More Ways to Make Your Grandparents Smile
My grandfather is full of pride. He doesn't like giving up his independence, and he much prefers doing things on his
own. However, he also heavily agonizes over mistakes. It pained me to see him be so sad over some errors he made
when managing his finances last year. He was a Certified Public Accountant, but in his old age he's having trouble
keeping organized and staying on top of the math like he used to. I'm not good at that sort of thing, so I wasn't sure
what to do for a while.
Luckily, I found out that there were people who could do his bookkeeping in San Juan Capistrano, which is where we
live. At first he was reluctant to do it, thinking it was just a waste of time and money. But once he gave it a shot and
met the people at the firm, it actually became something he looks forward to!
They don't baby him or just do it all for him without him taking part.
Not only do they do the stuff which he has trouble doing now, but they talk to him about financial concerns and
decisions he should make. He loves being around them, because they're in the field he used to be in, so it gives him
that feeling of being around old colleagues and experts again. It's not just that he no longer has to worry about
messing up tax in San Juan Capistrano, but now he gets to revisit his former profession in a way that emphasizes and
perfects his financial independence. I only wish I suggested it sooner.
I smile every time I see those experts of accounting in San Juan Capistrano. My grandfather still has financial
independence, but now with a lot less stress.
