. The
Senior Executives shared their suggestions and ideas with the junior coordinators on January 27, 2016
FORUM Marketing Forum
Le Commerciante' organized
marketing forum activities for
the students of Batch 2015-17
in the month of December
2015. The students were given
instructions and motivated to
think on the spot, to come up
with innovative ideas and to
devise promotion
strategies for a start up firm.
Students came up with
advertisement plans for a
chosen product or service of
their new start up firm.
Fashion, Cab Services, Food, Vehicles were the popular categories chosen by the teams for the activity. The
student teams were actively involved in thought-provoking ideas and presented creative strategies to the
panelists. The teams were evaluated by a panel of members comprising one teaching faculty and one Student
Association Member from II MBA (Batch 2014-16). Manikandan.E Marketing Forum Executive and Dr. Poongodi
B Assistant Professor, CoM organized this forum activity in which around 176 students of I MBA (Batch 2015-17)
participated in the activity.

GLOBAL CONNECT
KCT Business School is now a signatory member of PRME(Principles for
Responsible Management Education). The PRME is the first organized
relationship between the United Nations and management related
academic institutions, Business Schools and universities. The Principles
provide an engagement framework for academic institutions to advance
corporate sustainability and social responsibility through the
incorporation of universal values into curricula and research
ASSESSMENT
General Interest Course, Batch 2015-17
General Interest courses were conducted for batch 2015-17 in Theater, Film Appreciation & Innovation, Yoga and Elementary Hindi. The courses were conducted by external and internal faculty during the academic year 2015-16. Students registered for the program based on their interest and the classes were conducted at KCT Business School. At the end of the course End Term Assessment was conducted by written and oral examinations. The assessment was conducted by Internal Faculty or the Certifying Body as per the course opted. Students were declared as completed or not completed at the end of the course.
TRAINING & PLACEMENT
Career Guidance on January 27, 2016
Special counseling session was conducted for students who are yet to be placed on January 27, 2016 by CoCR.
The session was chaired by Prof. Swaminathan Head,CoCR and followed by V. Saravana Prasad, Lead-CoCR. The
potential of non placed students were identified and individual focus and handholding will be done from CoCR
for these students.

Placement Metrics
The Centre of Corporate Relations organized 11 placement drives with 21 offers in January 2016.Companies
which visited the campus include Indegene, BNP Paribas, NJ Investment to mention a few. Students of Batch
2014-16 participated in the pool drive at the company premises by ROOTS on January 5, 2016 for the post of
Management Trainee. On January 12, 2015 NJ Investment conducted a campus placement drive for the post of Sr.
Executive Corporate Sales, 2 students were placed. Our students were placed in Pool drives conducted by
Decathlon and HR Cube at the company premises on January 18, 2015. BNP Paribas campus placement drive was
well attended by students, the results of which are awaited. Off Campus drives of Mean , Median, Mode was
attended . Pool Drives of Sleek & Eurocon tiles were attended at the company premises by students of Batch
2014-16, the results of these drives are awaited .Just Dial placement drive for marketing & Sales was organized
on January 27, 2016, 6 students were placed. About 13 more recruiters will be visiting the campus to recruit
students.
