PASSIVE II Subordinate Sentences made Passive

JJSE \ Feb 2013

Page 2: More Passive for Bachillerato

People think

La oración subordinada:

that Jill is a very intelligent person.

Page 3: More Passive for Bachillerato

People think

that Jill is a very intelligent person. What do people think?

Page 4: More Passive for Bachillerato

acknowledge admitir, reconocer

allege afirmar, alegar

assume suponer

believe creer

claim reclamar, reivindicar

consider considerar

expect esperar = tener esperanza

Page 5: More Passive for Bachillerato

know saber

make hacer, obligar

presume suponer

report decir, informar

say decir

see ver

think pensar, creer

understand entender

feel sentir

find encontrar, descubrir

that Jill is a very intelligent person. People think

Page 7: More Passive for Bachillerato

that is a very intelligent person. People think Jill

y lo colocamos al comienzo.

Tercero: averiguamos el tiempo del verbo principal…

that is a very intelligent person. People think

Jill

= Present Simple think

Page 9: More Passive for Bachillerato

y ponemos 'to be' después del sujeto, en ese mismo tiempo

that is a very intelligent person. People think

Jill

= Present Simple To be

is

Page 10: More Passive for Bachillerato

that a very intelligent person. People

Jill is thought

= to be is

to be

is

Page 12: More Passive for Bachillerato

Sexto: añadimos el resto de la oración

that People think

Jill is thought to be

a very intelligent person

Page 13: More Passive for Bachillerato

by people. Jill is thought to be a very intelligent person

Tom's sister believe that he is very generous

He is believed to be very generous by Tom's sister.

1 2 3 4 5 6

Corrección:

Tom's sister believe that he is very generous

Tom is believed to be very generous by his sister.
