a)Strong desire to make a change that involves very less money but gives long lasting impact on any sector.
b)Felt that agriculture is the backbone of our country and it would be better if we could do something for farmers.
c)recent articles in newspapers that prices of fertilisers are hiked and is becoming a burden on farmers to buy the same.
d)Over usage of fertilisers is having harmful effect on common man's health
e)) Distribution of fertilisers on subsidies to all the farmers by the agricultural department irrespective of necessity or not for a particular field
To know further details , we went to the agricultural officer and enquired about
the general procedure followed for the distribution of fertilisers to the farmers
how to avoid over usage of fertilisers
how to educate farmers on harmful effects of over dosage
how to get more yield from the crops
Based on interaction at agricultural department ,we discussed and thought that the project should be done in three phases to get meaningful results.
IST PHASE: Collection of soil samples in various fields from a near by village and selected Angal Kuduruvillage.
IIND PAHASE: Soil testing and Result Analysis in Soil Testing Center ,Guntur.
THIRD PHASE: Rally and Awareness program to farmers based on our result analysis report ..
Looking at our enthusiasm and interest for a social cause, the Lab employees gave permission to get analysis done by ourselves under their guidance.
Based on the result analysis, we have conducted a road rally in the village by distributing pamphlets with the report and steps to follow to avoid over dosage of fertilisers and harmful effects on health due to the same and how to get good yield.
District Agricultural Officer attended the programme and clarified many doubts of farmers.
We shared our Soil Test result analysis report and had an interactive session with the farmers.
When farmers thanked us and expressed their gratitude for educating them about many issues related to quality farming, we experienced the satisfaction we get when we work for a social cause.
Our heads were held high with pride when many elders appreciated us for working on farmers project when everybody was behind technology and urban problems.
We have understood the hardships that farmers face working in the fields and learnt to value the villages and farmers whose hard work is hardly recognized.
We have learnt that small kids like us could also motivate elders when we saw district agricultural officer showing interest to come all the way and explain farmers in detail after understanding our motto behind this project.
We have learnt that good deeds could be done with zeal and passion but not with money all the time as we spent very little money for this project i.e., only for pamphlets which we got from old news papers sale.
Above all , a great satisfaction for all of us when we recollected that materialistic benefits could be only for sometime, but education and changing the mind set is forever. We gained this as we educated farmers to remember for their life time and practice the methods that help in using less fertilisers and getting good yield that has long lasting impact on their lives.
The change in the attitude of the students and the happiness expressed by their parents after this project made me to feel proud of my kids for making a difference in the society.
