ABIR KHAWWAM GRADE SIX THE MOON OF OUR PLANETMOON

IDENTIFICATION:

TheMoonis the onlynatural satelliteof theEarth, and thefifth largestsatellite in theSolar System. It is the largest natural satellite of a planet in the Solar System relative to the size of itsprimary,[e]having 27% the diameter and 60% the density of Earth, resulting in181itsmass. The Moon is the second densest satellite afterIo, a satellite of Jupiter.

MOON appears to us in its one face ,white to smoky gray

always showing the same face with itsnear sidemarked by dark volcanicmariathat fill between the bright ancient crustal highlands and the prominentimpact craters. It is the brightest object in the sky after theSun, although its surface is actually very dark.

The Moon is thought to have formed nearly 4.5 billion years ago, not long after the Earth. Although there have been several hypotheses for its origin in the past, the current most widely accepted explanation is that the Moon formed from the debris left over after agiant impactbetween Earth and aMars-sized body.

The Moon is the onlycelestial bodyother than Earth on whichhumans have set foot. TheSoviet Union'sLuna programmewas the first to reach the Moon with unmannedspacecraftin 1959; the United States'NASAApollo programachieved the only manned missions to date, beginning with the first manned lunar orbiting mission byApollo 8in 1968, and six manned lunar landings between 1969 and 1972, with the first beingApollo 11. These missions returned over 380kg oflunar rocks, which have been used to develop a geological understanding of the Moon's origins, the formation ofits internal structure, andits subsequent history. After theApollo 17mission in 1972, the Moon has been visited only by unmanned spacecraft,

After theApollo 17mission in 1972, the Moon has been visited only by unmanned spacecraft, notably by the final SovietLunokhodrover. Since 2004, Japan, China, India, the United States, and theEuropean Space Agencyhave each sent lunar orbiters. These spacecraft have contributed to confirming the discovery oflunar water icein permanently shadowed craters at the poles and bound into the lunarregolith. Future manned missions to the Moon have been planned.

As we all see , Moon passthrough levels which appears to us in different 7 shapes but actually it doesnt physically change, first it pass throught 3 levels to grow and become a full Moon ,then it decreases back to become as this again till it disappears andreformed .

Our space is full of shiningobjects which charm us, especiallyour glamorous MOON !

Hope that youve enjoyedmy presentation ,and itsinteresting subject which isTHE MOON Done by abir khawwam
